Well, all good things must come to an end. In this case we are actually traded a good thing, for a great one! The 2.4 PTR is ending on Monday, and this will prep Blizzard for an extremely likely patch launch of 2.4 on Tuesday's maintenance.

We already have confirmation that Patch 2.4 is definitely coming prior to the start of Season 5 on Friday. With the PTR coming down on Monday, that leaves a very small window of time in which Patch 2.4 can be deployed. The all but guaranteed day is Tuesday, which is the historical patch deployment date.

With the huge list of changes coming in the new Patch, there are a few clarifications coming from the Diablo Team, as well and some communication about their philosophy on why Patch dates are never set in stone.

Head below for the full round up!

PTR End

In preparation for the launch of Patch 2.4.0, the Patch 2.4.0 PTR servers will be brought offline on Monday, January 11 at 5:00 p.m. PST. At that time, players will no longer be able to log into the PTR client, and PTR accounts (including character information) will be reset.

We've marked our PTR forums as read-only as part of our preparations. We will be removing access to the PTR forums when the PTR goes offline, so please take some time to archive any of your posts or information you may want to reference later.
We'd like to thank everyone who has participated in the Patch 2.4.0 PTR. You've done an incredible job of testing and providing feedback, and we greatly appreciate all your efforts!

We look forward to releasing Patch 2.4.0 to the public shortly and look forward to seeing you in Season 5! (Source)

Patch Date Philosophy

We have a philosophy of launching patches between Season transitions, and not while a Season is currently active. This leaves a window of possible patch dates; sometime between Season 4 ending and Season 5 beginning. We also, typically, deploy patches on Tuesdays (for North America). However, deployment dates can suddenly shift, including down to the last minute. Technology can be a fickle mistress, and unforeseen circumstances can arise.

This is why we don't provide firm patch release dates. However, we know a lot of players want to plan their time around new content or the start of the new Season. Announcing a more firm Season date is a way to meet in the middle.  (Source)

Finalization of Kanai's Cube Icon

This is, indeed, the latest iteration of this feature. After some player feedback that our original version of this feature was difficult to read (and difficult to tell the difference between the cubed or not cubed indicators), our artists agreed and we opted for the clearer and more simplified version you see in Hebalon's screenshot above.  (Source)

As some expected, Diablo 3 will be coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. There was a bit of a leak today, as Forbes published an article that was scheduled for release tomorrow and then quickly took it down, but Kotaku caught the leak.
Unfortunately this is probably one of the "several Diablo projects" Nevalistis mentioned in a teasing tweet a while ago, so it remains to be seen what else exactly we have to look forward to in the franchise and if there will be any significant new announcements at BlizzCon.
Meanwhile, the Switch edition, already released under the Eternal Collection for other platforms, will cost $59,99 and include all current content, meaning Reaper of Souls, Rise of the Necromancer and all other patches released so far, as well as a (presumably exclusive) armor set that looks like Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda. As appropriate for the Switch, the game will also have many co-op options, from 4 players playing on the same console, to each player playing on a separate Switch but without needing to be online, and then of course, a regular online mode.
Also, this is the first Blizzard game in 15 years to arrive on a Nintendo platform (with the last one being the "Blizzard's Classic Arcade" pack for the Gameboy Advance, including Rock 'n' Roll Racing, Blackthorne and Lost Vikings).
We'll get the official announcement tomorrow (presumably) and hopefully we'll get to see the Gangondorf armor look then.

Thanks to MMOChampion for catching the news.
A new platform for the franchise, coming later this year with exclusive transmog.

Blizzard confirmed they're working on multiple new Diablo projects and they will share more details later this year (probably at BlizzCon).
In the latest video about Diablo released on Youtube, Associate Community Manager Brandy "Nevalistis" Camel confirmed that the team's working on more Diablo projects and they'll have more information to share later this year. She also briefly mentions Themed Seasons and it's likely they'll come up with a new theme for Season 15.

Don't miss out on your chance to grab one!
The only thing more elusive than a Rainbow Goblin in game is a Rainbow Goblin in real life, but here's your chance to grab one!
To celebrate the Season of Greed, we are releasing a robust and thorough Goblin farming guide for your murderous, loot-craving pleasure! It will take you through a tried-and-tested goblin farming route, suggest some suitable builds and equipment adjustments for the purpose, and even shed some light on goblin farming metagame and etiquette.
But enough talk - it's your turn to take blade and spell to their mischievous hides! While using our route (or your own!), take a screenshot with your Season 14 character and a double goblin spawn - and post it in the comments below. Your post will act as an entry in a random raffle to win one of the 20 plush toys we will be giving away.

For the general rules of our giveaways, please refer to this post. The post-specific rules for this giveaway are as follows:
You need to be on a Seasonal character. Make sure we can see your character and the goblins in the screenshot. (Console players, do your best with the pause screen, if necessary - we understand it is slightly more difficult to do this than on PC.) The giveaway will end on July 2, 2018 at 23:59 CEST. Multiple entries will be disqualified. Winners will be chosen at random after the contest ends. Grab your guide, grab your nephalem and get finding! You might even be lucky enough to find a Rainbow Goblin in-game and outside - as Abd Al-Hazir put it - a ludicrous notion, truly!
This contest has now ended - winners will be contacted via PM once we have filtered spam entries, multiple entries and so on. Please note that this can take some time, but we will post here once everyone has been contacted.
