Recommended Posts

Blizzard outlined this week's changes to Mythic Keystone Affixes on the 10.1 PTR. Check them out!

This week's Patch 10.1 update brings various adjustments to Keystone Affixes.

  • Periodic affixes will be added to +7 runs (was 14).
  • Affixes that trigger on death and health ranges moved to +14 runs (up from 7).
  • Explosive will be replaced by Volcanic in Dragonflight Season 2.
  • Many affixes have been adjusted. See below for more details.

As we continue to watch everyone play Mythic+ on the PTR and take in your feedback, we wanted to share additional changes to this week’s PTR. Our changes this week aim to further lessen the impact of affixes on Mythic+ dungeon gameplay and to match our more challenging affixes to later keystone levels as players progress through the system.

Keystone Affixes

We have been evaluating our affix tiers and their impact on keystones. While we feel the change to bring affixes online at 7 and 14 is healthy, we wanted to also ensure that the right level of challenge is coming online at keystone levels 7 and 14. With that said, we feel our current level 7 affixes have a larger impact on the moment to moment gameplay for groups and have decided to switch the levels that our keystone affixes come online.

  • Periodic affixes are now added to keystones at level 7 (was 14).
    • Afflicted
    • Incorporeal
    • Volcanic
    • Entangling
    • Storming
  • Affixes that trigger on death or health ranges have been moved to level 14 (was 7).
    • Spiteful
    • Raging
    • Bursting
    • Bolstering
    • Sanguine

Affixes Updates

In addition to the change above, we’ve also reviewed the impact of our affixes and made tuning adjustments with the goal of lessening their overall impact on dungeon gameplay.

Level 7

  • Explosive
    • Explosive will be retired for Dragonflight Season 2 and replaced by Volcanic.
  • Incorporeal
    • Incorporeal Beings now fade away when combat with non-Incorporeal Beings has ended.
  • Entangling
    • Entangling’s snare effect has been reduced to 30% (was 50%).
    • Entangling now has a visual indicating the maximum range of the vine.
    • Entangling now has a distinct sound cue when applied to players.
  • Afflicted
    • Afflicted Souls health no longer scales after keystone level 20.

Level 14

  • Spiteful
    • Spiteful Shades melee damage reduced by 10%.
    • Spiteful Shades health and damage no longer scale after keystone level 20.
  • Raging
    • Raging now grants enemies immunity to crowd control effects for 20 seconds upon reaching 30% health remaining (was 50% increased damage done until defeated).
  • Bolstering
    • Bolster no longer increases the health of affected enemies (was health and damage).
  • Sanguine
    • Sanguine Ichor puddles now last for 12 seconds (was 20 seconds).

Thank you again for taking the time to play Mythic+ on the PTR! We appreciate your feedback and will continue to read, watch, play, and let you know as we make additional changes.

Holy *filtered* those are some massive changes, I always do high mplus keys and I will not argue the above changes. I don’t use a *filtered* ton of add ons and weak auras that play the game for me so the changes seem really good to me.

If they make dungeons with meaningful boss fights and mob mechanics, there’s no need to have a bunch of outrageous affixes. I would say with the amount of mobs in these DF dungeons that spam cast one shot mechanics and group wipers, I think the above changes are appreciated more then hated.

Deleting jewelry to lower your item level is the new meta in MoP Remix due to Blizzard's latest scaling changese, which make bosses easier when your item level is low.
Last night, Blizzard adjusted raid scaling in MoP Remix, making Heroic/Mythic bosses scale with your item level. Here's what that means:
As Reddit user Blubbpaule explains, there are now item level breakpoints for scaling. Bosses gain 20% more health and damage if you're above item level 406 on Heroic Difficulty.
At item level 371 equipped and below (388 in each slot), bosses have 20% less health and deal 30% less damage. At item level 388 equipped (415.2 in each slot), bosses have the same health and deal the same damage as before the hotfix. At item level 406 (444 in each gear slot), bosses have 20% more health and deal 20% more damage. Players have found an easy workaround for the sudden increase in boss power: simply delete your jewelry (amulet, rings, and trinkets) to lower your item level, making raid bosses easier to defeat.
When you delete all the listed items, your item level will decrease to around 370, which is just below the lowest threshold. Don't worry, you can buy all the items at any bazaar for 10 Bronze each.

Unfortunately, players who pre-ordered the War Within Collector's Edition won't be able to access the War Within Beta next week.
Although the Epic Edition is part of the Collector's Edition, players won't receive their codes until their packages arrive. This means they can't join the Beta starting next week. Blizzard support has confirmed this, as shown in the linked tweet.

      What's Available in the Beta?
New systems, the complete leveling experience, zones, dungeons, delves, Warbands, and the new playable Earthen are all available in the beta. Raid testing will come at a later time.
The Zones of Khaz Algar- Designated Sector AR-934
Beneath the surface of Azeroth, an expansive world exists, fraught with danger and waiting to be explored.
      The Isle of Dorn
Discover the land of Khaz Algar, off the western shores of Pandaria and home to the Earthen. Their capital city, Dornogal, will become the new meeting ground for the Horde and Alliance.
      The Ringing Deep
This gigantic cavern serves as the home of the Machine Speakers, Earthen who maintain the gigantic Titan machines of old.
Lit by a massive crystal at its center, this bright underground zone is home to the Arathi who are engaged in a continuing battle against the nerubians.
The pinnacle of nerubian society where Xal’atath, Harbinger of the Void, has been gathering and mutating nerubian forces to create an unstoppable army.
For players who are concerned about entering into a space filled with spiders, there will be an arachnophobia filter that can be turned on which will convert spider creatures into crabs.
      Meet the Earthen
We’ve met Titan-forged Earthen before in Ulduar and other places, but this society of Earthen has been isolated within Khaz Algar for a long while and have developed their own manners and customs. Visually, they are a bit larger, and gem encrusted.
Earthen will also unlock as a playable race. Replenishing the culture’s dwindling numbers by either joining the Horde or the Alliance. Players will be able to choose either faction to begin their journey.
There are many customizations that will be coming for these Earthen including different gem encrustations, beards for all body types, skin colorizations, and more.
Similar to the launch of previous expansions, there will be 4 level-up dungeons and 4 maximum-level dungeons that are available in each of the four new zones.
      Level-Up Dungeons
The Rookery The Stonevault Priory of the Sacred Flame City of Threads Maximum Level
Cinderbrew Meadery Darkflame Cleft The Dawnbreaker Old City If you don’t want to use the Dungeon Finder to take part in dungeons with other players, you can continue the campaign story with Follower Dungeons which will be available to play through in all level-up dungeons.
      Nerub’ar Palace Raid Dungeon
The Nerub’ar Palace raid dungeon will offer eight boss encounters. Located in Azj-Kahet, it will result in the culmination of the story we see play out involving the machinations of the nerubian empire and Queen Ansurek’s collaboration with Xal’atath.
Players can also expect new tier rewards for their valiant efforts.
      New Features
Delves: Deep beneath the surface lies treasure vaults waiting to be discovered. Explore these world instances solo or with up to four friends, along with an NPC companion, to defeat bosses and gain epic end-game loot. Delves New Mechanical Mount Reward

He's back! While we mostly see the amazing Hurricane working for Blizzard and making the Classic videos really impressive as of late, it seems he's also working on some cool stuff for himself!
We have a (very short) trailer for his next project, a Mad Max-inspired machinima where WoW vehicles and drivers just destroy on each other! As with all Hurricane videos it looks just incredible, and the full version is coming in July. So without further ado, let's get hyped!

If you haven't already, you should really check out some of Hurricane's other videos, and you should definitely check out our interview with him here:
