Best in Slot Fighter Gear

The gear below highlights some of the best gear currently available for Fighters in Ashes of Creation. In a perfect world, you will be able to enchant each of these pieces with Journeyman Enchanting Scrolls, leading to increased stats across the board. The more you enchant a specific piece, the more expensive it gets to upgrade it, and the more difficult it gets to succesfully enchant the item. However, it is very expensive to acquire enchnanting scrolls, and this should not be your primary focus. Instead, focus on gathering the pieces below in as high quality as possible, then worry about enchanting later on (if you ahve the gold to support it).

Please note: If you do plan to eventually enchant your gear, it's best practice to get each item to at least +8. Anything after that will lead to an increased amount of risk, as there will be a slight chance that your gear could even get destroyed, so be careful!

It is overall best practice to try to stick with your overall Physical Power Rating to be around 200-210 in total due to the tremendous amount of diminish returns that starts to kick in around that number. With that being said, the gear selected below provides some of the best pieces to enahnce overall Physical Power Rating, but also a few other pieces mixed in to capitalize in other important stats for Fighters, such as Health, Mitigation, Armor, and a few others.

Depending on your playstyle, you may want to swap out some of these pieces. For example, if you prefer jumping into fights quickly, you may want to consider items that provide more health, rather than physical power rating. Additionally, as you gain higher quality pieces of gear, you may hit that threshold of 200-210 Physical Power Rating quickly, so keep that in mind as well as you begin to gather these pieces for your Fighter!

Reminder: Some of these options listed above are very, very expensive, and possibly even impossible to acquire based on the overall Node progression on your server as you read this. For example, crafting a Sorrow's Edge is not an easy task, and will cost you a lot of high-quality resources and gold. It's important to note that as the quality of the gear increases, so do the stats, however, the overall cost of legendary materials may not be worth the investment based on the end result. In some cases, it may be easier to settle with Uncommon or Rare quality pieces as long as you pick-up the primary stats for your build (which in this case will be Strength and/or Physical Power Rating).

We recommend that you prioritize getting each of these pieces of gear at Uncommon or Rare quality at first to pick up a large burst of initial power and survivability, and then focus on getting them in higher quality once you have your initial Figher build set up.

Additionally, for each item listed above, there are cheaper alternatives you can use as you gather more gold (or wait for certain Nodes to progress). For example, instead of a Legendary Sorrow's Edge Greatsword, you may want to use a Flayer's Fleshripper instead, which provides a MAJOR amount of physical power rating, and only requires you to be level 10. It's recommended to use this Flayers Fleshripper Greatsword early on, as you likely won't be close to that 200-210 Physical Power Rating as you still don't have many of these Best-in-Slot pieces.

Another common alternative for the gear listed above is using the Blackfeather Tunic or Bearslayer Skin instead of the Dustpaw Warhide. As you continue to progress and level your Fighter, you will quickly learn what pieces of equipment works best with your playstyle, and you can adjust your priorities based on your total Physical Power Rating. If you are close to that 200-210 Physical Power Rating mark, then consider focusing moreso on gear that will provide more Physical Power Penetration, Armor, Constituion, Max Health, or Mitigation.

Stat Priority

When selecting gear, it's important to ensure you understand the most important stats to priortize as a Fighter. Each piece of gear in this game provides a unique buff to a certain amount of stats. There’s six attribute stats in the game, and each point added to this main attribute will boost additional stats you have that are known as "Waterfall" stats. For example, Strength is the most important stat for Fighters, which provides a boost in Physical Power Rating, Physical Accuracy Rating, and Physical Penetration rating.

When choosing your gear, you should prioritize these attribute stats in the following order:

  1. Strength – Each point gives you 3 Physical Power Rating, 2 Physical Critical Power Rating, 2 Physical Accuracy Rating, 1 Physical Block Mitigation Rating, and 1 Physical Disable Duration. This is your top priority.
  2. Dexterity – Each point gives you 2 Physical Critical Chance Rating, 2 Physical Attack Speed Rating, 2 Physical Penetration Rating, 2 Physical Evasion Rating, and 1 Physical Disable Accuracy. When you find gear that has both Strength and Dexterity, it's worth investing in.
  3. Constitution – Each point gives you 1 Max Health, 2 Armor, 2 Physical Critical Avoidance Rating, 1 Physical Critical Mitigation Rating, 1 Physical Disable Evasion Rating, and 1 Physical Disable Reduction Rating. This is extremely helpful for overall survivability in both PvE and PvP content.
  4. Mentality – Each point gives you 1 Max Mana, 2 Magic Resist, 2 Magical Critical Avoidance Rating, 1 Magical Critical Mitigation Rating, 1 Magical Disable Evasion Rating, and 1 Magical Disable reduction Rating. Not really needed for Mana support, as you will have Blood Fusion to support your Mana usage, but still useful for additional resistances.
  5. Wisdom – Each point gives you 2 Magical Critical Chance Rating, 2 Magical Casting Speed Rating, 2 Magic Evasion Rating, 2 Magical Penetration Rating, 2 Magical Evasion Rating, and 1 Magical Disable Accuracy. This stat is not as critical as the others, but does support overall survivability slightly.
  6. Intelligence – Each point gives you 3 Magical Power Rating, 2 Magical Critical Power Rating, 2 Magical Accuracy Rating, 1 Magical Block Mitigation Rating, and 1 Magical Disable Duration Rating. This is your least important stat as a Fighter.

Additional Gear Advice

One of the great things about Ashes of Creation is the wide variety of items and gear. There are multiple sets and unique bonuses across many, many pieces of gear, opening players up to build unique builds based on their preferred playstyle. The gear listed above is considered some of the most powerful gear in the game, but you may personally prefer other items based on how you prefer to play your Fighter, which is perfectly fine.

One of the most important things to keep in mind though, regardless of what gear you choose, is that you should prioritize your Artisan skills and communicate with your friends as much as possible. By maxing out your Artisan skills, you can increase the quality of your gear through crafting, leading to more and more stats. To further explain the importance of increased quality across your gear, hover over the items in the list below and compare and contrast the stats in each. As you move down the list, the quality of the item will increase, and so will the stats.

In order to maximize your build, you will need to maximize your Artisan skills and gather Legendary materials to craft the most powerful gear available in the game.
