Raid Testing Oct 13-17: Odyn and Helya Heroic

Recommended Posts

It seems our Trial of Valor preview was just in time as we'll all get to see some bosses on the PTR very soon! Odyn, Guarm and Helya get the Heroic treatment with Odyn coming back for a little Mythic later on, and the Normal modes should be open over the weekend as well.

Blizzard LogoWatcher

On Thursday, October 13, and Monday, October 17, we will be conducting focused raid tests of Trial of Valor bosses.

Remember that Heroic difficulty scales for any group size between 10 and 30 players, so feel free to assemble and bring a group of any size within that range. Mythic, of course, requires a fixed 20-player group.

Thursday, October 13

Odyn - Heroic Trial of Valor
13:30 PDT (16:30 EDT, 22:30 CEST)

Helya - Heroic Trial of Valor
15:00 PDT (18:00 EDT, 24:00 CEST)

(We are also aiming to open Normal mode Trial of Valor over the weekend.)

Monday, October 17

Odyn - Mythic Trial of Valor
13:30 PDT (16:30 EDT, 22:30 CEST)

Guarm - Heroic Trial of Valor
15:00 PDT (18:00 EDT, 24:00 CEST)

As always, this testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a PTR environment. We might have to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely, due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc. Keep an eye on this forum for the latest information, and thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.

Q: How do I get into the raid zone?

A: In Dalaran, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind, you may speak to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade Sr. in order to teleport into the raid zone while it is open for testing. (The option to teleport into a zone will not be available when the zone is not open for testing.)

Q: What character should I use to test the raid?

A: Whichever you prefer. We will be scaling players' effective level to 110 for raid testing, and their item level to an appropriate threshold for the encounter(s) being tested.

Q: How long does testing last?

A: The primary purpose of testing is to give us the information we need to balance the encounters, evaluate how mechanics are playing out in practice, and identify bugs. Once we're satisfied that we've received that information for a given boss, we'll be shutting down testing. Usually this takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but there are no guarantees.

Hiya, i am confused by the Question  What character should I use to test the raid?  and the answer to it, specifically the  We will be scaling players' effective level to 110 for raid testing bit, will there be the character template implemented or something else?? And if this is the case does it mean i will get a set amount of AP to spend aswell.

Thanks

Not really sure tbh, havent done one of these in a while now. Presumably you'll get everything you need for a char.

Public Test Realm isn't beta, which is why there are no character templates available.  You are supposed to copy your character from live to the PTR and it will be an exact copy of your character (with no extra additions). Your item level will be adjusted by a buff when you enter the instance to match the difficulty level of the testing environment, pretty much like the buff you get running Heroics, but instead of a flat % increase this one is about item level scaling.

We have an upcoming fix for the new Spirit of Preservation essence on the 8.3 PTRand how it interacts with Mistweaver Monks' Vivify. Apparently the way it affects all healing from Vivify, both primary and other targets of the spell, has been changed to only affect the primary target, as was originally intended and as it works with other similar spells. The change will arrive in an upcoming PTR build.

Mistweavers are also receiving additional changes with 8,3 which you can find in our coverage of all the class changes for the patch.

As a note for Mistweaver monks, a bug was recently fixed with regards to Spirit of Preservation ’s minor Essence effect and how it interacts with Vivify .
Prior to this bug fix, both the increased healing amount and critical strike chance from the minor Essence applied to all healing effects of Vivify, not just the primary target healing. This wasn’t intended. The essence should only be affecting the primary Vivify target’s healing value and crit chance, similar to how it works with something like Flash Heal or Healing Surge . A future PTR build should have this bug fix in it.

In this week's 8.3 Build 32805, Blizzard has updated Death Knight eyes with Lich King style smoke.
Blizzard has updated the Death Knight eye glow multiple times throughout 8.3 testing. Below is a comparison of the last two PTR versions and the one we currently have live on 8.2.5 retail.

Thanks to reddit user Malevolent_Vengeance for the screenshot.
In this week's 8.3 PTR patch, the latest version comes with smoke coming off of their eyes.

      Patch 8.3.0 Build 32805
All races can become Death Knights in Visions of N'Zoth and there will be a new starting experience for the class which involves Bolvar. If you want to create an Allied Race or Pandaren Death Knight in Visions of N'Zoth, you must pre-order WoW Shadowlands.

In Patch 8.3, any tanking specialization or a Druid of any spec with Bear Form active will have a flat +50% threat modifier applied to them when they unlock the Major Slot on their Heart of Azeroth. Changing specs to non-tank specs or leaving Bear Form will remove the threat modifier.
Up to now, tank specializations received bonus threat for each slot they had unlocked on their Heart of Azeroth. This is changing in Visions of N'Zoth and you'll receive +50% threat once you've unlocked the Major Slot.
A player with Heart of Azeroth level 70 should have roughly the same amount of total threat modifiers before and after Patch 8.3 goes live.
Let's hope the threat modifier will be baseline for all tank specs in WoW Shadowlands.
      Blizzard (Source)
We made a change via hotfix a few months ago to grant Tank specialization characters bonus threat for each slot they had unlocked on their Heart of Azeroth. In the Visions of N’Zoth update, we have changed this slightly.
In Visions of N’Zoth, once you have unlocked the Major Slot, if you are any tanking specialization or a druid of any specialization with Bear Form active, you will just have a +50% threat modifier applied to you. Changing specializations to a non-tank specialization or leaving Bear Form will remove this threat modifier.
There is no longer any bonus threat for each unlocked slot, you just get a sizable threat bump from the start. This should help reduce some issues where tanks with different Heart of Azeroth levels and slot unlocks were having difficulties with threat between each other.
edit: This threat modifier should be multiplicative, not additive. A player currently at Heart of Azeroth level 70 with all slots unlocked should have roughly the same amount of total threat modifiers before and after the Visions of N’Zoth update hits.

With the release of the updated Recruit A Friend program, unclaimed rewards from the previous version of the program will expire on December 31.
Here's a short reminder for everyone with pending RAF rewards earned under the previous version of the program. You must claim them before the end of this year.
      Blizzard (Source)
UPDATE: If you were active in the previous Recruit A Friend program, you will no longer be able to earn rewards under the previous program as of December 31, 2019. All unclaimed rewards earned under the previous program will expire and we will be removing the redemption functionality.

Hurricane released a teaser for the Black Temple trailer that will be slightly longer than his Naxxramas trailer released back in 2017.
Hurricane has been working on the Black Temple trailer for the last three months and we will need to wait a little longer for the full video.
