WoW Classic Patch 1.15.0 Notes

Recommended Posts

75798-classic-era-patch-1150-ptr-notes.j

Here come the full patch notes for 1.15.0, with UI changes, a new lost and found NPC for quest reward trinkets, and a lot of bug fixes as well. Just as a reminder, this is not the Season of Discovery patch, but a precursor. SoD arrives on November 30th.

Blizzard LogoPatch Notes (Source)

Default UI Adjustments

  • Enemy castbars can now be enabled in the default UI in the Options menu under Interface.
  • Damage over time abilities and other debuffs will now display their remaining duration on the default enemy unit frame.

Developers’ notes: These are oft-requested quality-of-life features that are easily accessible using addons, so we’ve decided to just go ahead and add this functionality to the default UI, especially since this functionality has never been a restricted part of the Interface API.

Lost and Found

  • Added the lost and found vendor Rix Xizzix. This vendor will sell you certain quest reward trinkets that you may have misplaced. He’s located just to the south outside the Old Port Authority in Booty Bay.

Bug Fixes

  • The NPC Names Setting in the Options menu under Interface now functions properly.
  • Fixed an issue with the “clucking” animation that plays when you use the Skull of Impending Doom that caused the animation to not loop properly.
  • Taurens are now properly limbered up and their extra combat reach has been restored. Remember, it’s always important to properly stretch before doing physical exercise.
  • Warrior - Fixed an issue that allowed you to incorrectly swap to the stance you are already in.
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause incorrect options to appear when right-clicking a member of a shared Battle.net group to send a whisper.
  • Fixed various interface errors with the Options menu.
  • Fixed an interface error that sometimes occurred when abandoning a quest.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed raid and party members without assist or set target markers.
  • Fixed an issue where some class and profession trainers were missing gossip options or had incorrect gossip options.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Redoubt to not proc when the Paladin is not wearing a shield.
    • Developers’ notes: This is authentic behavior which was fixed/changed at some point during Classic, and we’ve decided to restore it for Classic Era, Hardcore, and Season of Discovery.

I'm betting the "clucking Skull of Impending Doom" is what caused the extended hardcore maintenance. Hope everyone is happy!

Classic is all the feels and I'm pretty #nochanges but the cast bars and buff timers are pretty sweet.

Those just seem like things that should have been there all along honestly.

None of the Above have achieved the world's first Blackfathom Deeps raid clear just 18 hours after Season of Discovery launch.
While the vast majority is still fighting the login boss, some have not only reached Level 25 but have also cleared the first Level 25 raid of Phase 1 - Blackfathom Deeps. Congrats to None of the Above!

Blizzard have detailed some initial changes they're making to Season of Discovery, mostly to runes, but also to Ashenvale PvP and more.
      SoD (Source)
Over the first 24 hours of Season of Discovery, we made a few discoveries of our own that resulted in design changes. We expect that most players haven’t seen much of this yet, but want to note it for reference.
      Season of Discovery
Healing caused by Arcane Explosion reduced by 80%. We did not intend for Mage healing to trivialize content. The Explosive Shot rune ability has been redesigned and its damage dramatically decreased. Each time it deals damage, it now damages all enemies within 8 yards of the primary target. Chimera Shot damage reduced to 85% weapon damage. When it comes to output, Hunters are proving to be an outlier. With these changes, Explosive Shot should fill the AOE niche and Hunters should still be very strong, but also more in-line with the output of other classes at level 25. Adjustments have been made to the Ashenvale PvP event to allow it to start a bit easier. Please be reminded that there will not be much intrigue here until Ashenvale is teeming with level 25 players. Numerous fixes have been made to Rune acquisitions to make them less prone to bottlenecking. Fixed a bug with Twilight Lord Kelris in Blackfathom Deeps that was causing him to target pets with his abilities too often, including his Sleep ability, which should no longer target pets at all. Fixed a bug with Aku’mai’s Void Elemental adds that caused their Shadowbolt Volley ability to deal incorrect damage. Going forward, if we need to make changes that will impact gameplay, we’ll note them in our usual Hotfixes Update.
We encourage you to let us know about any bugs you encounter using the in-game Bug Reporter.
      Thank you!

Blizzard has locked Living Flame and Lone Wolf SoD realms to new players in the EU region. Crusader Strike (US) follows the same pattern. Players who wish to enjoy PvP should select the Chaos Bolt realm.
For those who already have characters on said realms, you should see no change.

Blizzard have decided to open a new RP-PvP realm in Season of Discovery, Chaos Bolt, for both US and EU players, as well as increase population caps for existing ones.
      New Realm (Source)
As we’ve gradually increased the population caps on all Season of Discovery realms over the last three hours, it has become clear that interest in playing on the RP-PvP ruleset is high enough to justify an additional realm.
Please encourage your friends to join you on the Chaos Bolt realm for a roleplaying war with the other faction! We’ll see you there.

Season of Discovery is now live and here's Blizzard's official blog post for the update covering its main features like Rune Engraving.
In case you've missed it, we have a new Season of Discovery guide section on our site and we cover the specific guides in the following post.
      (Source)
Season of Discovery is now live for World of Warcraft® Classic! The time has come to gather your friends, create a new character, and scour the lands of Azeroth to discover class-altering abilities, new endgame activities, and a new Rune Engraving system.
This Season brings an initial level cap of 25 and a new level-25 endgame, including a 10-player Blackfathom Deeps raid with new mechanics, new and reimagined bosses to challenge player tactics and strategies, and fresh rewards.
      What's in Store
      Discover Your Playstyle
Hidden throughout Azeroth are special runes waiting to be discovered. These runes can augment player characters in new and exciting ways by providing access to abilities not available in WoW Classic. Some runes will be in plain sight, others will be tucked away, and a few will require teamwork to access.
      Freedom to Experiment
Rune engraving will allow players to apply and remove abilities at will as they experiment with different builds to create a truly unique play experience.
      A New Approach to Endgame
Season of Discovery will start with an initial level cap of 25. Over time, the cap will incrementally increase to offer a more progressive endgame experience that will shift with each level band as new abilities become available for players during level-up.
      Classic Dungeons Reimagined
Each phase's level cap will provide new content for players to experience, starting with the level 25 Blackfathom Deeps 10-player raid: formerly a level-up 5-player dungeon, it has been reworked with redesigned boss encounters to offer exciting challenges that will put players' builds to the test.
Put Your Builds and Skills to the Test
For players more interested in testing their builds and skills against others, there will be an outdoor PvP event in Ashenvale. Additionally, the Honor system and Battlegrounds will be available from day one.
      Realms of Adventure Await
We've expanded the capacity of our realms for Season of Discovery to support more players. As a part of the initial launch, players may still experience some queues. We will be monitoring realm health and populations should additional realms be needed.
PvP realms, in particular, have been designed to maintain faction balance as they grow. To help maintain a regular balance between the factions, creating new characters in a more dominant faction may be temporarily limited on a specific realm until a closer equilibrium is reestablished. Please note that enforced faction balance and temporary character creation limitations will only be limited to PvP realms and will not affect PvE realms.
      Getting Into Season of Discovery
To begin your new adventure, download and install the Battle.net desktop app. Access to Season of Discovery is available to all players with an active World of Warcraft subscription—no additional purchase is required. Players can subscribe by visiting the Battle.net Shop.
Open the Battle.net desktop app and select World of Warcraft from the game selection menu. It may need to update itself if you haven't run it recently. Select World of Warcraft Classic. You'll see a second dropdown for Account if you have more than one World of Warcraft account and select the active account you wish to play on (first-time adventurers or those looking for a fresh start will need to create a new Battle.net account. Click the Install button. You'll see an installation progress bar showing you when the installation is available to play. Once the installation is complete, click the Play button. Select the Season of Discovery realm you want to play on, which will be identified in the Realm Selection tabs along with Classic and Hardcore. Select Create New Character to choose your faction, class, and race, then customize your character and name them. For the best experience, make sure your graphics drivers are up to date—for the current system requirements for PC and Mac, visit our support page.
Learn more about what's next for the Season of Discovery in our latest WoWCast. We look forward to seeing what new adventures you undertake this Season!
