WoW 2 Rumor Debunked: More Expansions Coming After Worldsoul Saga

The announcement of the Worldsoul Saga has sparked some juicy speculation among fans about the possibility of a 'World of Warcraft 2' on the horizon. Despite the buzz, Blizzard has quashed those rumors.

At BlizzCon 2023, Blizzard revealed Worldsoul Saga, hinting at a trio of WoW expansions possibly dropping annually. The fanbase wasted no time heading to Reddit to unpack their predictions and theories.

Chris Metzen's description of the Worldsoul Saga as the "culmination of 20 years of storytelling" really stirred the pot, leading many to wonder...

Could Blizzard be setting the stage for a WoW 2, using Worldsoul Saga as the stepping stone?

It's clear Blizzard wants to start working on WoW 2

But Blizzard threw cold water on that theory in a Digital Trends interview, committing to more WoW expansions even after the Worldsoul Saga. It looks like WoW 2 isn't on the table, at least for now.

World of Warcraft has consistently received expansions since it launched in 2004, and that shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon as Blizzard delivers the grand payoff for a story that’s been building for over two decades. Hight did clarify one lingering question about the culmination of The Worldsoul Saga: “This is not the end of World of Warcraft; this is the end of this big chapter. We will continue to do expansions beyond that.”

Maybe people should just stop trying to will their unfounded ideas into reality. Posting something you want to happen on social media doesn't make it any more real or likely. Just enjoy the ride people.

Well tbh, that's how it goes with games and movies A LOT lately. I see some good games and movies being completely burned down because it didn't met with people's impossible expectations and the fact that many people think that a rating on a scale of 1 to 10 means you can only pick 1 and 10. There's no such thing as a 7 for them, that means it's not a 10 so it's a 1. I absolutely hate this line of thinking and yet it keeps getting more popular.

A good example that is bound to happen is the next Deadpool movie. You can already see so many people on social media expecting over 100 characters and cameos that they made up themselves, and I can promise that these people are going to scream the loudest when they find out their dream isn't an reality.

So I completely agree with you. People should learn how to enjoy the ride and enjoy things even if they weren't exactly as expected. A game/movie doesn't require to be perfect just to be enjoyable.

That's not "speculations", that's deranged delusions. WoW 2 was 15 years ago and it was called TBC. We're in WoW 10 right now.

Blizzard has zero initiative to pretty much dump down the drain contents of all player's accounts with a separate product. They can introduce arbitrary time skip and setting change simply with new expansion.

We're looking at how many raid bosses each World of Warcraft expansion has introduced.
This chart, created by Reddit user throwaway4201251315, lays out the count of raid bosses across all WoW expansions, including Dragonflight.

The chart's fine details are hard to make out, but it's clear that the original Vanilla version launched with the highest number of raid bosses (about 55-60), whereas Dragonflight had the fewest (around 25-30), a figure similar to what we saw in Cataclysm. Notably, Blizzard's decision to skip .3 patches and the introduction of Fated Raids have contributed to a declining trend in the number of raid bosses in both Shadowlands and Dragonflight.
It seems that players generally prefer raids with 8-9 bosses, finding larger raids like Ny'alotha and Sepulcher to be exhausting.

Collecting mounts really has become as much of a part of WoW as raiding, dungeons, questing and PvP at this point, as players constantly want more and more. Today we're taking a look at another hirumaredx video, this time focusing on the 10 rarest mounts players can still obtain today!
While I'm sure this list will be disputed, it's still fun to see what could be considered some of the most rare rides on Azeroth, especially if you happen to own one already! The list is based off of both drop chances and actual difficulty to obtain, as the first one is basically a 100% "drop", but will take a long time to get.

The axe-wielding, tree-burning dragon has a sense of humor, as he will laugh at anyone that dies to his fire during the raid encounter (and you get an achievement if you didn't get it before!
The Still Standing in the Fire achievement came along with patch 10.1 and Fyrakk Assaults. It was a little tricky to get as you had to find where to stand and die to the fire, which didn't really 1-shot you. Luckily with 10.2, it got a whole lot easier (well, for raiders anyway). The achievement is named after the original, where Deathwing had to kill you either during the Dragon Soul raid or when he was breathing all over Azeroth.
As spotted by ah_kooky_kat, dying to Fyrakk in the raid also triggers the achievement, and he still laughs at you!

The very old-school WeakAura in the screenshot also got a lot of attention the the thread below.
