Update 2: Blizzard have posted actual numbers for the Convergence of Fates changes. They have been incorporated into the first blue post here.
Update 1: There have been some new blue posts going even deeper into detail on the matter, check at the bottom of the article for them or click here.

_________________________________________________________________

We get specific details and numbers for the upcoming trinket changes, as well as an explanation and specifics on the Crusade nerf, both coming tomorrow with the reset. Still no exact stats for Convergence of Fates, but we get an idea of how it will end up in relation to specific specs and talents. You can check out the previous announcement of the changes here.

In general, we’ve found that our tuning on trinkets which relied on a direct damage or healing effect (as opposed to their raw stats) have come up a bit short this expansion. To help address that, we’re making the following changes:

  • Claw of the Crystalline ScorpidClaw of the Crystalline Scorpid: Damage increased by 30%.
  • Arcanogolem DigitArcanogolem Digit: Damage increased by 30%.
  • Entwined Elemental FociEntwined Elemental Foci: The amount of Critical Strike, Mastery, and Haste granted by this item’s proc has been increased by 5%.
  • Might of KrosusMight of Krosus: Base damage reduced by 25%, but is now always a critical strike.
    • The tooltip for Might of Krosus will display the amount of damage that will result from the critical hit, not the base damage.
    • Also fixed a bug where the cooldown was incorrectly being reduced if Might of Krosus damaged at least 3 targets.
  • Draught of SoulsDraught of Souls: The Use effect of this trinket now respects the global cooldown.
    • The damage of this trinket is now reduced by 30% for Unholy Death Knights (was reduced by 40%).
    • Designer Notes: Since Draught of Souls deals Shadow Damage, it’s increased by Unholy’s Mastery, which means we needed to reduce its base damage to keep its overall value similar to other classes. It’s currently a little too low, however, so we’re increasing the damage it deals for Unholy.
  • Icon of RotIcon of Rot: Damage increased by 40%.
  • Pharamere's Forbidden GrimoirePharamere's Forbidden Grimoire: Damage increased by 85%.
  • Fury of the Burning SkyFury of the Burning Sky: Damage increased by 40%.
  • Star GateStar Gate: Damage increased by 30%.
  • Aluriel's MirrorAluriel's Mirror: Healing-over-time amount increased by 140%. Detonation effect reduced by 35%.
    • Designer Notes: Aluriel’s Mirror’s detonation effect is strong when it activates, but hard to rely on. We’re increasing the heal-over-time effect significantly to improve the up-front value of this trinket, and reducing the detonation effect slightly to compensate.
  • Perfectly Preserved CakePerfectly Preserved Cake: Absorb amount increased by 140%.
  • Etraeus' Celestial MapEtraeus' Celestial Map: The amount of Critical Strike, Mastery, and Haste granted by this item’s proc has been increased by 5%.

As for Convergence of FatesConvergence of Fates, we’re spending a little extra time to make sure our changes here are as comprehensive as possible, so we don’t have final numbers yet. However, we can share our overall plan for the changes we intend to make. We intend to reduce its base effectiveness (before talents) for Windwalkers, and increase its base effectiveness for Retribution Paladins and Frost and Unholy Death Knights. Separately, we plan to adjust its effectiveness individually for the following talents:

 UPDATE:

Here's the changes we're looking to make for As for Convergence of FatesConvergence of Fates interaction with some of the throughput cooldowns it affects. These numbers are compared to the trinket's current performance on live, and are not additive with each other.

Additionally, on the topic of tank trinkets, we'll be increasing Animated ExoskeletonAnimated Exoskeleton's maximum shield amount by 33%. We're continuing to investigate tank trinkets, but that change will make it in for this week's hotfix.

We’re planning to make these changes with the next weekly restarts, alongside the release of Mythic Nighthold. Overall, this should make the trinkets in Nighthold more competitive with other trinkets available elsewhere in the expansion.

And the Crusade nerf explanation:

Blizzard LogoSigma (source)

We are definitely keenly aware that people feel better when we fix a problem by buffing something, rather than fixing it by nerfing something. If you look across classes and talent rows in 7.1.5, you'll see the great majority of balance issues were addressed by buffing underperforming talents. There are a few factors that go into this decision though, and it generally has to be handled on a case-by-case basis.

One issue when balancing a lopsided talent row is whether we want the overall power of the spec to go slightly up or slightly down in the process. In the case of Retribution during our tuning adjustments for the opening of Nighthold, we intended to slightly nerf the topend performance of the spec (essentially, the performance of players stacking trinkets/relics/legendaries that all build around CrusadeCrusade). I know there's no easy way to deliver that message, but hopefully it's at least worth clarifying that it's not some accident of how we chose to balance the L100 row. Players say "why couldn't we buff Divine PurposeDivine Purpose instead of nerfing CrusadeCrusade", for the very understandable reason that the former wouldn't have resulted in a slight DPS nerf. But we were conscious of the slight DPS nerf when we decided to do it this way.

Another factor is that there are sometimes limits on how powerful we want an individual talent to be, regardless of balance within the row. Divine PurposeDivine Purpose and CrusadeCrusade are both very strong talents, that have a significant impact on the rotation and playstyle of the spec (and as mentioned, on gear/talent/relic/etc. decisions), even at their current strength. Balancing Retribution L100 at an even higher point would start causing more issues--Divine PurposeDivine Purpose would allow strings of multiple free finishers very often, CrusadeCrusade would continue to represent a majority of the spec's damage within a cooldown, and Holy WrathHoly Wrath would have to get even more bursty to try to compete with the other two. Sometimes we have to be careful about addressing all balance problems by buffing two talents up to match the highest one, because it can lead to a lot of power creep on the importance of a single talent to an entire DPS rotation.

Draught of Souls and Nightblooming Frond details:

Blizzard LogoLore

We'll look into Draught of SoulsDraught of Souls and its effect for Warriors a bit more. Worth noting that the change to have it on the GCD does mean the trinket will be a bit weaker after these hotfixes for most classes (Unholy DK being the exception, due to the damage increase).

Regarding the Unholy damage reduction for Draught, again, that's only there to counteract the fact that Unholy's Mastery increases Draught's damage. Either way, its damage is going up by ~17% with this hotfix, which is pretty substantial.

We'll also take another look at Nightblooming FrondNightblooming Frond.

Tank trinkets are on our to-do list, but not for this round of trinket tuning. We agree that they need some help.

In a recent Reddit thread, players shared their regrettable experiences with the game's infamous Black Market Auction House (BMAH).
The highest bids often come with stories of disappointment and frustration, as highlighted by these popular comments:
Reddit user MadsenAn regretted spending a whopping 700,000 gold on a Tabard of Brilliance, only to receive it from a Twitch drop the same day, calling the coincidence "personal."
Redditor DM_ME_KUL_TIRAN_FEET shared a tale of woe about spending 180,000 gold on a BMAH mystery box, which contained a Goblin Weather Machine that they had already received from a Twitch drop just a day earlier.
Sammywitchdr recounted how they spent over 1 million gold on a Swift Zulian Panther thinking it was the rare ZG Tiger from vanilla WoW, only to realize they already owned the panther from a previous expansion.
Thoms689 was duped into bidding 1.2 million gold for a Tabard of Frost by a friend who was secretly outbidding him to inflate the price, a betrayal that cost him both gold and a friendship.
Vitchman shared a frustrating experience with a 600,000 gold bid for what turned out to be an Ordos drop that was unsuitable for his character class, illustrating the risks associated with the mysterious contents of BMAH boxes.
Caronry discussed a close call with bidding 5 million gold on an Arcanite Ripper, thankful to have been outbid, which potentially saved them from later regret.
Sigilweavers told a comedic yet painful tale of bidding 900,000 gold for a Firelands mount only to discover they already owned it after winning the auction. This story serves as a cautionary reminder to double-check what you already have before entering a bidding war.
MattyIce8998 recounted an almost regrettable bid of 800,000 gold on Frostfire shoulders, narrowly avoided by being outbid. They eventually acquired the item when it became craftable, much cheaper.
These stories encapsulate the high-risk, high-reward nature of the Black Market Auction House, where players' fortunes can swing dramatically with each bid and the lengths to which gamers will go for the rarities WoW has to offer.
Do you have any interesting BMAH story for us? Don't forget to share it in the comments!

Find out how to obtain the new Spark of Awakening in Season 4.
Spark of Awakening is used to set the item level of crafted gear to Item Level 502 in Season 4, but how can you obtain one on live servers?
Abandon the "Aiding the Accord" quest if it's in your Quest Log.
Pick up the weekly quest from Therazal in central Valdrakken. As you can see, there are now three possible quests for you to receive that will change every week.

The weekly quest options (and objectives) will always be the following:
      Dragon Isles Quest
Participate in a Community Feast Participate in a Hunt Lay siege to Dragonbane Keep Zaralek Cavern Quest
Protect the Researchers Under Fire Loot a Secured Shipment (Suffusion Camp) Complete a Time Rift Amirdrassil Quest
Earn 50 Bloom during the Superbloom Complete a Superbloom Plant 3 Dreamseeds Quest Rewards
After completing the weekly quest you will receive 1 Splintered Spark of Awakening) via Weekly Awakened Activity and a Cache of Awakened Storms (containing gold or gear).
You will need two Splintered Spark of Awakening and 250 Flightstones to create one Spark of Awakening.
      Awakened Raid Bosses
Apparently, Splintered Spark of Awakening have a chance to drop from Awakened Raid bosses, as spotted by @azatoth668!

We'd like to introduce you to a game-changing nameplate addon for Season 4 that's essential for excelling in Mythic+ dungeons.
Tracking every mob and their abilities in Mythic+ can be overwhelming, but this addon excels by replacing standard mob nameplates and cast bars to enhance your gameplay.
Once installed, mobs with critical interrupts will display a thick orange cast bar, while less crucial ones will show a thinner yellow bar.

Mobs with less crucial interrupts will have a thinner yellow cast bar.

Additionally, any mobs that inflict heavy frontal cone damage are marked with an arrow and feature orange cast bars. A voice alert will also prompt you to move by announcing "front."

The addon further assists by indicating non-interruptible spells that require crowd control with a purple cast bar and a vocal "cc" alert.

For tanks, if you're not holding aggro, the nameplates of the mobs will turn red, quickly showing you which ones to target.

There's also a handy visual cue on the cast bar, surrounded by a green border, signaling when you can interrupt an ability and your interrupt skill is off cooldown.

      Ready to try it out?
You can download Quazii Plater here.
For setup assistance, watch Quazii's comprehensive video guide.
Quazii has also created a Mythic+ cheatsheet that details all critical abilities for Season 4 dungeons, available in a text format.

Players are currently unable to catalyze gear from the Black Temple Timewalking cache into class set piece.
It's unclear whether this limitation is a bug or an intended feature, but the gear obtained from completing this week's Black Temple Timewalking quest cannot be converted into a set piece using the Revival Catalyst, as reported on Reddit.
I personally checked this at Antuka and can confirm that gear from the weekly quest cache cannot be catalyzed. I received the Grips of Damnation from the Essence boss yesterday, and found that the item was ineligible for conversion at the Catalyst.

Here's how you can upgrade your legendary weapons in Dragonflight Season 4 next week!
This one is for Fyr'alath and Nasz'uro owners. You must first farm 2 Antique Bronze Bullions. However, you can only acquire 1 Antique Bronze Bullion per week from Awakened Raid bosses. The bullion will drop in Raid Finder difficulty too.
Next week, the cap will be raised to 2 and a catch-up method will be implemented, so players who didn't have the chance to get their first bullion can get it from the weekly quest in Valdrakken.
Anyway, the soonest you can upgrade your legendary to the base item level of 502 is during the week of April 30th (so next week).
Once you have 2 Antique Bronze Bullions, head to the Parting Glass in Valdrakken.

Evokers need to buy Scale of Awakening from Iszinormi for 2 Antique Bronze Bullions. Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors need to buy Scale of Awakening from Iszinormi for  2 Antique Bronze Bullions. Once purchased, use the consumable to upgrade your legendary to item level 502, the base item level for Season 4.
After that, you can further upgrade your legendary using Flightstones and crests. Check out our gear upgrading guide for more info!
