Huge 10.2.5 Class Tuning: January 23rd

Blizzard just announced a big class tuning pass coming with next week's reset! 7 classes get adjusted on the PvE side (with mostly buffs) and 9 in PvP (with both buffs and nerfs). PvP is also getting some armor bonus changes, root-break damage adjustments and gladiator trinket tweaks.

We continue to closely monitor data on class performance as well as player feedback. We’ve developed the following adjustments to classes that are over- and under-performing in group content and PvP. These changes will go into effect with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region.


  • Death Knight
    • Blood
      • Bone Shield now grants armor based on 80% of Strength (was 70%).
    • Frost
      • All damage dealt increased by 4%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
    • Unholy
      • All damage dealt by you and your pet’s abilities increased by 4%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
  • Druid
    • Feral
      • Rip damage increased by 10%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Rake periodic damage increased by 5%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Primal Wrath damage increased by 10%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Feral Frenzy damage increased by 5%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Lunar Inspiration damage increased by 10%.
      • Rampant Ferocity damage increased by 25%.
    • Restoration
      • Swiftmend now costs 1.4% base mana (was 1.6%).
      • Grove Guardian now costs 1% base mana (was 1.2%).
      • Wild Growth now costs 3.8% base mana (was 4%).
      • Regrowth now costs 2.8% base mana (was 3.2%).
      • Efflorescence now costs 3% base mana (was 3.2%).
  • Hunter
    • Survival
      • All damage dealt by Hunter and Hunter’s pet’s abilities is increased by 4%.
  • Paladin
    • Holy
      • Shield of the Righteous damage increased by 30%.
      • Consecration damage increased by 30%.
    • Retribution
      • Wake of Ashes damage increased by 20%.
      • Truth’s Wake damage increased by 28%.
      • Seething Flames damage increased by 28%.
      • Blade of Justice damage increased by 20%.
      • Final Verdict damage increased by 10%.
  • Priest
    • Holy
      • Holy Word: Sanctify’s healing increased by 25%.
      • Heal’s healing increased by 25%.
      • Flash Heal healing increased by 15%.
      • Holy Word: Chastise’s damage increased by 30%.
      • Smite’s damage increased by 30%.
      • Shadow Word: Pain’s damage increased by 15%.
    • Shadow
      • Mind Blast damage increased by 10%.
      • Devouring Plague damage increased by 10%.
      • Shadowy Apparition damage increased by 20%.
      • Psychic Link now causes direct damage spells to inflict 30% of their damage on all other targets afflicted by your Vampiric Touch (was 25%).
  • Shaman
    • Restoration
      • All healing increased by 5%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Lava Burst damage increased by 20%.
      • Flame Shock damage increased by 20%.
      • Lightning Bolt damage increased by 20%.
  • Warrior
    • Arms
      • Cleave damage increased by 10%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Dreadnaught damage increased by 30%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Deep Wounds damage increased by 15%. Not applied to PvP Combat.
      • Amirdrassil 4 set bonus - Bonus damage for the triggered Thunder Clap increased to 200% (was 100%). Not applied to PvP Combat.
    • Protection
      • Vanguard now grants a 40% increase to Stamina (was 35%).
      • Ignore Pain absorption increased by 5%.

Player vs. Player Changes

  • General
    • Cloth specialization classes now gain an additional 35% armor in Arenas and Battlegrounds.
    • Plate specialization classes now have their armor reduced by 30% in Arenas and Battlegrounds.
    • The Gladiator’s Distinction 2-piece set bonus now increases Stamina by 15% for Damage Dealer and Tank roles (was 5%).
    • The Gladiator’s Distinction 2-piece set bonus now increases Stamina by 20% for Healer roles (was 15%).
    • All fear and root effects in PvP may now take 100% more damage before canceling in PvP combat.
  • Death Knight
    • Unholy
      • Festering Wound damage is now increased by 180% in PvP Combat (was 195%).
      • Death Coil damage is now increased by 60% in PvP Combat (was 70%).
      • Necrotic Wound now absorbs 3% of healing received (down from 4%) and heals for up to 3% of the Death Knight’s maximum health (down from 4%).
  • Druid
    • Moonkin Form now increases armor by 100% in PvP (was 125%).
    • Deep Roots increases the amount of damage required to cancel Entangling Roots or Mass Entangle by 75% (was 250%).
    • Feral
      • Frenzied Regeneration is no longer decreased by 20% in PvP for Feral Druids.
    • Restoration
      • Mana regeneration now reduced by 50% in PvP Combat (was 45%).
      • Healing reduced by 5% in PvP Combat.
  • Mage
    • Rigid Ice increases the amount of damage required to cancel Frost Nova by 20% in PvP combat (was 80%).
    • Frost
      • Amirdrassil 4-piece set effectiveness is no longer reduced in PvP.
  • Monk
    • Windwalker
      • Amirdrassil 2-piece set effectiveness is now reduced by 80% in PvP Combat (was 60%).
  • Priest
    • Discipline
      • Amirdrassil 2-piece set effectiveness is no longer reduced in PvP.
  • Rogue
    • Subtlety
      • Eviscerate damage reduced by 10% in PvP Combat.
  • Shaman
    • Restoration
      • Armor reduced by 12.5% in PvP.
  • Warlock
    • Nightmare increases the amount of damage required to cancel Fear by 30% in PvP combat (was 60%).
  • Warrior
    • Fury
      • Anger Management now reduces Recklessness and Ravager’s cooldown by 1 second per 15 rage spent (was 20 rage).

      Blizzard is nerfing Mythic Tindral with next week's maintenance, reducing his health and the health of Fiery Vines by 10%.
      During our next scheduled weekly maintenance, we’ll make the following adjustments:
      Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope
      Tindral Sageswift Tindral’s health reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty. Fiery Vines’ health reduced by 10% in Mythic difficulty.

      During one raid, we got to see the Fyr'alath bad luck protection buff work wonders, yielding 12 drops from a single Fyrakk kill.
      Sacolas shared an interesting shot on Reddit, showing 12 Fyr'alaths dropping simultaneously! This might just be the record for the most Fyr'alath the Dreamrender drops we've seen from a single kill to date. Sadly, the original poster missed out on the quest item, and looted instead a Greater Ember of Fyr'alath. Here's hoping for better luck next week!

      The World Quest for Fathom Dweller is finally up on EU servers after almost a year. Check out how to summon Kosumoth the Hungering and get the mount before others do!
      Here's what the mount looks like.

      The quest won't pop up by itself. Instead, you must unlock it.
      First, download a WoW Addon that shows you coordinates to figure out where you are and where you need to be. Something like MapCoords or TomTom will do. Head to Broken Shore 37/71 and talk to Drak'thul. Head to 57/52 and enter the Musty Cave. Click on the Mound of Dirt that is hard to notice. You will receive Weathered Relic. Return to 37/71 and talk to Drak'thul again and go through all his dialog options. Now comes the more difficult part. You must click on 10 Hungering Orbs in the exact order. If another player clicks on them, it takes approximately 20 minutes for them to become clickable again, so they have a cooldown. Here are coords for all the Hungering Orbs: Azsuna: 37/37: The first orb is located in a secret cave behind the tree. Stormheim: 33/75: The second orb is located in a cave where Kangaxx is. Val'sharah 41/80 Find another secret cave located inside a tree. The third orb is guarded by an Elemental.  Broken Shore 31/76: You will find an underwater cave that hides the fourth orb. Azsuna 59/12: Behind the crystals is yet another secret cave. The fifth orb is located on the ground next to a broken table. Stormheim 67/14: Near the underwater shark is a crevice that leads to a cave that contains the sixth orb. Try to avoid the steams, as they deal high damage. This orb may be the most difficult for you to get. Highmountain 52/36: Enter the Haglands and follow the path to your right. Above halfway down (55/36), you want to jump down to a ledge with a cave. Do not enter the first cave since it's a decoy. Instead, turn right and head to the actual cave to find the seventh orb. Azsuna 54/26: Under the bushes near a tree is another secret cave. The eighth orb is somewhat hidden, too, located in a bush near a pillar inside the cave. Broken Isles World Map 50/91: Find underwater wreckage to get through a secret cave. This one is hard to explain, so we advise you to check out MadSeasonShow's video (timestamp). You will find the ninth orb to your right. Broken Shore 37/71: Head back to Drak'thul and click the final orb on the table behind him. After you click it, the DANGER: Kosumoth the Hungering World Quest spawns at 46/49 on the Broken Isles World Map. Kill Kosumoth to receive Fathom Dweller. Note that you have a chance to get the Hungering Claw instead of the mount. It just so happens that the reward is the mount right now. Check out the video guide by MadSeasonShow for more details!

      Blizzard have announced that they will be significantly changing the Oracle Priest Hero Talent tree, following player feedback and internal testing. It seems the tree's focus will no longer be on replacing Power Infusion.

      Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the Oracle Hero Talent tree.
      One of our goals in sharing these Hero Talent trees so early in the process was to give us adequate time to evaluate and change things as necessary. After reading your feedback, discussing the talent tree, and playtesting the concept internally, we’ve decided to revisit the Oracle tree, especially regarding its focus on replacing Power Infusion.
