Will We See Dynamic Ground Mounts in the Future?

Recommended Posts

43498-patch-82-mechacycle-model-w-mount.

The initial Patch 10.2.5 brought a test mount called "Prototype Dynamic Ground Mount [DNT]. What if Blizzard's experimenting with ground mounts that come with abilities and their own physics, just like Dragonriding flyers?

The mount database has been updated with a new entry in Patch 10.2.5 named Prototype Dynamic Ground Mount [DNT].

It has the following flavor text that mentions Model W from Battle for Azeroth!

"The rapid technological evolution of the descendents of Mimiron began with the introduction of a new gear, leading to such wonders as the tragically under-produced Model W".

I know there are a lot of people that love dragon riding and enjoy the concept of restricted travel. Additionally, I see nothing wrong with such things being an option, I just do not desire to see any of my existing normal mounts receive the "mount as a vehicle" treatment. While they may move slower, traditional mounts offer 100% freedom, they can hover, and I have a LOT of them. I'm really hoping Blizzard takes into account that not everyone likes this new path for mounts and keeps it as an option and not an outright change.

I can see this working with abilities like a boost (a small boost straight forward, but you can't turn when activated), a jump (to jump up ledges and hills so you don't have to walk around) and a glide option (when jumped off hills for a small flight and no fall damage) as examples. I personally never liked the quests where you had to mount something that kept running non-stop, so I don't think that's the way to go (I think it only works with dragonflight).

I only hope that they keep this option off for dungeons. There are a LOT of dungeons where you can mount up and I don't think some people should have an advantage because they use dynamic ground mounts better.

I dont think this makes sense now that we are expecting (rightfully) to fly at the start of every expansion. This would have been a great thing to add during BFA or shadowlands where you forced ppl to stay on the ground and explore and then give them special mounts to explore with.

Also this tag could simply be for a category of "ground mounts" that have similar ?spinning?/running movement when they fly.

There is a hack for this. Log into GW2 and check their mounts. They have ground mounts with abilities (and different ones have different abilities). Some of those will (eventually) gravitate over to WOW. They already borrowed the fractal system (became M+) and a bunch of other features.

Nothing wrong with that- everything a human learns is mostly by copying. You copy the basis- then you should put your own take on it.

Well. They originally made dragon riding by taking inspiration from the Skyscale and Gryphon mounts from GW2. They could take another leaf out of that book and make something inspired on the scarab beetle mount, wich is gw2 version of a ultra high speed ground mount.

I assume its going to be like D4 mounts? with sprint buttons and probably some type of jump ! there isnt much you can do with a ground mount anyway 😄

Unless we get horse races

I love this idea as a feature to just make a better game overall. Ground mounts probably won’t be used too much with dynamic flying available. But add some really fun jumping and gliding, and add significant speed boosts, and it’ll be great 🙂

Blizzard has added a completely new category to the Great Vault in the War Within. Find out more about the updated requirements!
While we can't bring up the UI on the Alpha, based on datamining, we were able to figure out that the PvP row has been completely removed and replaced with a World row, as indicated by the new global strings for Build 54675.
GREAT_VAULT_REWARDS_WORLD_INCOMPLETE - Complete %1$d more |4delve:delves; or |4world activity:world activities; this week to unlock a Great Vault reward. New World Category
As you can see, you can complete delves or other world activities to unlock items in the new World row, which is cool for players who do not want to do Mythic+ or Raids.
To unlock items in the new row, you must complete 3/6/12 delves or world activities. Completing world activities will be equivalent to completing a certain Tier of delves.
To increase the reward's item level, you must complete Delves at a higher tier. We have 9 tiers in total with the last two being only for bragging rights (awarding cosmetics).
Great Vault Requirements in the War Within
Here are the updated requirements for the weekly chest in the War Within.
      Raids
Defeat 2/4/6 raid bosses to unlock slots 1-3. Dungeons

Struggling in delves? The new Determination buff has got your back in the War Within.
If you’ve ever done LFR, you’re probably familiar with the Determination buff. When your raid wipes, your damage, healing, and health get a boost. Now, this same mechanic is coming to delves, which is surprising given that delves can be tackled solo or in a group.
Delver's Determination is a buff you receive when you die too much in delves. It increases your damage, healing, and health by 5%, stacking. Every delve ends with a boss fight. If you’re finding the final boss too challenging, don’t worry. You’ll gain a stack of Delver's Determination every time the boss defeats you, giving you a better chance to succeed on your next try.
