Reclaiming Gilneas in Patch 10.2.5: Who's Behind Everything?

Recommended Posts

Even though the "Reclaiming Gilneas" questline won't be available for testing on the 10.2.5 PTR, we have solid evidence who's behind everything. This post contains spoilers.

Some NPCs are currently labeled as "Unknown" in Gilneas, which means Blizzard is encrypting stuff until the patch hits live servers, but MrGM discovered dead Scarlet Crusader bodies in the area.

So not the Undead but Scarlet Crusade is responsible for the Gilneas takeover.

On top of that, a thread related to the individual questlines of the Gilneas Reclamation storyline appeared on MMO-C but the font looks finnicky, so take it with a big grain of salt since it's most likely fake, but it hints at Calia's involvement in the questline, which honestly makes sense.

This seems so random to have Scarlet Crusade there. We've already destroyed them a couple of times, yet they somehow still have an army that is capable of holding a kingdom?

It isn't too random, sure we destroyed what crusaders were left in the Eastern Kingdoms but there were still a ton of them in Northrend. Add the fact that many humans were livid after seeing what the Forsaken have done over the years and suddenly they're meant to just let that all go because Sylvanas manipulated them all and you have a resurgence. That said, I doubt they actually considered any of this and just thought to bring in a familiar enemy since attempts to make new ones haven't really worked well.

We destroyed Legion, we'll probably destroy Void, but Scarlet nope... 🤣

There problem of The Scarlet Crusade is that they are in the "grey zone". They are not completely wrong also they are not an absolute evil. Just a mold which is not necessarily a bad thing.

We also destroyed those in the Northrend (there were quests related to them) and their force there wasn't that big. If there were some survivors, they shouldn't have any force that would pose a significant threat, especially they shouldn't be capable of holding Gilneas. Besides, it seems random for them to be there, where there were no undead (Forsaken pulled out years ago). Also, Gilneas was supposed to be already retaken in the lore (I think it was in some book or some short story), but it seems they walked back on it.

Reddit user Bonelord911 tried to organize all specializations by their alignment to the cosmology chart and here's the result!
There's just one slight inconsistency as ItisCaleb and Evonyte pointed out. Monks should be at Spirit, close to reality, since the Chi is a Spirit element according to the Chronicles.

The individual items that comprise the Dark Ranger General's transmog set have been added in the latest Patch 10.2.5 build. The armor set allows players to resemble Sylvanas Windrunner.
Hunters will probably be happy with the addition of the Dark Ranger General's armor set! Here's a preview of the set. At this time, the source of the ensemble remains unknown. It is possibly tied to the Gilnean Reclamation or Trading Post, we'll see.

Blizzard added a new Night Elf child model in this week's Patch 10.2.5 build.
The model is used NPCs that have moved to Bel'ameth and Belanaar harbor, as indicated in the latest development notes.

Many Night Elves are now starting to arrive in Bel’ameth and Belanaar harbor to settle in their new homes. In addition to these new hubs, explore other areas across the island to find new night elf cosmetic treasures. Here's a detailed look at the new model. The model looks a bit creepy and the feet are somewhat low texture. Hopefully this will get fixed in a future build.

For more details about the new Night Elf home, check the detailed zone preview by MrGM. Did you know Bel'ameth is a neutral city? Even Horde players can enter!

This week's Patch 10.2.5 build brought an updated map of Amirdrassil.
We're talking about the non-phased Amirdrassil zone available to everyone in the latest update. For comparison, here's the old map from the previous PTR build.

And here's the updated map from this week's Patch 10.2.5 build. Bel'ameth has been marked on the map along with other areas like Belanaar port.

Amirdrassil has also been added to the world map in the previous PTR build.

The new Night Elf home Bel'aneth added in Patch 10.2.5 is a neutral city. However, Horde players who enter the city will see a debuff informing them that they are being watched.
The debuff's name is Eyes of the Sentinels and the tooltip reads: Seen and unseen eyes alike are watching your every move.
