Dustin Browder took the stage at PAX East 2015 to talk about changes that are coming to Heroes of the Storm, including reaffirming Sylvanas Windrunner as the next Hero to enter the Nexus.

A fairly complete recap of the panel is available over on the Heroes website, but the high notes were as follows:

1. Hero balance is an ongoing metric at both the amateur and competitive levels, with minor outliers being looked at (Lost Vikings being of note as the only Hero appearing to outperform expectations at multiple levels of play).

2. The new Tomb of the Spider Queen map, which is noticeably smaller/narrower than previous maps, will be added to the game next.

3. Sylvanas Windrunner is the next Hero to be released, and her abilities include a powerful ultimate that can silence opponents (preventing them from casting spells).

Sylvanas announcement video.

4. Progression updates! Players who reach Account Level 10 will receive a free 7-day Stimpack to continue levelling, Heroes can now level up to individual levels as high as 20, and accounts at Account Level 30 or above no longer experience talent gating.

Lastly, Blizzard outlined their plans for Heroes of the Dorm, a university Heroes league that will award prizes to cover tuition for students in the US and Canada.

Full information on Heroes of the Dorm, including the fantasy bracket competition, will be unveiled as further details are revealed!

The hero balance issue is the real deal in this game as we haven't seen a single MOBA, or even a single game!, being balanced but after the blog where they said unbalances are good, it changed my point of view.

but still it's a little frustrating that you'll get shouted at if you pick Abathur or Murky in ranked play despite the fact that playing with these heroes are very fun. And it is weird because in Quick Matches as abathur, I get very good results, sometimes more damage than other teammates, always the highest siege damage, unless sgt. hammer was in the team. But still this hero is always known as "Useless" and ppl keep saying "Oh God another 4v5 game". Maybe because some ppl troll with this hero and go afk just to get the xp.

Some heroes just require more skill to play. Abathur specifically because you need to know all of the other characters abilities to accurately use your own. A great abathur can wreck face, however, most abathurs just aren't up to snuff :D

True, but we still don't see any pros play abathur in big tournaments, abathur is always in their tier 4 or 5 of power rankings.

I want to see all heroes in this game playable at any level, I don't want to be limited to quick match if I want to have fun playing Abathur for example.

And this could happen by adding some passive strength to heroes from the same background or even some random combos, for example one spell from one of the heroes could get more powerful if used on another hero, let's say both from Starcraft. For instance Abathur's carapace could be more powerful on Kerrigan.

This way you can build a lot of combos with heroes and these combos can do magic in Team League.

But the downside is even balancing these combos is more complicated than the hero itself tongue.png

But more fun...
