Patch 6.2 Pet Battle Preview

Recommended Posts

New pet battle content is coming to World of Warcraft in Patch 6.2, and Blizzard has posted an overview of the new pets, quests, and more. The complete post is included here, along with some additional details.

Blizzard's original post is as follows:

As we continue to explore new territory in Draenor, it should come as no surprise that new battle pets and new battle pet rewards will be found. Thus far, Draenor has contained a great deal of diversity for pet battlers, and Patch 6.2 will be no different. Let’s take a look at some of what’s in store for your collection.

Please note: Spoilers are ahead! If you want to discover the new battle pets and rewards for yourself, don’t read any further!

Tanaan Stop Action

First and foremost, Tanaan Jungle is where the action can be found on all fronts. You will find battle pets of all types dotting the landscape, four of which are new and just waiting to be caught for the first time:

  • Bloodbeak
  • Cerulean Moth
  • Violet Firefly
  • Fen Crab

Keep an eye out for the new quest “A Fel Puppy of My Own”, through which you can acquire the delightful new Fel Pup.

Just delightful.

But the jungle doesn’t only provide garden-variety battle pets. If you look carefully, you’ll find that there are 15 fel-corrupted legendary pets scattered throughout Tanaan. Your Pet Battle Master in your garrison will have some new information for you to get started. You can only defeat any of these legendaries once per day, and when you do, you’ll receive a container of Fel-Touched Pet Supplies, which will include:

  • Gold
  • Pet Charms
  • Pet Bandages

And has a small chance to include:

  • A Fel-Touched Battle-Training Stone (single use, grants +5 pet levels)
  • One of these rare pets:
    • Periwinkle Calf
    • Zangar Spore
    • Seaborne Spore
    • Nightmare Bell

You can ring my Nightmare Bell. Ring my Bell.

We’ve also got a new achievement for you when you defeat all 15 legendary opponents in Tanaan Jungle.

You’re Too Charming

Patch 6.2 is going to introduce a new vendor to your level 3 Garrison Menagerie. Tiffy Trapspring and Giada Goldleash have been attracted to your impressive stash of Pet Charms, and want to take them off your hands in exchange for the following pets:

  • Dusty Sporewing
  • Bloodthorn Hatchling
  • Glowing Sporebat
  • Lost Netherpup

And the following toys:

  • Magic Pet Mirror
  • Indestructible Bone
  • Spirit Wand

And the Hunt Continues

A number of new battle pets coming to World of Warcraft with patch 6.2 can be found all over the worlds. Back home in Azeroth, adventurers will cheer when they find the non-combative Nethaera’s Light glowing in Dalaran. Meanwhile, two new fishing pets are turning up at the Darkmoon Faire. One is called Blorp (also a non-combat pet), and the other is the wondrous Ghostshell Crab.

Their shells are made of ghosts.

Even more pets have found their way to the fields of battle on Draenor. Look carefully, and you may find:

  • Crimsonwing Moth -- A rare spawn in Talador with many spawn points, and only one ever appearing in the zone at a time.
  • Sapphire Firefly – A rare spawn in Spires of Arak who also has many spawn points and appears only once at a time.
  • Cinder Pup – Available from a new Garrison mission in patch 6.2.
  • Corrupted Nest Guardian – Dropped by Shadow Lord Iskar in the new Hellfire Citadel raid.

Get a first look at all of the above by testing Patch 6.2 with us on the PTR. Please note that availability to test some PTR content may be limited to certain time frames. Learn more about the upcoming Patch 6.2 and how to participate on the PTR in our 6.2 PTR Patch Notes.

Here's an easy way to skip from Kologarn to General Vezzax in Ulduar as a Demon Hunter, thanks to gliding.
After defeating Kologarn, Demon Hunters can easily skip from "The Shattered Walkway" area to "The Descent into Madness" in Ulduar, where General Vezzax is located.
Cobblenation has shared the skip, and we've reached out to the OP to clarify, and you need to kill are Flame Leviathan, XT, Kologarn, and General Vezzsx to engage Yogg-Saron, which makes farming of Mimiron’s Head easier than ever!

If you have a ton of alts, you will definitely appreciate a macro that removes all quests from your quest log with the single click of a button.
Scholle_0 created a macro that easily removes all quests from your quest log! It's handy if you have many alts and want to have an empty quest log before heading into the Shadowlands.
Type /m in the chat window, create a new macro and paste the following code.
/run for i=1,C_QuestLog.GetNumQuestLogEntries() do C_QuestLog.SetSelectedQuest(C_QuestLog.GetInfo(i).questID); C_QuestLog.SetAbandonQuest(); C_QuestLog.AbandonQuest() end; Save the macro, press the button, and voila!
The author also created an addon called Abandon All Quests if you don't want to use any macros!

The pre-patch event ends 1 hour before Shadowlands goes live and this is your last chance to get the 34-slot bag, the pet, or  Accursed Keepsake before they get removed from the game permanently.
You don't need to buy Shadowlands to participate in the event! The only requirement is having a max-level character.  You can find a list of maps with all the rares here.
Papa's Mint Condition Bag is a 34-slot bag that drops from Bronjahm, an Elite in Icecrown that you can find at 71,38. He's up only once every 200 minutes, and the drop chance is small, so it will take a while before you get your bag. Check out this site to see when Bronjahm spawns next. Putrid Geist is a battle pet that you can purchase for 20 Argent Commendations, a currency from daily quests in Icecrown. Catch-up gear of Item Level 100, on par with Normal difficulty Ny'alotha, can be purchased for 15 Argent Commendations, each from quartermasters in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. If you want to purchase the whole set, you will need to gather 135 Argent Commendations. Icecrown Elites drop Item Level 110 gear, and Blizzard reduced the timer to 10 minutes. Accursed Keepsake is an upgraded Haunted Memento that has a small chance to drop from any Icecrown Elite. It spawns a ghost that follows you when you have the item in your inventory. Both items interact with each other. For more details, check out our pre-patch event guide!

Blizzard has hotfixed a debuff to the game that prevents you from gaining an early advantage in the Maw.
Eye of the Jailer has been hotfixed into the game recently, and the debuff decreases Stygia and Ve'nari Reputation gains by 100%. It's probably been implemented to prevent players from gaining an unfair advantage in the Shadowlands endgame zone, similar to how Mythic dungeons, Torghast, and the first weekly Renown quest will only become available after reset in each region.
Ve'nari offers two weekly quests that reward 425 Stygia and reputation, and you won't be able to gain Stygia or reputation with her until after the reset.

We have a great diagram of "A soul's journey through the Shadowlands by Steinerinoo, which very clearly shows how the machine of death was working before the Jailer(?) messed things up. We can track the various types of souls and the zones and Covenants they go to, what happens to then if they are redeemed or if they are not, how the wild gods are treated and more.
      A few important notes:
There are actually infinite realms in the Shadowlands, the ones we see are merely the most prominent and relevant to the story at hand. The Arbiter's ability to directly throw a soul into the Maw is unclear. Mostly only those that fail at redemption go to the Maw, but there have been very, very few exceptions where he threw them directly there.
Anyone else REALLY want to click on "Buddy"?
