If you haven't already known, leaving a competitive game and then rejoining will still count as a loss, no matter how long you left for.
We're fixing this. Hopefully today. Apologies for the issue.

GENERAL

Competitive Play

  • The duration of Sudden Death has been adjusted across all maps from 1m45s to the following values:
    • Assault:
      • Hanamura – 1m35s
      • Temple of Anubis – 1m30s
      • Volskaya Industries – 1m35s
    • Escort:
      • Dorado – 1m30s
      • Route 66 – 1m35s
      • Watchpoint: Gibraltar – 1m35s
    • Hybrid:
      • King’s Row – 1m30s
      • Numbani – 1m50s
    • Note: Sudden Death duration is unchanged for Hollywood, which remains at 1m45s

BUG FIXES

General

  • Fixed a bug that prevented Overtime music from playing on Escort and Assault/Escort maps, if they payload was nearing the final checkpoint
  • Fixed a bug where display settings weren’t always saved after restarting the client
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the in-game UI to display incorrectly at 4k resolutions
  • Fixed a bug where sometimes the wrong player level would appear in the Social menu

Maps

  • Fixed an issue with collision not blocking line of sight on certain areas of Nepal

Heroes

  • Fixed a bug that caused Mercy’s Caduceus Staff beam to disconnect from its target if the player a) quickly switched between healing and damage beams by holding down both mouse buttons and/or b) was facing away from the target at the time of the switch
  • Fixed even more bugs that allowed Reaper to Shadow Step to unintended locations on certain maps
  • Fixed a bug that caused Winston’s melee attack during Primal Rage to inconsistently hit targets in range
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused Zarya’s alternate fire to scale incorrectly with her damage boost modifier

Competitive Play

  • Fixed a bug that caused the “Top 500” icon to incorrectly display for certain players in various places throughout the game UI
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused players’ Skill Rating to display as “64” during placement matches
  • Fixed an issue where if you left and rejoined an in-progress Competitive Play match, the game would still track the match as a loss in your placement match history and when determining the amount of Skill Rating you receive for completing a match even if your team won
    • Note: You must be present for the conclusion of the match to be eligible for the win. If you leave a match and do not rejoin again before it’s over, it will count as a loss both in your placement match history and when calculating your Skill Rating adjustment.
  • Fixed an issue where you would still receive a Competitive Play “leave” penalty even if you rejoined a match and completed it
    • Note: If you leave a single Competitive Play match more than 3 times, you will receive a Competitive Play “leave” penalty even if you complete the match.

O_o.  I cannot wait for a new hero.

Will be awesome if they introduce another "offensive" support like Zenyatta, but this time make it actually playable

We saw the early build secrets for the support heroes yesterday, including Lucio's timestop ult, and today it's time for the tanks and defense heroes to share their dirty laundry! Bastion has had the most ults in the game during development, including a mobile mine that he could trigger, which was apparently one of the worst and most hated ults in the game - so Bastion wasn't exactly popular back then either! It seems defense heroes (other than perhaps Junkrat) are generally the most disliked when used against you, with Mei and Hanzo probably standing at the top of that particular list, so definitely check out the stores about their early versions.
And then there's the tanks, with D.Va being the most buggy and problematic whenever anything changes in the game and Reinhardt having been a mech piloted by a little girl, which obviously later led to Orisa.
And in case you missed yesterday's support video, here it is as well:

Jeff Kaplan talked to IGN about some early builds of the 5 support heroes with the added bonus of footage from those early Overwatch days, sharing stuff like Pharah was initially called Mercy (before she was Rocket Dude and then Rocket Queen), Ana was The Alchemist, Lucio's ult stopped time and more!

Skins, emotes, S5 start date and Jeff Kaplan admits competitive rewards might have been a mistake.
The anniversary previews/teases continue as we get to see new skins for Bastion, Pharah, Solider: 76 and Zarya:

And then there's the new voice lines, featuring Winston, Solider: 76 denying paternity, Symmetra setting up the car wash with her turrets and more.
Placeholder for tweet 865329918258827266 The other news come from the competitive side of the game, as we got the end date for Season 4 as well as the start date for S5 and Jeff Kaplan recently admitted that competitive rewards were a mistake:

The anniversary is heating up as we're getting an all day livestream this Wednesday, May 24th, to celebrate OW becoming a 1 year-old. Starting at 10AM CEST and culminating at 8PM with dev interviews, in-game challenges and prizes!

What a year it has been! Since Overwatch launched on May 24, 2016, we’ve met new heroes and traveled to new (sometimes exotic) locations. We played our fair share of Lúcioball and Capture the Rooster, heard Reinhardt retell the terrible tale of Junkestein’s Revenge, and relived Tracer’s first mission during the King’s Row Uprising.
To celebrate what this year has meant to us, we’ve invited some of our friends from across Europe to join us at the TaKeTV studios in Krefeld, Germany, for a day of fun, games, and prizes!  This livestream celebration will begin May 24th at 10:00 CEST, and the party (can’t stop) won’t stop until approximately 20:00 CEST.
English Unit Lost - Stylosa Valkia OneAmongstMany QueenE Kruise Mysca (OW Central) Ryan (OW Central) Hammeh GermanFrenchSpanishRussianItalianPolish Then at 20:00 CEST, we’ll close out the evening with a special anniversary livestream featuring dev interviews, in-game challenges, and even more prizes! So be sure to join us on Twitch as we get ready to fight for the future and jump into our second year of Overwatch...and beyond.
Until then, what’s your most treasured Overwatch memory from the last year? Let us know in the comments below!

Blizzard have begun teasing next week's anniversary event and the new additions it will bring, starting with three new Arena maps, similar to Eco Point: Antarctica. The new maps seem to be based on Dorado, Eichenwalde and Temple of Anubis.

And then we have the inevitable dance emotes, with Sombra, Lucio, Symmetra and Zenyatta getting showcased:

There's under a week to go until the event starts on Tuesday, May 23rd, and there's another change coming up, with standard, non-event loot boxes getting some new stuff, such as emotes for Orisa, Sombra and Reaper.
