Shadow survivability

4 posts in this topic

Hi guys,

I hope this isn't covered elsewhere on the site. I am currently level 92 and I am having a hard time surviving encounters with more than 2 regular mobs or when facing some of the tougher quest mobs and rare elites. Currently I can only use shadow when I am only facing one or two mobs at a time. Otherwise I use disc.

How can I use shadow on these tougher encounters?

Thanks

If you don't use it, I would recommend using Psychic Horror on the second mob or to fear the boss. Using as many orbs as you can will allow you to keep it pinned for a max of 6 secs, and during this time you can cast at it and it will not break the fear. Other than that, hotkey your shield and use it on cd, and don't be afraid to use Desperate Prayer (if you chose this tier 1 talent).

  1. Bring a guildie with you who can hold aggro. I know this won't always be an option, but it's the single best thing you can do to improve your survivability.
  2. Do your damnedest to only pull one mob at a time.
  3. Bring a bodyguard (i.e. a follower assigned to your barracks). If you don't have a follower tank, bring one with nice AoEs to help when you pull a second mob.
  4. Power Word: Shield yourself pre-pull, and renew it on cooldown.
  5. Pile your DoTs on the secondary target. (I usually replace mind spike in my rotation with applying DoTs on non-primary targets.)
  6. Carry Healing Tonics to help you last a little bit longer - they're like lock cookies, but better.
  7. Use crowd control (I like Void Tendrils) to help you keep distance from melee.
  8. Have dispersion ready for when things go sour.

And, ultimately, understand that you're just a little bit squishier than most. I couldn't solo Direfang Alphas until I was 650 or so.

Blooded is an established  social Mythic guild, with a friendly and dedicated team.
Blooded has been raiding as a team since the early history of the guild, we focus on progression but make sure we also have room for good fun and friendly bantering. Though the team over the years has seen some changes, it has a good and solid core of players that provides a solid foundation to build on.
Everyone in the guild is equally respected, regardless of rank. No one is more important and we don't like drama. Bad attitude in /g or /ra is not tolerated.
Bad jokes is however a completely different matter.
Our current progression is 4/9 ToS Mythic, before that we did 7/7 M EN, 2/3 M ToV, and 7/10 M NH.
We are now looking for like minded players, willing to progress at a good pace with our team.
      Requirements for ToS:
You need to have some ToS experience, but no need for Mythic experience.  Your gear needs to match your experience (min ilvl 925) Your gear has all the best gems/enchants. You're available for 75% of all raids. You feel ready and have the patience to deal with progression. You keep on top of news about your class/spec, and upcoming fights. Spots are open for:
1 solid melee DPS (Rogue/warrior/DH/Ret) 1 Solid Ranged DPS (Warlock/Frost mage/SP) Other classes/specs are still considered if the requirements are fulfilled. (No Tanks/Healers)
      Raid times are:
Thursday: 20:00 - 23:00 Sunday: 20:00 - 23:00 Tuesday: 20:00 - 23:00 Alt run on Wednesdays. We currently don't do Heroic on the official raid days. Trial information:
We run a trial for 6 raids We use personal loot, unwanted/unneeded loot is gathered and distributed using RClootcouncil. Invites start at 19:45 Bring plenty food, pots, flasks, runes and be repaired. We use Teamspeak during raids.   If you're looking for a friendly guild with good raid focus, this may be the place for you. As long as you also have time for memes.
If you're interested add me for a chat.

      About us:
Converge has been around since WoW Vanilla and has been raiding together since Molten Core; we used to be a four day raiding guild but over the years we had to adjust our playtime and priorities and are now a two day raiding guild. We had to cut our total hours spent playing WoW but we still remain just as competitive and result oriented.

      Mandatory reading.
Basics: be ilvl 900+; 52+ points in MS Artifact Weapon.
Raiding 101: be able to execute/avoid fight mechanics; communicate in English and use a microphone.
We raid twice a week, a total of 6 hours; attendance of 90% is mandatory. We require you to function at 100% from the second the raid starts all the way to its end; if you cannot commit to a raiding schedule and be online on time this is not a guild for you.

      Raid Times: 8:00 PM – 11:00 AM Eastern Time – Monday/Tuesday.

Recruitment: Ranged DPS /  Melee DPS / Heals

      1. can i do comparable ( to subtlety ) damage as assasination rogue? what is difference in %?
      2. shadowcraft shows me that subterfuge is 25k dps more than nightstalker, is it real?
      3. simcraft shows me, that my dps now as assasination is 25-30k less than subtlety ( 55 and 59 artifact level ), will it be the same gap when i get 59 assa artifact, or subtlety damage is always higher?

Hello! My priest https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/argent-dawn/lilein has amassed quite the collection of trinkets and I am not sure which ones to pick.
      I have:
925 Naraxas' Spiked Tongue with socket
910 int/haste stat stick with speed
      915 Tarnished Sentinel Medallion
      915 Terror From Below
915 Charm of the Rising Tide
Which ones are best? I usually look at the guides for this kind of thing but strangely the spriest guide lacks trinket recommendations. :(

      Quick info:
      Guild Name: The Dark Swarm
      Faction: Alliance
      Realm: Azuremyst/Staghelm connected Realms- US
      Realm Type: Normal (PvE)
      Realm Timezone: CST
      Battlegroup: Shadowburn
Openings: We are accepting all classes/races/levels/playstyles.

The Dark Swarm {US Azuremyst/Staghelm connected PvE Realms} is looking for laid-back adults (18 and up) that want to have fun and be a part of a friendly, relaxed guild- perfect for people with the duties of full time jobs and floating schedules.

We are always looking to bolster our roster! Re-rolls are welcome, or if thinking about transferring, feel free to roll a level 1 to contact us with any questions.
Some things The Dark Swarm is:
►A guild who has been around since BC.
►A place for fun, mature people. You must be 18+ to join. Sense of humor strongly recommended ☺
►A guild interested in doing all kinds of content. Some of us like to PvP, others like to run heroics, mythic+, and raids. Some like to level characters and professions, some love to collect things and camp rares. We welcome all styles of gameplay.
Some things The Dark Swarm is not:
►A raiding guild. If you are looking to raid on a team regularly, we are not for you. We have no interest in organizing progression raids for current content any longer. Any raiding outside of older content is done through PuGs/ LFG.
►A leveling guild. We accept characters of all levels, but we are looking for people who want to make us their permanent home, not leave once capped and geared.
►A hardcore PvP guild. Some of us do Arenas and aim to start Rated Battlegrounds, but if you want a guild who is strictly PvP oriented, we might not be a fit for your interests.
The Dark Swarm is interested in:
►Creating a tight- knit family of players who like to have a good time.
►Guild events. We have many events in the works, with more being added.
►Achievements. We enjoy getting groups together for achievements including metas for mounts, and guild achievements.
►Past content; we like to go back into some older content for fun from time to time as well. Examples are guild OS3D to get people Drakes, or BC raids for Transmog gear.
►Fun; most importantly, continue to be a relaxed environment to hang out in and meet fun people. Play when you want, the way you want.
