11 posts in this topic

As the release date for the DVD and Blu-ray of Warcraft approaches, let's take a look at the rewards you can get in Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and World of Warcraft by purchasing either version.

Physical copies of Warcraft on DVD and Blu-ray will have some lucrative goodies for fans of the Warcraft universe. The copies will come with digital codes for a Medivh Mage hero in Hearthstone, Gul'dan in Heroes of the Storm and another copy of World of Warcraft with 30 days of game time.

Warcraft will be available on September 27 in the U.S. and Canada. It is not known when it is going to be released in Europe and the rest of the world, although French sites report that this should happen around the 11th of October. Lastly, it is not sure if there will be a similar offer in the rest of the world, although we find it unlikely that it won't happen.

lol I knew there had to be some reward for buying the movie. Love that you get guldan in heroes. However, I find the WoW one a bit underwhelming although I understand the marketing "oh you liked the movie? well try the game". However, it would have been nice to have some stupid pet or a toy or something for people already playing wow. Granted we did already get those neat transmogs :)

We already got WoW when we went to see the movie in cinemas... I just wish the WoW reward was better, since it's the game that is most closely related to the movie out of the three.

I was so hyped, then saw the rewards and realised I had them all :(

Still gonna buy it, but I agree that I'd love to have seen some sort of cosmetic reward in WoW. Guess we can get ourselves a RAF reward with it.

Feel like this is the case with a lot of people, but fingers crossed this will just bring more and more people back to the game

I can hope but it seems Legion is doing a good job of that already.

Where do you have to buy this movie to get the content? Is it the steelbook? Is it specific to a store? This article is so vague it just says "select".

Similar wording to what we saw with the cinema promotions. Will have to wait and see it seems for now!

Pretty sure that "physical copies" (beginning of 2nd paragraph) means steelbook. Other than that, as Blainie said, you can see for yourself how vague the blue post - the primary source of this article - is.

Isn't that what our life revolves around? Vague blue posts?

Blizzard announced their plans to discontinue the support of Windows XP / Vista later this year, meaning you won't be able to play the games on said platforms. Once the games aren't supported, you will need to upgrade your operating system to play.
      Ornyx (Source)
Starting later this year, we will begin the process of ending support for Windows XP and Windows Vista in World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo III, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm. Microsoft ceased mainstream support for these versions of Windows in 2009 and 2012, respectively, but since a decent portion of our audience was still using them at the time, we continued supporting them. However, there have been three major Windows releases since Vista, and at this point, the vast majority of our audience has upgraded to one of the newer versions.

After these older operating systems are no longer supported, the games will not run on them, so we encourage any players who are still using one of the older OSes to upgrade to a newer version. We’ll be rolling out this change on a staggered schedule, and will post further notices as we get closer to making the change for each game.

Activision Blizzard has revealed its results for the last quarter of 2016, as well as some general information about the previous year. Overwatch was the big winner for Blizzard in 2016.
2016 was one the best years ever for Activision Blizzard and its Blizzard Entertainment division. To be more precise, Blizzard had its highest average Monthly Active Users (MAUs) in 2016 at 36 million, up 37% from 2016 and 87% from 2014. For the last quarter of 2016, Blizzard's MAUs rose to 41 million.
As far as player investment is concerned, Blizzard had record levels of quarterly and full-year in-game revenues, driven by World of Warcraft in-game content and continued strength of Overwatch customization items. An interesting detail is that Blizzard doesn't depend that much on World of Warcraft for its earnings (more than 60% of its segments revenues came from its other franchises) and that 20% of its revenues came from consoles.
There are plans for more linear media (that is comics, digital animated movies and perhaps even TV series or films) planned for all of Blizzard's titles - especially, though, for Overwatch. Blizzard's newest title proved to be a success since it became the company's fastest game ever to reach 25 million players, surpassing Diablo III's previous record.
Lastly, World of Warcraft's subscribers grew by 10% in 2016 and over 20% in the last months of 2016, proving that Legion has managed to revitalise the game. Hearthstone also saw its playerbase rise by 20% last year. There was no mention of Heroes of the Storm, Diablo III and StarCraft 2.
You can find the entire report here and the slideshow presentation here.

Associate Community Representative Tim Frazier better known as "Trikslyr" has announced that he's leaving Blizzard to pursue his caster career. So far he's doing a tremendous job at HGC and yesterday's game between Misfits and Fnatic was a good example!
The first announcement was made some time ago on reddit.
      Trikslyr
Taking the casting position was a contracted position, not a position posted as a Blizzard employee. So, long story short, I'm no longer a Blizzard employee, thus no flair.
But, I get to cast and be a part of HGC and work side by side with Blizzard! Pretty exciting.

Yesterday, he reconfirmed it on Twitter.

Please note that the use of third-party software known as "bots" is against the ToS and will get your account suspended. This article is purely informative and doesn't promote botting in any way.
Blizzard is doing an excellent job to stop botters. The company won another lawsuit against Bossland, the creator of Honorbuddy, one of WoW's most advanced and popular bots. As a result, sales of Honorbuddy must cease in Germany.
Money is running out and the bot makers will need to move their operations outside of Germany. Blizzard has also been improving Warden's anti-cheating detection algorithms lately, resulting in many banwaves last year. It's worth noting that lawsuits between Blizzard and Bossland are ongoing for several years now and this is the longest time a botting provider was able to keep up with Blizzard without immediately taking down their services.
Bossland is running out of money, because of expensive lawsuits and low sales, so instead of bringing down the service, they reverted lifetime keys to 2 years. The official court decision isn't yet available to the public.
Props to Blizzard for striving to make WoW a fair game!
