Someone just needs to make a montage of thier character running for their life w/ the Benny Hill Chase theme going in the background.

3 Million deaths in 2 months? How much does the average player die? These statistics seem horribly low.

The numbers make sense. When you consider attrition as a result of casual players giving hardcore a try and never trying again after 1 death or 2 deaths, etc, the number of total deaths over time will decrease as the only players left are more serious about the mode and are less likely to die as often.

Blizzard have detailed additional improvements they've made to the Ashenvale PvP experience, with a focus on everyone getting reputation for killing Lieutenants, mounts coming in at Friendly and the event lasting twice as long.
      Ashenvale (Source)
The following changes are now live:
When a character makes any hostile action against an opposing faction Lieutenant (e.g. Keepers of the Grove, Blademasters) or faction leader in the various objective areas, they will receive reputation when that enemy dies. It must be an offensive action (harmful spell, harmful ability, melee attack, or ranged attack) against an enemy to receive reputation. This also affects Healers who must use an offensive actions against the Lieutenant or faction leader. Characters will receive reputation even if they are dead or no longer nearby as long as they are still in the zone when the enemy dies. Characters will receive 200 reputation for killing a Lieutenant and all members of the winning faction will receive 200 reputation when the faction leader dies. The winning team will also receive 100 reputation per friendly Lieutenant remaining. Example: If there are two Lieutenants alive when the battle is won, a character will gain 200 reputation plus whatever was earned from defeating objectives plus the 200 reputation from killing the enemy faction leader (assuming the character used an offensive action against the faction leader). The Trainee’s Sentinel Nightsaber and Trainee’s Outrider Wolf now require Friendly reputation with the Silverwing Sentinels and Warsong Outriders respectively (was Honored). Players now have 60 minutes to complete the Ashenvale PvP event (was 30 minutes).

Part of the Ashenvale improvements are here in SoD, with a Gizzby fix on top!
      December 6 (Source)
Grizzby will no longer rob you of your extra quest items. Ashenvale PvP The lieutenant and general NPCs in the Season of Discovery Ashenvale PvP event now have much higher health. Generals are now immune to damage until all of their lieutenants have been defeated. While no lieutenants are dead, generals and their nearby allies gain 1000% increased damage. The Horde general’s chain lightning will now hit up to 40 targets.

Blizzard have shared another update on their eternal conflict with bots and unruly players. They have actioned another almost 200,000 accounts this past month!
      Bans (Source)
To provide more transparency on the actions we take against cheating and exploitation, here is an accounting of the number of actions that were taken over the last month, November 2023:
Total Exploitative WoW Account Actions in November 2023: 197455
All of these actions were for cheating or exploitation, which primarily result in permanent bans or 6-month suspensions. This number does not include other actions such as those taken on accounts with character name or in-game language violations. We continue to evolve our methods and act against these malicious accounts on a daily basis.

The very controversial topic of the group finder ever being added to Classic Era/Season of Discovery never really dies, as players just do not see eye to eye on it. Well, however you may feel about it, it does in fact exist in Classic, it's just not functional (yet?). MrGM dug it up and got it to show using a console command, but obviously it's not functional:
