Heroes are called to once again experience a dramatically reforged Azeroth and defend it from utter devastation with a smoother and accelerated leveling experience. Two new races—worgen and goblin—join the Alliance and Horde, each bringing their unique edge to Azeroth.

The Cursed Worgen

Behind the formidable Greymane Wall, a terrible curse transformed many of the stalwart citizens of the isolated kingdom of Gilneas into lupine beasts known as worgen. Unable to cure their affliction and besieged by the dreaded Forsaken, these worgen learned to control their ferocity thanks to the help of the night elves.

The worgen now stand ready to unleash the beast within at a moment’s notice as Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior in defense of the Alliance.

A veteran of several wars against the Horde, Genn Greymane, acts as a trusted advisor to the young King Anduin Wrynn of Stormwind. Stalwart and strong, Greymane seeks to secure a lasting peace for the Alliance and remains intent on reclaiming his lost kingdom one day.

Home City: Gilneas

Ruled by Genn Greymane, the winding cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways served its citizens well, even as the city fell victim to the curse of the Worgen. Now, forced to flee their home during the Cataclysm, the Worgen seek to reclaim their beloved city one day.
Racial Mount: Mountain Horse

These wild horses have served Gilneans since before the First War. Known for their strength and ferocious demeanor, the mountain horses are comfortable with their riders—and their proclivities to embrace their feral side.

The Cunning Goblins

The goblins’ craftiness and greed make them masters of mercantilism. Reforging old pacts with their one-time allies, the goblins of the Bilgewater Cartel have been welcomed into the Horde as Death Knight, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. Honing their inherent cunning to a razor’s edge, the goblins hope to use their explosive inventions to rule the world—or at the very least own a profitable percentage of it.

After the abrupt departure of Trade Prince Gallywix at the conclusion of the Fourth War, the goblins of the Bilgewater Cartel were left temporarily leaderless. Now Trade Prince Gazlowe leads the goblins with his clever wits, representing them on the Horde council.

Racial Traits

Home City: Bilgewater Harbor
72M9P0WWCFIX1713987691261.png
Bilgewater Harbor sprang up in record time, and its quintessential goblin construction has fostered an atmosphere of debauchery and disorder, replete with gambling dens, pleasure houses, and other luxuries.
Racial Mount: Trike
YQ6HCB515JMY1713987690475.png
The remarkably aged Jibidiah “No Fingers” Gragglefutz created the sturdy transport trike. Years of product-related mishaps bore fruit in this speedy, durable, and mostly un-explodable vehicle that remains very popular among goblins.

Mark your calendars; Deathwing, The Worldbreaker, bursts from the heart of the Maelstrom, unleashing his rage. Your new journey begins with the pre-expansion patch— the Shattering of Azeroth—on April 30 and continues with the launch of Cataclysm Classic on May 20, 2024, at 3:00 pm PDT worldwide.

Today's Cataclysm hotfixes bring Bloodlust and Heroism fixes, no more double trap drop animations for Hunters, a big fix for healing over time, as well as several holiday improvements.
      May 3 (Source)
      Cataclysm Classic
Fixed a bug causing Hunters to do trap dropping animations twice. Account wide pet collection achievements now correctly grant rewards. Fixed an issue preventing Bloodlust and Heroism from working as intended. Mounting the Violet Proto Drake now grants Master Riding to players who are at least level 80 and have Artisan Riding trained. Heal-over-time and damage-over-time ticks should now behave as intended in Cataclysm when refreshed. Developers’ notes: Previously, refreshing a DoT just before it finished its last tick could cause it to miss out on a tick. That was the correct behavior in Wrath of the Lich King, but not Cataclysm. Holidays The Children’s Week holiday is now extended for one additional week. “Ridin' The Rocketway” can now be completed. Craggle Wobbletop and Blax Bottlerocket now sell Yellow and Green Balloons for Children's Week. Darkmoon Faire will be closed until the launch of Cataclysm, when it will return with the newly updated Darkmoon Faire Island.

      May 1 (Source)

New pets that hunters tame that are lower level than the hunter will not properly level up to match the hunter’s level automatically. Some pet classes may have their pet action bar missing after logging out in a non-rested area. Feral druid weapon normalization is not functioning properly, resulting in druids doing more damage than intended. Some spells are missing from players’ spellbooks, or located on the wrong page, or are appearing when they do not exist in Cataclysm. There is not currently a way to leave a random dungeon finder group via the UI Guild chat is not displayed as expected. Guild reputation is not granted when killing Heroic Dungeons bosses as part of a Guild Group. The Race Change service is currently unavailable to Cataclysm characters. The Wintergrasp quests “Victory in Wintergrasp” and “No Mercy for the Merciless” are not rewarding the amount of honor listed in the quest description. While inspecting another player’s gear, their gear icons do not display within the UI. Issues added:
      Achievements
Petting Zoo does not deliver Nuts’ Acorn to players upon acquiring 100 unique pets. Death Knight
Death runes from the Blood of the North passive are randomly converted to Blood runes. Mage
Ignite deals inconsistent damage, and incorrect damage when used with Combustion. Guilds
Guild Challenges may not increment when their criteria is met. Items
Heirloom item scaling is incorrect. Non-player Characters
Players leaving contested territory may be attacked by guards when they teleport to a new zone. Player versus Player
Bonus Honor gained in the score screen is not consistent with the actual gained Honor. Player Services
Players that changed realms during Burning Crusade and logged into Cataclysm Classic are showing as their old realm and are unable to be whispered. Existing boost tokens from Burning Crusade or Wrath that convert to Cataclysm boosts may not be valid on Goblin, Worgen, or Death Knights. Professions
Profession skill-ups may not be granted by the completion of “yellow” recipes. Smelting does not level Mining above 20, as intended.

Blizzard shared the known issues list for the Cataclysm Classic pre-patch, which is live now. This includes several issues related to pets, guild chat, heirloom items, the UI and more.
      Known Issues (Source)
Cataclysm Classic patch 4.4.0 is now live in this region. What follows is a list of known issues that we’re working on. This list will be updated as issues are resolved or new high-priority issues are discovered.
      4.4.0 Known Issues
      Updated April 30
      Classes
Some pet classes will have their pet action bar missing after relogging. The Pet Action Bar does not have Assist (instead of Aggressive stance). Assist functionality does not appear to function for Warlocks and Hunters. Paladins’ Holy Power unconsumed by Word of Glory are not appearing on the Paladin Holy Power resource bar. Dungeons
Maps are not displayed in some instances, such as Zul’Gurub or End Time. Guilds
Guild chat is not displayed as expected. This is a very high priority issue that will be fixed as soon as possible. Guild reputation is not granted when killing Heroic Dungeons bosses as part of a Guild Group. The Roster tab under guilds has a blank drop down menu that shows the edges of it when selected and nothing else. Items
Some heirloom items unintentionally have spell power. Quests
The Wintergrasp quests “Victory in Wintergrasp” and “No Mercy for the Merciless” are not rewarding the amount of honor listed in the quest description. User Interface
The Objective Tracker does not display all tracked objectives. Tab labels have layout issues. The Nameplate Unit Frame displays with errors and shows the raid marker placement overlay on the unit. The Player vs. Player tab goes behind other tabs instead of to the side, and cannot be closed by pressing Escape. While inspecting another player’s gear, their gear icons do not display within the UI. Text to Speech: ‘Speak for me in Voice chat’ is not currently functional. The Pet ability frame does not move properly with a scaling UI. Groups are missing the “Disenchant” option when looting. As with any update, it is important to make sure that if you use addons that they have been updated.
Please report bugs using the in-game bug reporter.
