Final Fantasy XIV just finished its longest maintenances yet on June 17th at 12:13 AM (PDT). The maintenance team certainly worked on a bucket list of fixes, so let's review a few of them!
No more confusing checkmarks in Cosmic Exploration! For Silver Star and Gold Star missions, you will only get a checkmark if you have completed the requirements. In Occult Crescent: South Horn, when Phantom Job Thief used Vigilance, the "Foreseen Offense" status was sometimes missing. Oops! It's been fixed now, thankfully. A number of awkward bugs have also been addressed, like the very Persistent Pot NPC in Occult Crescent: South Horn, or incorrect NPC movement in the Mamool Ja quests. And last but not least, the Japanese Data Center also got an infrastructure update. Patch 7.3 is around the corner, so it definitely helps to fix issues sooner rather than later!

Speaking of the upcoming patch, did you know there's a Live Letter scheduled on Friday, June 20th at 4:00 AM (PDT)? The Letter from the Producer LIVE Part LXXXVII will address the player feedback on both Cosmic Exploration and the Occult Crescent. As well, we will also get a sneak peek of what will be releasing in Patch 7.3!
Many end-game raiders are expecting news of another Ultimate Raid this expansion, but we might also see the next installment in the Echoes of Vana'diel Alliance Raid series too. The Live Letter will be hosted officially on the following streaming services:
YouTube Live Niconico Live Twitch Just as a reminder, the presentation slides will be in both Japanese and English text, but the stream audio will be in Japanese only. Thank you for your understanding!

Cactuar claims World First in FFXIV’s Cosmic Exploration. Find out why this Lunar Project win matters and who might catch up next.

To all of our hard-working Disciples of the Hand and Land, an incredible feat just occurred on the cosmic terrain this past weekend: the first world that completed the Lunar Development Initiative Project is none other than Cactuar!
North America's Cactuar world on Aether completed Stage 20, a World First on June 14th, 2025 at 12:19 PM EST. Currently, no other World has yet achieved the same level of progress. Japan's Tonberry may be the next one to finish, but perhaps another Aether world, Faerie, will surpass them. Only time will tell!

The new Lifestyle Content Cosmic Exploration released in Patch 7.21. Here, both beginners and veterans can contribute to the exploration of the uncharted cosmos. This is a great way to pick up gathering and crafting for the first time in Final Fantasy XIV.
If you want to learn more, check out our Cosmic Exploration Guide! It covers everything from how to play, any exclusive rewards, and even how to become the next Star Contributor!
Better get back to work: those mechs will not pilot themselves, after all! With your collaborative efforts, maybe you too can get an achievement worthy enough for the stars to remember!

Project Goos brings Final Fantasy XIV job-themed goose pins to life! Back the Kickstarter and join our art and Clip Studio Paint giveaway!
Final Fantasy XIV player, get ready to honk your love for Eorzea loud and proud! Artist @niyodoesart has launched a new Kickstarter titled Project Goos: a cute series of FFXIV class-themed goose enamel pins!
      Goose Your Job

Project Goos is a pin collection featuring 9 iconic FFXIV jobs reimagined as adorable, expressive geese, each styled in their level 50 base gearsets. From Warrior main to a loyal White Mage, there's a goose for everyone!
The 1.5" (roughly 3.81cm) pins are crafted in Black Nickel plated Enamel, with up to 8 colors per design, and each stamped "Project Goos" on the backplate. Production is handled in partnership with Vograce Charms, putting an important point on quality.
You can take a look at the example render of the Scholar Pin:

Meet the Artist Behind the Honk
Project Goos is the work of Niyo, an incredible artist and big part of the FFXIV community. You can explore more of their work at niyo.art.
Project Goos started as a funny inside joke within a small Final Fantasy XIV Free Company called the "Honk Tavern" back in early 2020. Inspired by a single playthrough of Untitled Goose Game, a lighthearted community quickly formed around the idea of dressing up geese as FFXIV jobs. This led to a growing Discord community, a mascot called Goos-hime, and even custom stickers.
The Free Company welcomed players who owned the iconic Ugly Duckling minion and embraced a friendly "adopt a sprout" approach to help newcomers through the game. When the pandemic hit, their growing, wholesome community became a social safe place for many new players.
Months ago, what started as a meme transformed into something real when artist Niyo began designing the beloved goose characters as enamel pins. After months of iteration, Project Goos is now ready to bring these pins to life, and you can be part of it!
      Back the Kickstarter
Project Goos will go live on Kickstarter on June 1st, 2025. If you love enamel pins, geese, or just want to support awesome indie creators doing cool things for games we all love, check out the campaign and consider participating in it if you have the possibility to do so:
      Kickstart Campaign for Project Goose
The Kickstarter will run until June 30th, 2025. The first 50 people to claim the Early Bird tier can claim a 30% discount and an exclusive Scholar's Fairy pin that won't be available outside the web shop.

On the Kickstarter page, you can find the complete Roadmap for the Project, including production time and delivery, as well as the various rewards that can be unlocked for each Milestone reached.
One of the biggest surprises in store is a little shared secret: Niyo will be reaching out to 2-3 of the Scions' voice actors to request special cameos as a "thank you"! Which milestone you need to reach for it, however, remains a secret for now.
      Art Giveaway
To celebrate the Kickstarter launch, Icy Veins and Niyo are also teaming up for a special giveaway! The lucky winners will receive:
A 12-month Clip Studio Paint license A full-colour Portrait/Waist art commission from Niyo themself! One Uncoloured Runner-up commission Here is an example of the type of commission that can be done:

Be among the first to try the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy set! Here's how to find prerelease events, what to expect, and how to get started.
Two gaming giants are about to clash when the Final Fantasy Magic: The Gathering set releases in June. It's part of Magic's "Universes Beyond" line-up, where Wizards of the Coast brings outside IPs to Magic in card form. But what if you're a Final Fantasy fan who's never really played Magic, and you're not sure how to get started with the game? Well, a prerelease event is the perfect place to start!
      Why Magic? Why Now?
If you've heard of Magic: The Gathering (MTG) but you're not super familiar with it, just know that it's the best card game ever created. It's infinitely customizable, it has appeal for casual and competitive gamers alike, it supports 1v1 play as well as multiplayer, and it has more than 30 years of history. Simply put, it's the golden standard for trading card games, and it's more popular now than it's ever been.
Magic's always been full of fantastic card designs and worldbuilding, and thanks to Universes Beyond, it's now reaching into new territory by branching into other familiar worlds. Final Fantasy fans will see all the heroes, villains, and settings they love and love to hate in Magic form, so it's a great time to jump into MTG while they're crossing over with one of your favorite franchises.
Magic has already explored other crossovers with properties like Warhammer 40,000, Doctor Who, Fallout, and The Lord of the Rings. Final Fantasy is their next big stepping stone, with future sets planned around Spider-Man and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
      What Is a Magic Prerelease?
A Magic prerelease is a player event that takes place with the release of every new MTG set. It's basically a "sneak peek" of a new set, where people can experience playing with the new cards before anyone else. They're usually low-stakes, casual events where people can open and play with the newest cards and compete for extra prizes.
Prereleases use what's called a "Sealed" format, which means players are given fresh, randomized booster packs of the newest set, and they build the decks they play at the event from the cards they open out of those boosters. You don't have to bring your own deck, and everyone's on the same playing field; you can't just buy all the best cards and try to win that way; you have to play with what you open!
And the best part: Everything you open is yours to keep.
How To Find a Prerelease Near You
If you're not already familiar with any of the local game stores near you, it's not too hard to look them up! Wizards of the Coast has an online Store & Event Locator. All you have to do is type in your city or zip code and you'll see a map of your area, including all the game stores that offer Magic events near you.
There's also a filter near the search bar where you can narrow your search down to just upcoming prerelease events. Pro Tip: Once you find an event you're interested in, call that store and see if you can preregister. The Final Fantasy prerelease in particular should be very popular, and you don't want to wait until the last minute to find out it's sold out!
      How Does Sealed Magic Work?
In a Sealed event, participants will receive six unopened booster packs of the newest set. Packs contain 14 cards each, so players open 84 cards from which to build their deck. Magic decks require some number of basic lands to work, but don't worry: Your tournament organizer or local game store will provide basic lands for you.
You need to build a minimum 40-card deck from among everything you open, which includes your lands. Generally, you want about 17 lands and 23 other cards, so you'll have to narrow the entire pool of 84 cards down to your best cards and play with those. Sticking to just one or two colors can help with the consistency of your deck quite a bit.
Players are usually given about an hour to build their decks, and then they're paired up to play against a random opponent. Rounds usually take about an hour as well, and most stores run events that last for 3-4 rounds. You're probably looking at a 5-hour event from start to finish, and you'll play against at least three other opponents. Prizes are determined by the store owners, and many stores distribute prizes so that everyone walks away with something extra (a few booster packs, usually).

Prereleases offer a little something extra too, compared to normal Sealed events. At a prerelease, you're given a boxed prerelease kit. This contains the six packs you'd normally open, but also a d20 spindown die and a foil, stamped promo card, which is something extra you can play for that event. The box is also a convenient way to carry around your cards.
      Practice With Draftsim's Sealed Simulator

If you're intimidated by the idea of opening up a bunch of packs with new cards you've never seen before, worry not! Draftsim's Sealed Simulator can get you in on the action before the actual event. Just visit draftsim.com, click the Draft Simulator Tab, then All Sets and the set you want to practice, and you're there!
Once the full set list has been revealed, you'll also be able to see Final Fantasy front and center on the site's homepage.

The simulator opens practice Sealed pools for you, and you can toggle cards back and forth to make example decks from the wider card pool. The simulator also lays out cards by color, which is something you might want to try emulating at your in-person event to organize all the cards you open.

You can even sort by color, mana cost, or rarity (rare cards are a big deal in Sealed), and there's even an auto-build feature that can create a rough sketch of what a strong deck from your Sealed pool might look like.
      Next Steps After Prerelease
So you've signed up for your prerelease, or maybe you just got back from your first event. What's next? If you caught the Magic bug, there are plenty of ways to jump into the hobby.
First thing's first, Magic Arena is your best friend. It's the go-to digital platform for Magic, and it's very easy to jump in and learn the basics. There are game modes specifically designed for beginners, and the program dumps a bunch of cards in your lap right away to get started.
Alternatively, you might want to check with your local game store and ask about their Friday Night Magic events. FNM is a time-honored tradition among Magic players, where players of all skill levels can get together on a Friday night and just jam some great games of Magic.
And if you're looking to get into the game with friends, you can check out the Commander format, which is Magic's take on multiplayer. There are countless preconstructed Commander decks you can buy that are somewhat competitive right off the shelves, and it's a great way to play the game with a group of friends. Be warned that Commander's a bit more complex than the normal 1v1 game, so you might want to start with the basics first.
Meet Your New Best Friend: Arena Tutor

Did we say Arena's your best friend? We meant Arena Tutor's your true best friend. Arena Tutor is a free tool created by Draftsim that you can pair with Magic Arena to help you with deckbuilding, drafting, and gameplay. It'll give you AI-driven insight into certain parts of deckbuilding and provide you with helpful statistics while you play. It's exactly the companion piece you need to bump you up from that beginner level to the next stage of Magic stardom.
So what are you waiting for? Magic is an absolutely incredible game, and this is the perfect time to give it a try!

Occult Crescent's Forked Tower 48 man raid got cleared for the first time by Aether Group 2! Here's how they did it!
As always with big Final Fantasy XIV raids, there's a world first race happening!
The recently added Occult Crescent zone introduced a brand-new 48-man raid called Forked Tower, and just a few hours ago, the first team finally cleared it!
Aether Group 2 achieved the world first clear, becoming the first group to conquer the tower. The clear itself took hours of practice and patience, with every player doing their part to make it through each phase. If you're curious about how they did it and want a closer look at the strategies involved, you can watch the full clear. The following video is from a Tank's point of view and shows important mechanics, positioning, and the final moments of the fight.
Forked Tower stands out as one of the most complex and demanding raids in FFXIV Dawtrail. It puts all 48 players to the test with a lot of coordination checks, unforgiving mechanics, and a need for team-wide execution. Many groups had been attempting it since release, but Aether Group 2 managed to pull through, showing how teamwork and dedication can get you far.
If you're thinking about attempting the raid yourself, don't go in unprepared! We have a full Occult Crescent guide on the site to help you get ready and understand what to expect.
Congratulations to Aether Group 2 on the clear!
