Day 2 of BlizzCon is here, and we're bringing you a live blog of the WoW: Deep Dive panel.

Highlights

  • Game Director Ion Hazzikostas is talking about Delves.
  • Delves are role-agnostic bite-sized quick adventures for 1-5 players.
  • They represent a new endgame pillar.
  • Delves will include a progression system because outdoor content doesn't have anything like that right now.
  • They've learned a lot of lessons from Torghast, Islands, and Scenarios.
  • Delves will be completely optional, unlike mandatory Torghast.
  • The goal with delves is to feel like seamless extensions of the open world, they are not intended to be similar to dungeons.
  • Delves are seamless instanced experiences there won't be any loading screens.
  • Delves will be tied into seasons.
  • An NPC will accompany you in your adventures. For Season 1 it's Brann. You can gear him up and spec him to complement your playstyle.

  • You enter a fogged door and find explorers at the entrance in the delve. They need your help to proceed. You will have a candle with a light radius with limited fuel, fight kobolds and take their candles. This will help keep your light burning so you can traverse the delve. At the end you make your end to the vault room with treasures that Brann can open.
  • Some treasures (Resplendent Chests) will require special keys to open.

  • 12 delves are planned for launch (3 per zone), and there's a secret delve.

  • A new World Tab will be added to the Great Vault in War Within.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.12.54.jpg

  • The PvP row has been removed from the Great Vault. There will be less randomness in terms of gearing for PvP players.
  • A customizable flying mount will be available through thorough completion of delves.

  • Playing alts is the norm today. WoW originally built with different assumptions. Alt friendliness runs into challenges.
  • Warbands offer a new foundation with the focus on convenience & flexibility, not power.
  • Here is an account-wide bank. If you provide reagents here you can craft from any of your characters!

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.18.47.jpg

  • You can get items that will be Warbound Until Equipped. You can add them to your Bank for alts to use. The items drop as bonus personal loot at a slightly lower ilvl the content would usually give you. They don't want you to play multiple chars to funnel gear to your main.

  • Transmog collection will be account-wide. This doesn't mean Mages can wear Plate! When a Mage sees a Plate drop, the piece will be added to the account-wide collection and you can transmog it on a Warrior.
  • War Within reputations will be account-wide. This doesn't apply to reputations introduced before the new expansions.
  • Flight paths will be account-wide.
  • The vast majority of achievements will be account-wide thanks to Warbands!

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.23.01.jpg

  • Here is the Warbands screen. Evokers will start at Level 10 in War Within because Dragonflight will be the default player experience.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.23.28.jpg

  • There are 10 Hero Talents available in War Within.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.27.13.jpg

  • Druids are complicated so they always try them out first when implementing new systems, hence the number of Druid examples.
  • Here we have examples of some Hero Trees.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.28.39.jpg

  • Here are some of the passives included in the Keeper of the Grove tree.

  • Now, we're looking at Elune's Chosen tree.

  • Here's the Hero specs list currently planned for War Within.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.32.06.jpg

  • The Alpha will most likely hit in Spring 2024. They want to have all the Hero specs available by then.
  • Earthen Allied Race can roll all classes but Demon Hunters, Druids, and Evokers. Here is the concept of their Heritage Armor set.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.34.42.jpg

  • Dragonriding is here to stay -- now it's called Dynamic Flight.
  • Many mounts have been updated to support dynamic flight.
  • Dynamic Flight will be available in all flyable areas.
  • You can choose between Dynamic Flight and TBC flying.
  • Dynamic Flight will be available from the start in Khaz Algar.
  • Old school TBC flying will not be available immediately, but shortly after hitting max level, no need to grind it out.
  • Dragonriding glyphs are shifting to evergreen system.
  • Dynamic Flight is the new baseline.
  • A new Battleground has been added in War Within, it's a 10v10 map inspired by Silvershard Mines with a symmetrical layout.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.39.43.jpg

  • An 8v8 solo queue experience is coming in 10.2 and depending on how that goes, we may see the new War Within battleground being offered as a Rated 8v8 experience as well.
  • The spellbook has been updated! It's now a one stop shop for all abilities and talents you have access to.

  • The overall aesthetic of the Quest Log has been improved with many filters added.

Snímka obrazovky 2023-11-04 o 20.42.08.jpg

  • Cross-Realm guilds will be implemented in War Within, you an recruit players freely regardless of realm. Cross-realm Mythic raiding will be available from Day 1.
  • The Hall of Fame will not be tied to unlocking anything.
  • This is another step towards removing barriers to social play in WoW.

We're looking at how many raid bosses each World of Warcraft expansion has introduced.
This chart, created by Reddit user throwaway4201251315, lays out the count of raid bosses across all WoW expansions, including Dragonflight.

The chart's fine details are hard to make out, but it's clear that the original Vanilla version launched with the highest number of raid bosses (about 55-60), whereas Dragonflight had the fewest (around 25-30), a figure similar to what we saw in Cataclysm. Notably, Blizzard's decision to skip .3 patches and the introduction of Fated Raids have contributed to a declining trend in the number of raid bosses in both Shadowlands and Dragonflight.
It seems that players generally prefer raids with 8-9 bosses, finding larger raids like Ny'alotha and Sepulcher to be exhausting.

Collecting mounts really has become as much of a part of WoW as raiding, dungeons, questing and PvP at this point, as players constantly want more and more. Today we're taking a look at another hirumaredx video, this time focusing on the 10 rarest mounts players can still obtain today!
While I'm sure this list will be disputed, it's still fun to see what could be considered some of the most rare rides on Azeroth, especially if you happen to own one already! The list is based off of both drop chances and actual difficulty to obtain, as the first one is basically a 100% "drop", but will take a long time to get.

The axe-wielding, tree-burning dragon has a sense of humor, as he will laugh at anyone that dies to his fire during the raid encounter (and you get an achievement if you didn't get it before!
The Still Standing in the Fire achievement came along with patch 10.1 and Fyrakk Assaults. It was a little tricky to get as you had to find where to stand and die to the fire, which didn't really 1-shot you. Luckily with 10.2, it got a whole lot easier (well, for raiders anyway). The achievement is named after the original, where Deathwing had to kill you either during the Dragon Soul raid or when he was breathing all over Azeroth.
As spotted by ah_kooky_kat, dying to Fyrakk in the raid also triggers the achievement, and he still laughs at you!

The very old-school WeakAura in the screenshot also got a lot of attention the the thread below.
