Deathwing Shirt Hints at Cataclysm Classic Announcement at BlizzCon 2023

Recommended Posts

Blizzard has put up a Deathwing-themed shirt for sale in the Blizzard Gear Store ahead of BlizzCon 2023. Could the shirt potentially hint at a Classic Cataclysm announcement?

Blizzard now sells a Deathwing black t-shirt on the Blizzard Gear Store for $35. One of the images even has the BlizzCon logo in it.

With only Phase 5 left for Wrath Classic, many probably wonder what's next in store for Classic. The next chapter happens to be Cataclysm and BlizzCon's just around the corner.

Are there many people so eager to play Cataclysm again? It's usually regarded as one of the worst expansions.

Cata was really underrated but had the major World Revamp Neltharion aka Deathwing was really masterpiece from the books . I would play that instead WOTLK  Everyone was like "oh Lich king  dead wow is over, no more" in cata.

Exactly my reaction.    If you keep going forward at some point it's hard to call it "classic".    And Cata definitely suffered with the amount of time they spent on world revamping vs. other stuff, and where the story really went off rails in places, etc.

In so far as how the hype compared to the actual product, no expansion ever disappointed on the level of Cataclysm.  The trailer was badass AF and made Deathwing seem like the most incredible, amazeballs pure BOSS that we'd ever have the privilege to face -- someone to rival or even surpass the Lich King.  What we actually got though is a whiny, sniveling, petty, immature, poorly voiced, astoundingly obnoxious, pieced together brat of a dragon who forced us to pop his back acne and paint his toenails.  Never have I felt so freakin' let down in the history of the game.  It still angers me to think of it.  And yes I did say poorly voiced, because he was.  I don't care what other accolades that voice actor has, because he absolutely sucked pure donkey ballz with Deathwing.  The character is unequivocal, pure unadulterated obnoxiousness incarnate.

Yeah, it doesn't have the same following as TBC and WotLK had. I also don't remember it having any great mechanics, playing my class during this expansion felt rather annoying (also something personal, my original guild and my old server died during Cata, game became like a solo experience, no pugs, even capitals barely had any players there so I decided to take a break).

I hated both Deathwing fights, annoying mechanics!

Sounds like this is the Blizzard incident for Blizzcon this year. Instead of releasing classic+ they go with Cataclysm, seems like a terrible choice and is highly possible.

If they were to release it there may only be one server for it not multiple.  Same for MoP, WoD, and Legion.  Just 1 server to do a slow expansion release to give players some ounce of nostalgia and something to stay subbed by monthly.

It's WoW playerbase you're talking about. They'll be whining and complaining about thing even if those are good.

As it is, Cata's first half was pretty good, Cho'gall and Ragnaros being among my favorite bosses, it's the tail end where thing started to go south. Plus the (in)famous 5-man dungeons at the beginning of the expansion where suddenly "pull 10 packs and AoE" stopped working - you can say Blizzard probably started to think up of a better way to make 5-ppl more intreresting whith all the whining, so the next expasion we got Challenge Mode, and one more later - M+.

Cata sucked. The final Deathwing fight was horrible and even today it is a pain to try and complete.

Deep Freeze on a frost mage on a boss and see absolute crazy dmg. Hearing Nefarian satire comments in Blackwing Decent on boss kills to. His experiments raid is defo idea form 10.1 Raid today. Getting blasted and killed by Deathwing in Uldum leveling up, To actually seeing his scale was nuts! It's not the worst expansion in my opinion.

We're looking at how many raid bosses each World of Warcraft expansion has introduced.
This chart, created by Reddit user throwaway4201251315, lays out the count of raid bosses across all WoW expansions, including Dragonflight.

The chart's fine details are hard to make out, but it's clear that the original Vanilla version launched with the highest number of raid bosses (about 55-60), whereas Dragonflight had the fewest (around 25-30), a figure similar to what we saw in Cataclysm. Notably, Blizzard's decision to skip .3 patches and the introduction of Fated Raids have contributed to a declining trend in the number of raid bosses in both Shadowlands and Dragonflight.
It seems that players generally prefer raids with 8-9 bosses, finding larger raids like Ny'alotha and Sepulcher to be exhausting.

Collecting mounts really has become as much of a part of WoW as raiding, dungeons, questing and PvP at this point, as players constantly want more and more. Today we're taking a look at another hirumaredx video, this time focusing on the 10 rarest mounts players can still obtain today!
While I'm sure this list will be disputed, it's still fun to see what could be considered some of the most rare rides on Azeroth, especially if you happen to own one already! The list is based off of both drop chances and actual difficulty to obtain, as the first one is basically a 100% "drop", but will take a long time to get.

One of the Trading Post activities this month requires players to kill the Lich King for Tender and one lucky player went to Icecrown Citadel and looted Invincible's Reins!
Title Description Travel Points Defeat the Lich King   Kill the Lich King in the Icecrown Citadel.   50 50 Tender convinced naturzaros to visit Icecrown Citadel and kill the Lich King who was very generous in return and dropped Invincible's Reins.

The axe-wielding, tree-burning dragon has a sense of humor, as he will laugh at anyone that dies to his fire during the raid encounter (and you get an achievement if you didn't get it before!
The Still Standing in the Fire achievement came along with patch 10.1 and Fyrakk Assaults. It was a little tricky to get as you had to find where to stand and die to the fire, which didn't really 1-shot you. Luckily with 10.2, it got a whole lot easier (well, for raiders anyway). The achievement is named after the original, where Deathwing had to kill you either during the Dragon Soul raid or when he was breathing all over Azeroth.
As spotted by ah_kooky_kat, dying to Fyrakk in the raid also triggers the achievement, and he still laughs at you!

The very old-school WeakAura in the screenshot also got a lot of attention the the thread below.
