With the New World: Aeternum open beta now live, you can experience the revamped lands of Aeternum first-hand. Here's what you can expect to see.

This post marks the official launch of the New World: Aeternum open beta (September 13, 9AM PT). This open beta will be playable until September 16, 9AM PT, so if you are interested in taking a closer look at what this game has to offer, now is your chance.

Regardless of if you plan on playing the open beta or not, we wanted to ensure you had a good idea of what you can expect to see throughout the beta experience.

This includes:

  • Total Customization: Everything from how your character looks, the weapons and tools you use, the mounts that you ride, the emotes you show off, and much, much more is totally up to you - the player. Within the open beta, you'll be able to get a full taste of what this customization really means, and how it affects your gameplay.
  • PvP Options: Although the level cap for the open beta is level 30, you will still have the option to experience a range of PvP modes, including small-scale 3v3 arena battles and influence races, which is an open-world PvP experience where you capture towers and strike down opposing factions.
  • Mounts: If you were a player that initially tried New World out for its initial PC launch, you missed out on experiencing how mounts are implemented throughout the game. Within the open beta, you'll be able to unlock mounts at level 20, and get a better feel of how the mount system will impact your New World Aeternum experience.
  • Amrine Excavation Expedition: Players will be able to experience one of the first expeditions you'll encounter in New World Aeternum - the Amrine Excavation. This will give players a taste of the PvE experience in the game, and their take on "dungeons".
  • Day 1 Rewards: As you explore the land of Aeternum and level up your character during the open beta, you'll be able to receive exclusive rewards, such as:
    • Aeternian Trailblazer: Participate in the open beta
    • Vambrace of the Aeternian Adventurer (Gloves): Reach level 10
    • Jackboots of the Aeternian Adventurer (Footwear): Reach level 15
    • Britches of the Aeternian Adventurer (Legwear): Reach level 20

Eight new artifacts will be introduced soon into the land of Aeternum. Take a closer look at each here.
With the official launch of New World: Aeternum coming on October 15, the team has been introducing more and more new content that will be added to the game - including eight new artifacts. Within New World: Aeternum, artifacts are extremely powerful items that provide one-of-a-kind perks, completely introducing a new variety of builds and playstyles with each.
Players are only able to equip one weapon artifact, one armor artifact, and one accessory artifact at a time, so they will need to choose wisely on which artifacts they want to incorporate within their builds. This decision gets even harder on October 15, as the team brings in the following new artifacts:
Cowl of Power (Light Headwear): Includes the "Desperate Energy" perk, which grants you a 25% increase in damage for 4s if you hit an enemy while your mana is below 50% (10s cooldown). Survivor's Coat (Heavy Chest): Includes the "Survive" perk, which states that if you get hit while below 50% health, you gain 50% stamina, lose all debuffs, and gain a potion surge that instantly refreshes your next used healing potion (120s cooldown). Ghostly Touch (Medium Gloves): Includes the "Ghostly Embrace" perk, which dispels two empower buffs from your empowered opponent when hit, while also granting you 10% empower for 10s (4s cooldown). Grace (Greatsword): Provides two unique speed-boosting perks that will provide the player with additional movement speed. Power Stone (Flail): Includes the new "Heavy Burden" perk, which makes your attacks inflicts 20% weaken for 5s on enemies as long as your health is above 90% (5s cooldown per target). Azoth Conductors (Medium Legwear): Provides the "Magician's Boons" perk, which allows the player to deal 15% more elemental damage while in medium armor weight. Elemental Band (Ring): Includes the "Elemental Affinity" perk, stating that when you hit a target with an elemental attack (not attunement or DoT), you gain a 4% empower for 6s. There is a 10s cooldown per elemental damage type, with a max stack of 1 per elemental damage type. Trsna (Warhammer): Introduces the new "Consume" perk, which provides an additional 25% lifesteal to the player when attacking knocked down enemies. As you can see from the list, these artifacts introduce completely new mechanics and playstyles to the game, keeping competitive players on their toes.
To get a closer look at each of these artifacts, and where you can unlock them starting on October 15th, view the video below.
