Recommended Posts

The Patch 10.1 PvE gear upgrading system is more complex and may be confusing for some, so we've put up a guide explaining the different types of gear and upgrade requirements.

Where is the Gear Upgrade Vendor Located in Patch 10.1?

Cuzolth can be found in Loamm (Zaralek Cavernat 56.53 55.92. You will be mainly upgrading gear in the new hub, but the Valdrakken upgrade vendor will work too.

What's Needed to Upgrade Gear in Patch 10.1?

  • Flightstones, a new currency that drops from all types of Season 2 content.
  • Shadowflame Crests, crafting reagents from Mythic Dungeons, Raids, and select Zaralek Cavern weekly activities.

Flightstones

Flightstones are a new Season 2 exclusive currency added in Patch 10.1 used to upgrade Dragonflight Season 2 PvE gear.

When Can You Start Earning Flightstones?

Flightstones will begin to drop on May 9, 2023, when Dragonflight Season 2 begins.

What Type of Gear Can Be Upgraded with Flightstones in Patch 10.1?

As Flightstones are exclusive to Season 2, you can only use them to upgrade Dragonflight Season 2 PvE gear.

How Do You Earn Flightstones in Patch 10.1?

You will receive Flightstones from a variety of content in Embers of Neltharion. You can get them by participating in outdoor content. World Quests will reward you with Flightstones.

The mobs you kill in quest areas will also give you a small number of Flightstones. Here's sample loot from a Fyrakk Assault.

Flightstones will also drop in raids and dungeons. However, the current drop rate is unknown.

Shadowflame Crests

Shadowflame Crests are Crafting Reagents used to upgrade gear and to craft an optional reagent for crafted gear. You will need different crests to upgrade different types of gear. You can obtain them from Season 2 content, including Aberrus bosses, Mythic+ Dungeons, and outdoor content.

Mythic+ Dungeon Gear in Patch 10.1

Mythic Dungeon Gear continues to use Valor for Upgrades. It has 13 ranks and starts at Item Level 376.

376 is what the current M+ gear starts at, so this must be wrong.

Thanks, I removed that section, the item levels must be placeholder.

So my takeaway is "save all crests for gear that really drops at higher Types" - whichever higher type is reachable for your playstyle.

And that "crests can be exchanged" should be clarified "if you're desperate for a specific one, crests can be downgraded" like talking to the keys manager to get a lesser keystone.

Blizzard has adjusted the price of Imminence of Krag'wa's Executor to 450 Tender. Players who bought it will be refunded 50 Tender via a hotfix.
Blizzard accidentally set the price of the Imminence of Krag'wa's Executor set to 500. They've released a hotfix that sets the price to 450 Tender. Another hotfix is coming for those who already bought it.
      (Source)
We’ve had a trend of pricing Trading Post class sets at 450 Trader’s Tender, and for the first few days of December, a bug caused the Imminence of Krag’wa’s Executor set to sell for 500 Tender. We’ve now hotfixed the game to set that price at 450, as we originally intended.
If you’ve already purchased the set, please hang tight. We’re working on a second hotfix that will refund you the extra 50 Tender. You don’t have to take any steps. That refund will come as soon as we can implement it this month.
      We apologize for the mix-up.

This is your last chance to get the Azure Worldchiller! The mount is going away on December 7!
If you haven't obtained Azure Worldchiller yet, now's a good time to head to Tanaris and defeat Doombringer! The mount's going away on December 7.
Visit your faction's portal room and take the portal to Caverns of Time. Here, you will find Doomwalker, a giant world boss walking near the entrance to the Caverns of Time. Use the Group Finder to search for a group and defeat him! Azure Worldchiller is a 100% drop.

You can also buy Illidari Doomhawk, last year's mount from Historian Ma'di for 5,000 Timewarped Badges.

We weren't quite done with the Covenant ability-turned-class-talent upgrades in patch 10.2.5! A recent PTR build added 5 more classes to the list as the visuals got elevated, and Opaldiia showcased them as well! The Monk's Faeline Stomp is looking pretty great in particular and Spear of Bastion finally getting some humane and non-blinding visuals.
You can check out the previous updates here.
