War Within Pre-Patch PTR Development Notes: July 8th

Here comes this week's PTR build, as we get plenty more class changes, some of which will be hotfixed in during the course of the week.

The War Within Pre-Expansion PTR has been updated. Please note that some of these changes will be hotfixed into the PTR over the course of the week.


    • Swiftmend healing increased by 15%.
    • Restoration
      • Wild Growth healing increased by 15%.
      • Rejuvenation healing increased by 15%.
      • Regrowth healing increased by 15%.
    • Devastation
      • Eternity Surge damage increased by 15%.
      • Imminent Destruction is no longer the capstone, and has swapped positions with Feed the Flames.
    • Survival
      • Grenade Juggler has been updated – Casting Explosive Shot reduces the cooldown of Wildfire Bomb by 2 seconds.
      • Grenade Juggler and Sulfur-Lined Pockets procs will no longer grant the cooldown reduction effect. Tooltip will be updated in 11.0.2.
      • Bombardier is no longer consumed by Sulfur-Lined Pockets or Grenade Juggler procs.
  • MAGE
    • Arcane
      • High Voltage base chance decreased to 10% (was 20%).
      • High Voltage proc chance increase per failure increased to 10% (was 5%).
      • Aether Attunement damage bonus decreased to 100% on primary target and 50% on secondary targets (was 150% and 100% respectively).
      • Fixed an issue that was allowing procs such as Orb Barrage and Energy Reconstitution to generate Clearcasting.
      • Arcane Blast damage reduced by 5%.
      • Arcane Missiles damage reduced by 5%.
      • Arcane Barrage damage reduced by 10%.
    • Frost
      • Death’s Chill now stacks up to 12 times.
      • Time Anomaly now grants a temporary Water Elemental when it procs Icy Veins.
      • Refreshing Icy Veins no longer breaks Fractured Frost, Slick Ice, Death’s Chill, or Thermal Void for the duration of the refreshed Icy Veins.
      • Glacial Spike damage increased by 10%.
      • Cryopathy and Splintering Ray are no longer a choice node.
      • The location of nodes in Gate 3 have been adjusted.
    • Holy
      • Holy Light’s healing decreased by 20%.
      • Imbued Infusions now reduces the cooldown of Holy Shock by 1 second (was 2 seconds).
    • Enhancement
      • Elemental Blast damage reduced by 25%.
        • This change has been reverted.
    • Restoration
      • Torrent now increases Riptide’s initial healing by 20% and its critical strike rate by 10%.

      Blizzard released a hotfix for Hunter's Trap Launcher in Season of Discovery.
      We’ve just applied a hotfix to address Hunter mobility.
      Trap Launcher will no longer augment Frost Trap. A Trap Launcher version of Frost Trap has only existed in versions of WoW in which mobility and freedom effects were more plentiful. Without them, the safety and agency a 9-15 second ranged Frost Trap grants Hunters is simply too much. We’re making it so that Hunters either need to put themselves at risk in order to place a Frost Trap or have someone engage on them to trigger it.
      Please note: if you currently have the Rune equipped, you must unequip and reequip it, zone, or relog before you can use Frost Trap again.

      Blizzard is reducing the damage modifier of Fortified from 30% to 20% in this week's beta build to compensate for the recent tank nerfs.
      At the same time, the devs will be closely monitoring dungeon and raid testing to see how the tank changes pan out.
      In this week’s beta update, we will be reducing the damage modifier of Fortified from 30% to 20%. Our goal is to reduce the overall damage to the group to offset the fact that tanks will likely need a bit more external healing. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and we will be keeping a close eye on dungeon and raid testing and will further adjust individual abilities as needed.

      Blizzard has added Khaz Algar to the world map in this week’s War Within Beta build!
      The new continent is located between Kalimdor and Pandaria. 

      Khaz Algar consists of Isle of Dorn and 3 underground zones that are connected to each other.

      This week's Beta build comes with a few stability issues that will hopefully be resolved in the next build.
      With today’s new build update, we’re tracking a number of stability issues that we’re expecting for testers to experience until we apply fixes and/or deploy the next build.
      For example:
      Your game may crash when you enter or exit Delves, or sometimes you may get stuck unable to log out and have to force-close the client. There may be situations in which hearthing results in a crash. Heroic Dungeon queues may instantly fail. Please feel free to report any bugs you encounter using the in-game bug reporter, as always.
