Best Gems for Restoration Shamans
Because of the different stat values, as discussed in our stats page, the value of each gem varies, depending on the stats they provide.
Red Gems are usually the most valuable as they grant a lot of Spell Power,
but
Blue Gems (Mp5) and
Yellow Gems (Haste) are also very strong, and it is
usually worth taking any socket bonuses available.
Phase 2 introduces the Stormjewels epic gems as a small drop chance
from the daily Fishing quest. You can use one of these to gain a minor
stat bonus over regular gems, but they are likely to be expensive. If you want
to use one, we recommend a Runed Stormjewel.
Wrath Restoration Shaman Meta Gem
Insightful Earthsiege Diamond is the best overall
Meta Gem for
Restoration Shamans, granting a lot of Mana over time and benefiting from your
constant casting rotation.
Wrath Restoration Shaman Red Gem Sockets
The Runed Scarlet Ruby is the main gem that you should be putting into
Red Gem slots on your gear. This is because it offers a similar level of
throughput increase as the
Reckless Monarch Topaz, but without the Mana
pressure of having extra Haste.
Wrath Restoration Shaman Blue Gem Sockets
Royal Twilight Opal is the best
Blue Gem and should be used to unlock
any
Blue Socket bonuses.
Wrath Restoration Shaman Yellow Gem Sockets
Reckless Monarch Topaz is the best
Yellow Gem and should be used
to unlock
Yellow Sockets with good bonuses. Once Mana is no longer an
issue,
Quick Autumn's Glow can provide even more Haste for higher throughput
potential.
Wrath Classic Restoration Shaman Complete Consumable List
Because of their expensive spells, Shamans can be quite Mana-hungry. You can prolong your Mana bar by using consumables, which is recommended when min-maxing or progressing new bosses.
Wrath Classic Restoration Shaman Flasks
Flask of the Frost Wyrm is the recommended flask for Restoration Shamans,
and is much stronger than using double elixirs, while potentially being much
cheaper for progress on hard bosses because it does not get removed on death.
Wrath Classic Restoration Shaman Elixirs
Spellpower Elixir is the best Battle Elixir and
Elixir of Mighty Thoughts
or
Elixir of Mighty Mageblood are the best Guardian Elixirs.
Wrath Classic Restoration Shaman Food Buff
Fish Feast,
Tender Shoveltusk Steak, and
Firecracker Salmon
all grant 46 Spell Power, and are the best food buffs available.
Wrath Classic Restoration Shaman Potions
Potion of Speed is the best throughput potion during a fight if you do
not need Mana, although you can also try pre-potting with
Potion of Wild Magic
to boost your
Fire Elemental Totem as much as possible if you are min-maxing
in a speed run or DPS parsing as Restoration.
If Mana is an issue, then use Runic Mana Potion or
Potion of Nightmares.
Crazy Alchemist's Potion deserves a special mention as it is likely to be
much cheaper while being superior to the Runic Mana Potion, but can only be used
by Alchemy-trained players.
