Zul'jin Abilities & Talents Overview

Blizzard revealed Zul'jin as the next Hero to be added to the Nexus as we predicted yesterday, when they released a teaser on Twitter.

His abilities including animations were previewed on Facebook and you can view the video here.

Abilities Overview

[Trait] Berserker
Zul’jin gains 1% Attack Speed per 1% of missing Health. 
Zul’jin can activate Berserker to increase the damage of his Basic Attacks by 25% at the cost of 2% of his maximum Health per attack.

[Q] Grievous Throw
Zul’jin throws an axe forward, dealing damage to the first 2 enemies hit and marking them for 8 seconds. Marked enemies take 50% bonus damage from Zul’jin’s next 3 Basic Attacks against them.

[W] Twin Cleave
Throw 2 axes in a large circular arc, dealing damage and slowing affected enemies by 15% per axe for 2 seconds.

[E] Regeneration
Zul’jin channels to regenerate 25% of his maximum Health over 4 seconds. Moving or taking damage while channeling will interrupt this effect.

[R1] Taz’dingo
Zul’jin is Unkillable for the next 4 seconds, and cannot be reduced to less than 1 Health. Taz’dingo!

[R2] Guillotine
Zul’jin throws a massive guillotine into the sky that crashes down on enemies in the targeted area. The lower Zul’jin’s Health, the more damage it deals.

Talents

In addition to the abilities, GosuGamers have posted a full list of Zul'jin's talents.

Level 1

  • [Q] Boneslicer 
    • Grievous Throw now pierces through enemies. Bonus damage increased by 15%.
  • [Passive] Arcanite Axes
    • Twin Cleave cooldown reduced by 0.5 seconds for every Hero hit. Ability Power is increased by 25% while below 50% Health.
  • [Passive] You Want Axe?
    • Every 5 Basic Attacks used against Heroes increases your Basic Attack damage by 1.5. Upon reaching 24 Stacks, permanently gain 20% Range.

Level 4

  • [E] Troll's Blood
    • Increases Regeneration healing by 75%.
  • [Passive] Let the Killing Begin
    • Enemies killed by you increase your attack speed by 6% for 10 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. Attacks refresh duration.
  • [Passive] Headhunter
    • [!] Quest: Kill all unique enemy Heroes. Reward: Activate to reveal all enemy Heroes for 4 seconds.

Level 7

  • [Q] Vicious Assault
    • Increases the number of charges to 6. Basic Attacks against afflicted Heroes reduces cooldown by 2 seconds.
  • [W] Wrong Place Wrong Time
    • If an enemy is hit by both axes at the same time, deal bonus damage.
  • [Trait] Recklessness
    • While below 50% health, gain 25% bonus Attack Damage.

Level 10 (Heroic Abilities)

  • [R1] Taz'dingo!
    • Cannot be reduced to less than 1 Health for the next 4 seconds.
  • [R2] Guillotine
    • Throw a massive axe into the air that crashes down on enemies, dealing damage based on how much Health you are missing.

Level 13

  • [Q] Eye of Zul'jin
    • Hitting an enemy Hero with Grievous Throw increases Movement Speed by 25% for 2 seconds.
  • [E] Forest Medicine
    • Regeneration no longer has to be channeled. Damage still breaks the heal.
  • [Active] Voodoo Shuffle
    • Activate to remove all Slow and Root effects.

Level 16

  • [W] Swirling Death
    • Axes cycle twice and can hit enemies on each revolution but cooldown is increased by 4 seconds.
  • [W] Lacerate
    • Increases Slow amount of each axe by 15%.
  • [Trait] Ferocity
    • Increases the Attack Speed bonus of Berserker by 40%.

Level 20

  • [R1] Amani Resilience
    • Restore Health equal to 50% of the damage you dealt while using Taz'dingo.
  • [R2] Buzzsaw
    • After impact, the Guillotine continues rapidly forward, dealing damage to enemies in the line.
  • [Active] Ensnare
    • Throw a net forward, rooting the first enemy hit.

Can't wait to try him out! Wish we could see exact numbers, cooldowns, etc. but still just knowing abilities and talents from the get go is great. Looks like he's gonna be a very high skillcap as well, or at least for berserker. I can see a basic attack build, a survivability build, and a build for q and w as well. Seems like a much higher skillcap Valla, who is better with a basic attack build than a Hungering Arrow build or Multishot build.

My interest is certainly piqued, but judgement will have to wait till we see cool downs and base stats. Not much utility in his kit (though headhunter looks very interesting) so he will likely hinge completely on his tuning.

for example, is he a high hit point bruiser whose gameplay will focus on a balancing act of regent and sustained damage? Or is he a high base attack glass cannon that is most dangerous when he's cornered and almost dead? Looking forward to finding out on the ptr!

I agree.  His kit seems like a Gul'dan in reverse.  It certainly will require skill to walk a fine line with your hit points.  His tuning will definately be the focus of his ability to be played.

      Design-wise, Deathwing is probably the craziest Hero added to the game since the introduction of Cho'gall, and in this post, we're going through the main highlights of the reveal stream.
      Deathwing Reveal Highlights
      Deathwing is going to be in his dragon form the whole game and has no human form. He's even bigger than Alexstrasza. All of his abilities have delays. Although he has a lot of Health, Deathwing is classified as a Bruiser. The Hero will be playable at BlizzCon and go live in December. His trait is called The Aspect of Death and comes with four perks. Deathwing deals 100% bonus damage to enemy Heroes (similar to Alarak). He is permanently Unstoppable. Deathwing is completely unaffected by Allied abilities. You can't do anything to interact with him (no healing, Abathur hatting, NOTHING). He's going to play his own game. He has adamantium plates and starts the game with 40 Armor. Every 25% Health he will lose a plate which takes away 10 Armor. It's the direct opposite of Garrosh who gets tankier as he's close to dying. Deathwing has a custom mount. He leaves the map completely and restores Health over time, which is his primary way of getting back health that he lost while he was on the ground. This is also the only way for him to regain armor plates, as picking up globes will not restore his armor plates. After you land, your abilities will have a short cooldown. He can land anywhere on the map that he has vision and when he lands pick one of two different forms: The Destroyer form / The Worldbreaker form which change his base kit. He can swap between his forms by activating his trait (Thanks @Valhalen The Destroyer form focuses on melee while the Worldbreaker form revolves around ranged attacks. Destroyer Form Abilities
      [Q] Molten Flame is the highest damage-dealing ability in the game. Deathwing shoots a giant flame breath in front of him as you'd expect from a dragon.

      [W] Incinierate is a close-range (circle AoE) ability. After a short delay, he releases a pulse of flame with a flap of his wings.

      [E] Onslaught allows Deathwing to lunge forward a small distance. Any Heroes hit will be Slowed and at the end of the charge, he's going to bite the enemy for extra damage.

      Worldbreaker Form Abilities
      This is the Deathwing from the Cataclysm cinematic.
      [Q] Molten Flame is the same as in his other form and makes him shoot a giant flame breath.

      [W] Lava Burst: Deathwing makes slaps his paw into the ground which creates a small circular lava pool in an area around him. It has a significant Slow attached which allows him to set up his [Q] Flame Breath.

      [E] Earthshatter: Deathwing rears up and slams his paws into the ground and these little V-shaped skillshots go out that Stun all enemies hit as the ground rumbles. 

      Heroic Ability
      Deathwing just has one Heroic ability, but it's available from the start of the game.
      [R] Cataclysm: Deathwing flies in the sky, flies over the whole area burning everyone underneath his wings, scorching the ground for several seconds. He lands at the end of the path. It's a flying Lava Wave. The Level 10 upgrade makes it deal more damage and Cataclysm's cooldown is reset when an Enemy Fort/Keep is destroyed.

      Talents
      At Level 10, he can alternatively pick an ability called [1] Bellowing Roar which Fears everyone around him.
      At Level 20, he gets another [R] Cataclysm upgrade which further reduces its cooldown. His other talent is called Rival of a God which allows him to Stun when he lands from the sky. It also gives him access to all Level 7 talents which affect his mount ability, like meteors while landing.

      Deathwing has been accidentally leaked as the next Hero to join the Nexus. The reveal starts at 10:30 AM PDT on Twitch. Hero Designer Kyle Dates and Live Game Designer Adam Jackson will sit down with Trikslyr and Jhow to show off the first gameplay of the Worldbreaker.

      The introduction of Deathwing, especially now with BlizzCon around the corner, makes you wonder what they have in store for Heroes of the Storm at the event.
