Dragonflight Season 2 DPS Log Rankings for Aberrus, Day 1

Recommended Posts

Clipboard02.jpg

Here we are as both US and EU guilds had a day to head into Aberrus and we can get some (very preliminary) data from their logs - Heroic logs that is, as only the first three bosses have seen any action in Mythic (which you can read about in our daily summary here).

Heroic

Overall Damage 95th Percentile

Comparing things to the previous logs we had is going to be pretty pointless, as those were for the Vault and for Mythic, so let's just take a very general look at what's up and what's down. We won't be peering into Mythic for a while yet, so here goes Heroic! Also to note, we can't be sure what percentage of players have tier set bonuses active, but it's safe to assume there's more of them here in the 95th percentile than in the overall brackets.

Destruction is back on top, which is definitely the biggest change here, as Unholy did not go away, even after their favorite trinket got nerfed, only dropping to 2nd after dominating the last few weeks of the Vault. Arcane sticks around and is doing well in Aberrus just as it did in the Vault after the 10.1 tuning, as Subtletly also jumps up a lot and straight into 4th. Devastation is still hanging around the top, although it's dropped from its Vault heyday, while Marksmanship has been pretty stable around the top 5 mark throughout the expansion so far. The Shamans are both doing well, sandwiching Shadow and closing out the top 10 with the aid of Outlaw. Frost DKs suffer the biggest switcheroo in the high percentiles, as they drop from the top 3 to the literal last spot. Beast Mastery still can't catch a break and together with the DK and Fury forms the bottom 3.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

Destruction is not a top-player-only beast it seems, as it sits on top in the generalist bracket as well. Unholy, on the other hand, is a few spots down compared to the top percentiles, as both Subtletly and Arcane get past it. Assassination is preferred over Outlaw here, as Retribution also finds itself high up in the rankings, beating out Devastation and Arms. Survival is doing well too, closing out the top 10 and giving non-Marksmanship Hunters hope! The bottom is still filled by Frost DK and Beast Mastery, but it's Demonology that joins them here in the generalist bracket.

Boss Only Damage All Percentiles

Unholy remains at the top in the boss damage department, and is joined by Arcane, as both specs seem to shine in both AoE and single target. Assassination has always been high up in these charts and Destruction also looks like one of the cross-over specs, doing well all-round. In fact, the entire top 10 looks fairly similar to the overall damage profile, so perhaps Aberrus isn't much of an AoE-heavy raid, at least when it comes to Heroic.

Normal

We're also taking a look at Normal, since even Heroic doesn't have the log numbers it used to, with only a (relatively) few guilds even downing the final boss. Arcane is on top here, just ahead of Destruction, and the rest of the specs pretty much align with the Heroic rankings, although they're fairly shuffled around. Shamans only seem to be doing well in high percentiles, however, as they are down both here and in the Heroic all damage percentile charts.

That's our first look at Aberrus and we'll have more once more data comes in. Meanwhile, if you're looking for more information you can check out our Dragonflight class guides, as well as more data from Warcraft Logs here.

To be fair, BM is the only class in the game that has the benefits of both range and melee without the downsides of either.

how is that any kind of advantage without the DPS to back it up? Who the hell cares if a hunter can move while casting if their dps sucks?

They're able to avoid situations that would prevent them from hitting the boss. Melee can't deal damage when they're forced away from the boss while ranged typically deal less damage when they have to move, bm doesn't have either of those drawbacks and can deal their damage unimpeded. The fact of the matter is, good players learn to mitigate these weaknesses while bm doesn't have any weaknesses aside from lower damage and pet AI but the AI can be mitigated by good bm players.

wow, that is the biggest pile of horse dung I have seen in awhile. apparently you do not know how to read a chart. I don't care if Dale Earnhardt is behind the wheel, if your car has a governor set to 50 mph his big swinging dong won't make it go faster.

We're back to dungeon achievements and the sweet, sweet mounts they provide. And the Shadowlands version offers up a really cool one too, the Voracious Gorger!

Unlike most of these types of videos we've covered so far, this one will require another player for two of the achievements, so do keep that in mind. Danta takes us through all the required achievements and everything you'll have to do for them, showing the easiest and fastest way to get them done.
The two achievements you'll need an extra player for are the orb-gathering I Can See My House From Here and the bloody Highly Communicable.

It seems Cataclysm Classic is bringing change to everyone's minds, as LucasVerBeek took it upon himself to rework the two faction capitals!
It's been a while since we saw some major changes to the two cities, and LucasVerBeek has modified quite a lot and even expanded them! While Stormwind is fully completed, Orgrimmar is still a work in progress, and when it's done we'll be getting full lore documents to explain all the changes. Meanwhile let's take a look at the Alliance capital first, as well as accompanying explanations for a few of the changes.

Source: Stormwind 3.0 is Finished, moving on to Orgrimmar.
Here is the initial "changelog", before the whole thing was finished:
      Stormwinds Updates Include:
The canal between the Cathedral Square and the Trade District has become an unofficial nobles district, as noble families have purchased housing.
Old Town: Not much has changed, but the Defias Remnant have found their way back into Stormwind, establishing themselves as vigilantes and working thieve's guild.
Lamb's Shadow: While still part of the Mage Quarter, most natives consider it its own subculture, the name being a polite way to talk about its centerpiece: The Slaughtered Lamb. This area has grown, seeing permanent enclaves of Illadari and Death Knights joining the Warlocks, and also seeing a number of Void Elves migrate to the area.
Quadhammer District: Formally the Dwarven District, the district has evolved and grown, becoming a center of artifice with smaller enclaves of each of the Alliance's more smithing and inventing inclined races: Bronzebeards, Gnomes(Mecha and Otherwise), Dark Irons, and Draenei in that order. The keep near the district that is basically a big nothing-in-game has become the centerpiece of the Lightforged forces within the city, established by Turalyon not long after he took command.
The Pandarian Quarter: Growing from the visiting Tuishi and mainland Pandaren people, the area has become a training ground for monks and a lively entertainment district with a number of new inns and pubs popping up across the lake. Little Pearfin is a subsection of the quarter beneath the waves home to emigrated Jinyu.
Kur'Dor Point: With the growth of the Pandarian Quarter, the Shamans of the Earthern Ring felt a desire to grow closer to nature and moved into Stormwind's northern Mountains. Here, a fusion of Wildhammer and Draenei architecture juts into the sky and has become a font of Shamanistic learning for the Alliance.
Everwood District: Feeling disquieted in a city more stone and mortar than leaf and bough the Darnassian refugees petitioned Anduin to be able to settle in the small wood outside Stormwind to the south-east, near the Genasaur Grave. While many have since left for Belameth, or older Night Elf Territories, others remain having set down roots and training others in the Druidic arts. Notably, most of the current citizens of Everwood are Firbolgs, feeling ignored and underrepresented by the plights of their former neighbors.
Wollerton: Sometimes mockingly referred to as Wolverton, became a sizable Gilnean enclave, though most of the Worgen citizens took to the Everwood District instead, as it allowed easier access to the wider Elwynn Forest. The Embassy, was moved into the Keep by Turalyon, and the building now sits as an unofficial town hall.
Swellnook: A influx of Kul Tiran immigrants saw a reformating of the city's docks, and the rise of a small seaside community of fisherfolk and carpenters, that remains Kul Tiran dominated to this day, excluding the Waveblade Ankoan, who live nearest to the docks, and visiting Tortollans.
Creche Obsidian: The newest enclave to arise in Stormwind, the Dracthyr build it with advisement from the Blue and Black Dragonflights, a glassing tower of stone that sits as an outpost for the Obsidian Warders. As a show of good faith, Deathwing's jaw was moved into the small valley beside the tower.
And here are a few questions answered on the final piece:
If you look at the lake to the south east there are Jinyu living beneath the waves
The Nelves moved the Hyjal portal there and also settled that area because of the remains of the Genesaur flooding the area around their with Spirit/Life Magic. It’s becoming a place for other races to learn about Druidism
The Everbloom portal has been changed to be a connection to Hyjal
Then we're on to Orgrimmar, which isn't quite done yet so looks a lot more sparse:

Source: Orgrimmar 3.0 is coming along.

They are some pretty cool modifications (and expansions), made Inkarnate, so thanks to LucasVerBeek for some impressive work, and we hope he finished it all up and we get the full lore dump!

We've looked at the number of Mythic+ runs completed during the second week of Dragonflight Season 4!
The chart provided by MythicPlusPoster allows us to compare these figures to those from earlier Dragonflight seasons.

This season, Blizzard has adjusted dungeon difficulty settings, making both Heroic and Mythic levels not only suitable for gearing up but also comparable to the Mythic 2-10 keys from Season 3, which were counted in the Mythic+ totals. With Season 4's M +0 being on par with Season 3's M 2-10, it's logical to see a decrease in numbers.
In the first week of Season 4, players completed 1,486,891 Mythic+ runs.
By the second week, the number of runs increased to 1,710,477, which is understandable as players had better gear and could tackle higher Mythic keys.
During Dragonflight Season 1, players completed 1,874,934 runs in the second week. In Season 2, that number rose to 2,151,658. In the second week of Season 3, the count of Mythic+ runs was 2,646,932.
