Warlords Raid Progression

For the first portion of the 17th tier of raid instances, Blizzard released Highmaul on December 2 and 9 on the flexible Normal/Heroic and 20-man Mythic difficulties, respectively. A shorter raid, clocking in at only seven encounters (separated by limited trash, at that), Highmaul has been enjoyed by a substantial number of players already in its first few weeks despite the holiday season.

Worldwide, the first Mythic Imperator Mar'gok kill went to Paragon, who managed the feat in the first week that Mythic Highmaul was available. US first went to the Oceanic guild Ascension the following week, edging out Blood Legion and Icy Veins partner guild Midwinter (who finished 4th in the US and 20th worldwide).

Paragon put together an excellent video of their Mythic Imperator Mar'gok kill:

As an instance, Highmaul has broadly been very positive. The encounters showcase an interesting blend of mechanics, and are distinct and varied in their overall difficulty. Certain aspects of the raid, such as the need to manually assign responsibility for a mechanic on almost every fight, have pros and cons - they allow guilds to choose who will be handling personal responsibility mechanics, such as triggering The Butcher's Cleave or who uses flamethrowers on Brackenspore - but add an administrative element to these fights that introduces additional complexity (as evidenced by overall progression - see below).

Wondering where you stand? Of guilds that have done raiding content so far in Warlords of Draenor at the time of writing:

- Only 38.5% of guilds have downed a boss other than Kargath Bladefist on Heroic.

- Just 15.26% of guilds have killed Imperator Mar'gok on Heroic for the achievement_boss_highmaul_king.jpgAhead of the Curve: Imperator's Fall achievement.

- Only 5.36% of guilds have a Mythic kill other than Kargath, and less than 1,000 total guilds have gone further than Mythic Twin Ogron - with a scant 70 having killed Imperator on Mythic.

My guild is part of the 60% or so who hasn't done past Kargath on heroic.

The flexibility of Normal/Heroic difficulty and the Christmas season have made it hard for us to get our main raiders in consistently for Heroic, so we've been doing Normals to help gear people up.

The new War Within Allied Races was added to the Alpha today and we already have a full look at not only all their customization options, but their dances as well, courtesy of MrGM! You can check out the Earthen's racial abilities here if you missed them earlier.
Let's start with the more dynamic feature, with both male and female dances:
And then there's big amount of customization options, as well as a size comparison with regular dwarves:

So, are we liking the new Allied Race overall? More than actual dwarves?

Here's a really cool possibility for the War Within, as a very subtle and mildly mysterious comment from Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, may be hinting at our Warband characters getting a lot more involved in our travels!
First spotted by UlthansWrath, Longdale came up to Taliesin & Evitel at the recent London War Within Alpha press event and had a short chat about the Warband screen, when she casually said "wouldn't it be cool if those were the characters you took as your followers in your Follower Dungeons?" After the obvious confirmation from Taliesin and Evitel that, yes, yes it would be cool, she just said "hm" and that was the end of the conversation.
Obviously this isn't any sort of official confirmation, but considering this is a really awesome idea, it seems likely Blizzard are at the very least discussing it, if not already working on it.

The Warband system is already great, and this would add a lot to it for players that choose to go solo into dungeons, as it would give them even more motivation to get some great characters in their Warband - even if it was just a cosmetic option.
So, what do you think, will we be seeing this feature when the War Within launches?
