Hello!

Here are this week’s PTR notes for Embers of Neltharion:

NEW ZONE: ZARALEK CAVERN

  • The Embers of Neltharion campaign is now available for testing.

NEW RAID: ABERRUS, THE SHADOWED CRUCIBLE

Millennia ago, Neltharion carved deep places in the earth where he conducted world altering experiments. After his death, these sites were lost to time, until now. Forces seeking to claim the Earth-Warder’s legacy raid his dominion in search for powerful artifacts. Now the champions of Azeroth must venture into darkness and ensure the crucible’s dangerous power doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible features nine boss encounters: Kazzara, the Hellforged, The Amalgamation Chamber, The Forgotten Experiments, Assault of the Zaqali, Rashok, the Elder, The Vigilant Steward, Zskarn, Magmorax, Echo of Neltharion, and Scalecommander Sarkareth.

CRUCIBLE CLASS ARMOR SETS

  • Death Knight, Havoc Demon Hunter, Druid, Mage, Brewmaster Monk, Holy Paladin, and Protection Paladin class armor sets are available for testing. Visit Setzertauren in Stormwind and Orgrimmar to pick up the sets.
  • Class armor set details can be found in this feedback thread. Please share bugs you find via the in-game bug reporting tool and your feedback about the bonuses in the feedback thread.

DRAGONFLIGHT SEASON 2

  • MYTHIC+
    • The remaining Dragonflight dungeons will enter the fray:
      • Brackenhide Hollow
      • Halls of Infusion
      • Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr
      • Neltharus
    • Four dungeons from past expansions will provide new challenges to keep the Mythic+ rotation fresh:
      • Freehold, Battle for Azeroth
      • The Underrot, Battle for Azeroth
      • Neltharion’s Lair, Legion
      • Vortex Pinnacle, Cataclysm
        • Vortex Pinnacle will be available for testing in a future PTR build.
    • Seasonal affixes are in development and will be available for testing in a future PTR build.
    • Dragonflight Season 2 Mythic+ testing begins on Thursday, March 16. Visit the feedback thread 21 for details.

CLASSES

  • DRUID
    • Balance
      • The second Moonfire cast by Twin Moons no longer generates Astral Power.
        • Developers’ note: With the increase in Moonfire Astral Power generation from 2 to 6 in Embers of Neltharion, this doubling of AP from Twin Moons is stronger than we intend. This change makes it consistent with Astral Power generated by Sunfire.
    • Feral
      • Fixed an issue where Sudden Ambush was not affecting Shred and Rake attacks during Berserk.
      • Fixed an issue where Raging Fury was not extending the duration of Tiger’s Fury.
      • Updated descriptions of Pouncing Strikes and Bloodtalons to specify they increase the damage of your attacks for their full duration.
        • Developers’ note: This copies the language from Tiger’s Fury and distinguishes effects which snapshot their benefits at the time a damage over time spell is cast (Tiger’s Fury, Bloodtalons, Rake from Stealth) from those that only increase spell damage as long as they’re active (Sabertooth, new Berserk).
  • PALADIN
    • Holy
      • Avenging Crusader has been redesigned – You become the ultimate crusader of light for 12 seconds. Crusader Strike and Judgment cool down 30% faster and heal up to 5 injured allies for 750% of the damage done, split evenly among them. If Avenging Wrath is talented, also increases Judgment, Crusader Strike, and auto-attack damage by 30%.
  • PRIEST
    • Shadow Word: Death now has a 10 second cooldown (was 20 seconds).
    • Discipline
      • Enduring Luminescence now also reduces the cast time of Power Word: Radiance by 30%.
      • Power Word: Radiance now has a spell school of Radiant (was Holy).
    • Shadow
      • Shadow Crash damage reduced by 70%.
      • Shadow Crash now has a 20 second cooldown (was 30 seconds).
      • Death and Madness Insanity generation reduced to 8 (was 30).
      • Death and Madness generates Insanity immediately instead of over 3 seconds.
      • Shadow Word: Death now generates 4 Insanity.
      • Deathspeaker trigger rate increased by 50%.
      • Deathspeaker now increases the damage of Shadow Word: Death by 25% while active.
      • Deathspeaker now temporarily increases the maximum charges of Shadow Word: Death by 1.
      • Deathspeaker no longer triggers Death and Madness’ cooldown.
      • New Talent: Distorted Reality – Increases the damage of Devouring Plague by 20%, but Devouring Plague deals its damage over 12 seconds and its Insanity cost is increased by 25.
      • Encroaching Shadows has been removed.
      • Devouring Plague instant damage increased by 75%.
      • Surge of Insanity has moved to Encroaching Shadows’ position.
      • Surge of Insanity now has a Spell Alert while active.
      • Mental Decay now updates the maximum duration of Shadow Word: Pain and Vampiric Touch so that the remaining durations are more easily understood.
  • SHAMAN
    • Elemental
      • Flame Shock’s dispel protection from Control of Lava (PvP Talent) is now a baseline part of Flame Shock.
    • Enhancement
      • Flame Shock’s dispel protection from Control of Lava (PvP Talent) is now a baseline part of Flame Shock.

PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER

  • CLASSES
    • HUNTER
      • Interlope (PvP Talent) has been redesigned – Misdirection now causes your pet to redirect the next 3 hostile spells cast on your target. Misdirection cooldown increased by 15 seconds. Your pet must be within 20 yards of the target for spells to be redirected.
        • Developers’ note: We’re still working on this talent, so there may be a few bugs with this ability in this week’s PTR.
    • MAGE
      • Frost
        • Frost Bomb (PvP Talent) explosion damage increased by 50%. Dispelling Frost Bomb before its explosion now grants a charge of Brain Freeze.
    • PRIEST
      • New PvP Talent: Phase Shift – Step into the shadows when you cast Fade, avoiding all attacks and spells for 0.5 seconds. Interrupt effects are not affected by Phase Shift.
      • Phase Shift has been added to the Personal Resource Display.
      • New PvP Talent: Absolute Faith – Leap of Faith also pulls the spirit of the 3 furthest allies within 40 yards and distributes health between you and the affected allies.
      • Eternal Rest (PvP Talent) has been removed.
      • Delivered from Evil (PvP Talent) has been removed.
    • SHAMAN
      • Elemental
        • Stormkeeper increases Lightning Bolt damage by 30% for Elemental in PvP combat (was 115%).
        • Casting Lightning Bolt with Surge of Power causes 1 additional Elemental Overload in PvP combat (was 2).
        • Lightning Bolt damage increased by 53% for Elemental in PvP combat.
        • Control of Lava (PvP Talent) has been removed.
        • New Talent: Volcanic Surge – Increases the damage of Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Lava Burst by 20%. Lava Surge instead reduces the cast time of your next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, or Lava Burst by 25%, stacking up to 2 times.
      • Enhancement
        • Thundercharge (PvP Talent) has been removed.
    • WARLOCK
      • Bane of Fragility (PvP Talent) has been removed.
      • Destruction
        • Cremation (PvP Talent) has been removed.
      • Demonology
        • Call Fel Hunter (PvP Talent) has been removed.
        • Pleasure through Pain (PvP Talent) has been removed.

QUESTS

  • Several new side questlines are now available:
    • “A Swallow’s Tale” from Effervesta in Loamm (requires completing “Six Hundred Feet Under” campaign quest)
    • “Slime Time Live” from Elder Honeypelt in Loamm (requires completing “Future Aspects” campaign quest)
    • “Mouse Detective” from Yarren in Hermit’s Hollow
    • “This Might Sting” for Dracthyr in Zaralek Cavern.

  • EDIT MODE
    • Pet Frame can now be moved separately from Player Frame.
    • The Edit Mode menu has been reorganized, with several options now hidden under Advanced Options.

    • Encounter Bar will stay visible if it’s already shown when entering Edit Mode.
  • OPTIONS
    • The Graphics Quality section has been reorganized into tabs.
    • The Auto Self Cast and Self Cast Key settings have been combined into a single dropdown.

The World First Mythic Fyrakk kill triggered Fyr'alath to start dropping in the whole region next reset and in our latest post, we're looking at how to get the Legendary weapon!
Fyr'alath the Dreamrender will start dropping on live servers starting with the weekly reset, but the Legendary Axe comes in different stages and effects.
The initial legendary consumable drops from Fyrakk. Apparently, it has an increased drop chance on higher difficulties. Once equipped, players will be overwhelmed with shadowflame (Fyr'alath the Dreamrender) and must embark on a questline to unlock the item level 500 Legendary axe.
The axe comes with two effects (please note the placeholder values):
Rage of Fyr'alath - Unleash the Rage of Fyr'alath to charge towards your target and swing repeatedly, dealing 0 Shadowflame damage over 3 sec to all who would stand in your way. (Instant, 25 yd range, 2 min cooldown) Fyr'alath the Dream Render - Your attacks apply Mark of Fyr'alath, dealing 0 Shadowflame damage over 15 sec. Upon activation, Fyr'alath draws in the flames from all marks to increase its damage by 10%. Upon equipping the consumable that drops from Fyrakk, you will receive a quest and must visit a Shadowflame expert named Eadweard Dalyngrigge, located in Thaldraszus who will tell you to gather 3 components to withstand the heat so you can equip the weapon. This is very similar to the Evoker Legendary Questline.
You must get the following items obtainable from professions/crafting:
Erden's Glowspore Grip (Leatherworking) Lydiara's Binding Rune (Inscription) Shalasar's Sophic Vellum (Enchanting) However, they are to as easy to get as you may think...
To craft Erden's Dreamleaf Grip, you will need:
400 Zaralek Glowspores 3 Obsidian Cobraskin 5 Dreaming Essence 50 Mireslush Hide 1 Prototype Dreamleaf Grip To receive 1 Prototype Dreamleaf Grip, you must gather 200 Shadowed Dreamleaves from Superblooms.
The next item you will need is Lydiara's Binding Rune. This requires:
10 Shadowflame Essence 250 Cosmic Ink 50 Runed Writhebark 1 Prototype Binding Rune You must collect 50 Taut Tethercoils from Emerald Dream Rares to receive 1 Prototype Binding Rune. This isn't a 100% drop rate, so this quest may take a while to complete.
The final item is Shalasar's Sophic Vellum. Crafting it requires the following reagents:
150 Awakened Fire 100 Awakened Earth 50 Awakened Order 200 Resonant Crystal 1 Prototype Order Vellum Finally, you must gather 20 Radiant Flecks of Ash from powerful gear with Ashen Dowsing Rod. Basically, you're disenchanting Season 3 gear for quest items here. Once you've accrued 20 pieces, you will get 1 Prototype Order Vellum.
Once you have all 3 items, you can presumably wield the Legendary Axe, but nobody has obtained it yet on live servers, so there may be some additional steps and quests that we haven't covered here.

We have some additional smaller changes to a few classes in PvE and PvP in today's hotfixes, as well as dungeon and raid adjustments, and Emerald Bounty change, as well as some quest fixes that have been in place a while, and more.
      November 27 (Source)
      Classes
Monk Mistweaver The 2-piece class set Chi Harmony now only increases healing taken from Monk abilities. The 4-piece class set Chi Harmony no longer accumulates healing taken by Revitalizing Voodoo Totem. Paladin Protection Fixed an issue causing Cleansing Flame to deal incorrect damage and healing when cast on a target with vulnerability or increased healing taken. Warlock Demonology Fixed an issue where Soul Strike would be relearned whenever Felguard is summoned. Felguard should now prioritize using Soul Strike once it’s off cooldown. Dungeons and Raids
Darkheart Thicket Fixed an issue that caused Oakheart’s Crushing Grip damage to pierce immunities. Galakrond’s Fall Interval no longer triggers on-death affixes. The Everbloom Melded Berserker’s Bounding Whirl inflicts damage every 1.5 seconds (was 1 second). Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope Nymue Fixed an issue where Cycle Wardens were not correctly scaling for larger raid sizes on Normal difficulty. Events
Emerald Bounty contributions in the last 2 seconds of the event will no longer consume a seed or give credit for a contribution. This should help guarantee all loot earned is properly credited. Items
Fixed an issue where Smoldering Seedling would fail to trigger from healing abilities in quick succession. Player versus Player
PvP gear with Champion and Hero upgrade tracks should no longer display incorrect PvP ilvl increases when previewed in the upgrade UI. Mage Frost Fixed an issue where Frost Bomb’s explosion was triggering on the incorrect target when reflected. Rogue Fixed issues with Caustic Spatter, Sanguine Blades, Shadow Blades, and Replicating Shadows that caused them to unintentionally keep the Rogue and enemy player in combat. Subtlety Fixed an issue that prevented Eviscerate from dealing bonus shadow damage with Shadowed Finishers talented. Quests
Fixed an issue where Dragon Isles Drakes: White Scales were not awarded when completing the quest “Time to Process”. Players that have already completed the quest will receive the item via mail. Players who did not receive the intended weekly amount of Echoed Ephemera for “The Power of Dreams” will receive these missing items in their mail.

Blizzard have responded to players' comments on the relative small amount of class tuning coming with this week's reset, explaining their reasoning and stating that there will be more coming next week.
      Tuning Response (Source)
This afternoon, we posted about class tuning that we’re doing tomorrow. These changes were informed by class performance over the first two weeks of the season.
When a new season begins, we collect a huge amount of data about class performance, item acquisition rates, PvP statistics, etc. During this time we will fix any critical, disruptive, or otherwise immediate problems that come up as quickly as we can. We also need to be careful about any changes we plan and ensure we have adequate data to make informed decisions, and then additionally need time for testing the changes we’re making to avoid further issues. Alongside the changes in the above link, we’re planning to send an additional batch of tuning changes that will be released during restarts on the week of December 5th, which will probably include some buffs and some nerfs.
We’ll continue to make adjustments regularly, based on data and feedback, but probably not as often later in the season compared to these early few weeks.

Week 2 of Amirdrassil raiding brings us an even fuller picture, as so many more guilds have finished things up and added their data to the logs! Assassination is the new all-king, as the spec is literally at the top of every chart, so let's dive in and see.
Don't forget, we're focusing on Heroic for a while, as the Mythic numbers are just very unreliable at the moment, with so few guilds having even gotten through half the raid.
      Heroic
      Overall Damage 95th Percentile
Beast Mastery's fix brings it down even further in week 2, losing another two spots as Assassination moves even further in front, in ALL categories. Havoc and Demo are pushing up at BM's expense, and Arcane is very much on the rise as well. Enhancement actually gains the most spots at the top, 3 up into 6th, while Balance drops 2. Unholy moves two up as the last patch No.1 is still doing pretty good, leaving Fury and Subtletly to close out the top 10. Windwalker joins the bottom 3, where Destruction has fallen to the very last spot, and Augmentation remembers its glory days from down low.
Update: I mentioned this last week but forgot this week: Augmentation's damage is not very accurate and is considerably higher than what is seen here because of the way it's logged. You can check out this video for the details (thanks for the reminder Sweaksh).

95th percentile Heroic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Overall Damage All Percentiles
Yellow is on top everywhere this week, and we see a very similar top 10 here, with only Arcane standing out a little, 1 higher than last week. Marksmanship is the new addition to the bottom 3.

All percentiles Heroic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Boss Only Damage All Percentiles
Another massive lead for Assassination, with Arcane and Enhancement the closest to it, as the top 10 looks very similar to the AoE rankings above, even in the bottom.

All percentiles Heroic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Normal
      Overall Damage All Percentiles
While it's still on top here in the land of many logs, Assassination still comes out on top, but Arcane is right behind it and looking to take over, as the shorter fights give it even more power. Unholy is also doing better here, with Arms pushing into 6th and representing Warriors at the top instead of Fury. We even see Devastation make an appearance in the top 10!

All percentiles Notmal data by Warcraft Logs.
      Mythic
      Overall Damage All Percentiles
So I guess we're peeking in on Mythic every week now, huh? While many more guilds have ventured into Amirdrassil's hardest difficulty, very VERY few have gotten past the 4th boss, so the numbers are still very swingy. Assassination still reigns supreme, however, but we see Marksmanship at the other end of the spectrum from the other difficulties. Other than that Outlaw an Elemental are doing better as well, and we have a combo of both Evokers at the very bottom.

All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.

Meanwhile, if you're looking for more information you can check out our Dragonflight class guides, Amirdrassil boss guides, the raid DPS tier list, as well as more data from Warcraft Logs here.
