Frost Mage DPS Advice needed

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is my first post here and I just wanted some advice about my mage's build. I play Frost mage and while I can do decent DPS, it seems like I am working much harder to get the numbers that other people can face roll to.

I can do 20-21k DPS with the following gear and spec.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/arthas/Movingfridge/simple

I have a few questions about my rotation and just in general about what I am doing and what I should be doing.

So as you can see from the profile I am running pretty much the same spec with dual specialization depending on what fight we do. For more mobile fights I like to run Thermal void because tanks usually aren't very considerate of my Prismatic Crystal and with fights that don't require too much moving I use Prismatic Crystal.

First, are my specs optimal? I see some people running Ice Nova and I was wondering what that would synergize more with PC or Thermal Void?

Second, I usually pop everything in my opener but over the fight these things come off of cooldown at different times. Do I hold my cooldowns to pop at once again or do I do them as they come off cooldown?

I apologize in advance if any of these questions seem stupid, I am just trying to learn the class to perform the best I can as a mage. Thanks in advance for any help.

Comment removed due to the huge ammount of misinformation. I'm on my way to home from a vacation. I'll catch up with everything this week.

Additionally, without combatlogs, analyzing is really hard. Please give us one, according to the pinned topic.

You can always ask ur tanks to wait a few seconds b4 moving... In most encounters, moving the bosses is not really necessary, especially on the pull.

Ice Nova and FB are quite equal. IN more bursty, FB more consistent.

Delay Frozen Orb for PC, use the rest on CD.
