Blizzard have announced major changes to how the Tavern Heroes program will work in the Spring Season. The idea is that many more people will be able to enter the events, which will make the World Championship more accessible.

Starting on March 12, any approved Fireside Gathering can host a tournament where the winner will qualify for that region's Tavern Hero tournament. The top 32 players from the Tavern Hero tournament for each region will then be declared Tavern Heroes, and will be entered into the Spring preliminary alongside the 128 players who qualify from the point standings. The Tavern Hero tournament will be held the day before the Spring Preliminary for that region.

If you wish to host a qualifying event, you need to fulfil the following requirements:

Blizzard Icon Requirements

Must take place from March 12 to April 17
Must be open to the public, and held in a public venue
Must have a minimum of 16 players
Must use the Conquest format
Must provide a completed event report and tournament bracket within 1 week of the end of the qualifier via email to FiresideGatherings@blizzard.com
Organizers are not eligible to participate in their own Tavern Hero Qualifier

The locations for approved Fireside Gatherings can be found here. It is not clear if these are all going to host Tavern Hero qualifying tournaments, so check with the organisers before turning up.

Year of the Mammoth Arena Guide now available!
Our Arena Guide has been updated by Pesty, to fully reflect the format for The Year of the Mammoth.
As well as the new tier list for classes, the guide addresses each class in detail, so that you can get the most out of your Arena draft. It also discusses which Mana curves work well with which class, and how to pick on your opponents' likely weaknesses.
The new Tier List is shown below:
Tier 1 (Excellent): Mage, Rogue Tier 2 (Great): Paladin, Hunter Tier 3 (Good): Druid, Priest, Shaman, Warlock, Tier 4 (Average): Warrior For any feedback or questions about this guide, check out our Hearthstone General Discussion Forum, or comment in this thread.

The 97th Tavern Brawl is called 'An Ancient Recipe' and it offers players the chance to try out Journey to Un'Goro decks.
The rules of this Brawl are simple: you choose a hero and you get a premade deck with the Un'Goro deck recipe for that class. The deck archetypes are the following and we even have guides for most of them:
Quest Druid Dinomancer Hunter Elemental Mage (guide for almost identical deck here) Quest Paladin Quest Priest Quest Rogue Elemental Shaman Quest Warlock Quest Warrior All deck recipes have pretty good winning chances. This is a nice chance to play with cards you don't own and get to know the new Hearthstone expansion better.
