Multistrike on simcraft for discipline

Recommended Posts

Obviously we can't simulate all fights with simcraft, unless maybe one simulates a very specific setup, but I noticed if one used in the "rotation" only one spell, e.g. flash heal or power word: shield he may get some interesting results.

e.g. Spamming only Flash Heal:mnIkN1r.png

Spamming only Power Word: Shield:

Notice how huge Multistrike is. Haste is negative for some reason. (??)

Spamming only Clarity of Will:

Any comments?

The stats were:

# gear_stamina=2834

# gear_intellect=2049

# gear_spell_power=1099

# gear_crit_rating=635

# gear_haste_rating=749

# gear_mastery_rating=720

# gear_armor=596

# gear_multistrike_rating=503

# gear_versatility_rating=225

# gear_speed_rating=57

edit: PS. It seems to be designed to have intellect/spell power so huge that ilevel is indeed something that can /faceroll decisions. It seems to be in line with Blizzard's statements. In fact, they said if they noticed some classes getting higher benefit from secondaries than ilevel, they will nerf the secondaries/buf the primaries.

e.g. a blatant example is a weapon. If it's only 5 ilevels higher, the spell power and intellect is such a huge contribution, it doesn't matter the new one has 0 mastery.

Need to be careful about simming disc heals as this is a relatively new module in simc and might contain bugs.

Better to go through a short "fight" log to see if anything is fishy there. If yes, then load up the simc project run debugger and see what's up.

No surprises there. When most of your spells are pure absorbs, crit loses a lot of its value and only scales 5% better for discipline than multistrike.

But then keep in mind, when buffed, without any stats, you have 10% crit and 5% multistrike. That means a 1% increase to your healing with multistrike(110 rating) is a 20% increase of your current percentage value. For crit you gain 1.05% for 110 rating, which is a 10.5% increase to your current percentage of crit.

Since the two scale well with each other in that multistrikes can crit, you ideally want to balance them closely and as you get more of one the other will pull ahead.

For normal heals critical strike scales with your mastery, making your crits bigger than your multistrike with equivalent values. For normal heals your critical strike modifier is essentially (1+c(1+m)) and for multistrike it's (1+ms*0.6).

Multistrike being better than spell power or mastery is however something I doubt given those gear values..

It's only about the theoretical scenario of only spamming power word: shield and nothing else (ironically, it might be what one might have been doing in siege of orgrimmar in 6.0 or what one might be still doing for a few seconds in fights now).

It might be possible and I theorize conceptually that this is because if you multistrike with a power word: shield you get a huge boost to its value while crit might have a lower chance to do that per rating point or mastery might be less potent.

Even for pure PWS spam it's suspect. The multistrike hook is the exact same as the crit hook except crit gets a 5% increase due to attunement. There's no magical hook for multistrike and PWS that would make it worth more than a point of spell power.

And it's absolutely illogical that a spell with no cooldown suffers from getting haste, especially when casting that spell gives you a 40% increase to haste.

Maybe that's why.

Haste scales incredibly well for PWS spam since 100 stat points give you 1.4% haste. That's obviously a HPS increase. That and the multistrike weight if anything suggests the simcraft module has some bugs.
