Unlocking Flying: World Quests [Official]

Recommended Posts

Blizzard has another entry in their step-by-step guide to unlocking flying in 7.2. This one is slightly weird, as there can't be too many people that haven't finished the World Quest part of the requirement, and is mostly an excuse to talk about the WQ system! In any case, you can also check out our full guide to getting flying, including the 7.2 steps.

From slaying bosses to collecting squirrels, there are hundreds of different (and occasionally cute) World Quests to take on. There’s something for everyone, with rewards that range from piles of gold to Legendary loot. What are you waiting for?

World Quests unlock when you reach level 110 and complete the quest Uniting the Isles. The quest asks you to reach Friendly with five of the Broken Isles’ factions: Valarjar, Highmountain Tribe, Dreamweavers, Court of Farondis, and the Nightfallen. This is easily achieved by questing through the respective zones without having to complete every quest in the area. As an extra incentive, getting to Friendly with the five factions rewards the incredibly useful Flight Master’s Whistle. This handy item whisks you away to the nearest known flight path, so you can make the perfect getaway once you’ve finished your mission and want to get home.

For the achievement Variety is the Spice of Life—part of Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One—you must complete 100 unique World Quests, which shouldn't be too hard to get through, because there are over 800 diffrent World Quests that pop up on the map.

Faction World Quests

World Quests reward reputation with the faction offering the quest.

Zone-specific:
  • Valarjar in Stormheim
  • Highmountain Tribe in Highmountain
  • Dreamweavers in Val’sharah
  • Court of Farondis in Azsuna
  • The Nightfallen in Suramar

These are the most common World Quests and usually reward artifact power, gold, or gear.

Across all zones:
  • The Wardens
  • Kirin Tor

The Kirin Tor offer puzzles and conundrums throughout the Broken Isles, with quests that test your attention to detail, level of concentration, and love (or not) of puzzles.

Emissary Caches

Once a day, an Emissary task pops for you and the quest information appears on your map. The Emissary task is a set of four quests for a particular faction (except Kirin Tor, which only asks for three). When you complete the Emissary task and hand it in, you’ll be rewarded with two items: artifact power and a chest. The chest can drop gear, Order Resources, Blood of Sargeras, gold, and legendary loot. Completing the Kirin Tor Emissary task awards an extra reputation item, that can be applied to the faction of your choice.

Profession World Quests

Your primary and secondary professions also offer World Quests, and these quests are usually simpler. For example, for First Aid, you'll travel to a location and heal injured NPCs. For Fishing, you'll travel to a particular place and catch a certain number of fish. These quests are rarer than the faction quests, but they're very much worth doing if you haven't hit 800 points.

World Quest Difficulty

Epic World Quests appear in purple on the map and are always World Bosses. They take place either out in the world or inside a raid. These can only be completed as part of a group, so check Group Finder to find people to help you.

Rare World Quests appear in blue on the map and are sometimes—but not often— dungeon quests. Again, if you need to, you can find a dungeon group through Group Finder.

Everything else is a Common Quest and all of them can be soloed. These include a mix of kill missions, gathering, pet battles, percentage completion, storytelling, discovery, creation, or plain old silliness. There’s something for everyone.

World Quest Rewards
  • Artifact Power: level up your artifact weapon
  • Order Resources: recruit troops, run missions, and research upgrades for your order hall
  • PvP and PvE equipment: increase your gear level; some items upgrade (randomly) to warforged or titanforged
  • Blood of Sargeras: can be used as currency to buy resources from Illnea Bloodthorn
  • Profession reagents
  • Pet Charms
  • Reputation
  • Gold
  • Curious Coin: can be used as currency to buy items from Xur’ios
  • Essence of Aman’Thul: a quest item
  • Champion upgrades

What are you waiting for?
Remember: you don’t have to be on the Emissary task to do World Quests. If you really want to, you can complete every quest on the map. Even the one with the squirrels.

Let us know if we’ve missed anything in the comments below—and good luck!

Didn't they remove the Friendly requirement to start world quests in 7.1.5? Or is that only for alts on an account?

Also, are they adding First Aid world quests? Because the only FA quests so far are random zone drops, and I'd be surprised if they counted.

The title of this topic is "Unlocking Flying: World Quests [Official]".

I don't see anything about that here, do you? It is all about world quests.

This article focuses on the World Quests part of the requirement. Since all you have to do for this part is complete 100 World Quests, a small reminder as to what exactly they are and how to complete them as efficiently as possible can never hurt. So, this is, as Starym said, "mostly an excuse to talk about the WQ system!"

We've recently talked a lot about the strange occurrences that happened on the US Khadgar server when it  failed a realm connection, as many players had their accounts set back to around Mists of Pandaria, and the subsequent restoration of said accounts. Popular YouTuber MadSeasonShow was one of the ones affected and has made a video going through what happened after his character restoration, including additional potential issues with the restorations.
As you'll remember, while characters were brought back to their current levels, the old copies of those characters (if they existed in MoP) were left on the accounts, so players had doubles. The thing is, some of these characters could have very valuable items that were since either lost, deleted or sold, and could potentially even re-sell them, and as MadSeason mentions, there could be some REALLY valuable stuff in there like the TCG mounts or similar. In any case, check out the video for a quick overview of the whole situation:
And, because it's pretty funny, here's the original video from when the characters simply vanished/were deleveled and no one was sure what was going on:
Khadgar's troubles potentially aren't over yet, as the failed realm connections are coming up again tomorrow, so let's see what happens this time!

Monks are a class that did not receive many changes on the Shadowlands Beta until very late in the cycle. We're checking out the latest round of Monk changes, one month ahead of Shadowlands release.
      Highlights
Energizing Elixir has been removed from the global cooldown. Blizzard is aware of balance concerns Windwalker Monks have about dual-wield and Two-Handed weapons, and they are considering different options to address the problem, but they've got nothing to share at this time.  They are also aware of bugs related to Storm, Earth, and Fire in relation to other spells. They are looking to improve the reliability of the ability in future Beta builds. Weapons of Order (Kyrian Covenant Ability) has been redesigned for WW Monks. Multiple Legendary Powers have been tweaked. Monk
Faeline Stomp (Night Fae Covenant Ability) now deals damage (or heals if Mistweaver) to targets in front of the Monk when cast and continues to deal damage to targets caught in the Faelines. Spinning Crane Kick now caps at 6 unique targets (was 5), dealing up to 60% damage (was 50%). Weapons of Order (Kyrian Covenant Ability) Brewmaster: For the next 30 seconds, your Mastery is increased by 10%. Additionally, Keg Smash cooldown is reset instantly and enemies hit by the ability take 5% increased damage from you for 8 seconds, stacking up to 5 times; Mistweaver: For the next 30 seconds, your Mastery is increased by 10%. Additionally, Essence Font cooldown is reset instantly and heals up to 6 nearby allies for (30% of Spell Power) Health on channel start and end; Windwalker: For the next 30 seconds, your Mastery is increased by 10% 13%. Additionally, Rising Sun Kick cooldown is reset instantly and your Rising Sun Kick reduces the cost of your Chi Abilities by 1 for 5 seconds, and Blackout Kick reduces the cooldown of affected abilities by an additional 1 second. Mistweaver
Ancient Teachings of the Monastery (Legendary Power) - Your Tiger Palm, Blackout Kick, and Rising Sun Kick heal an injured ally within 20 yards for 120% of the damage done to an injured ally within 20 yards. Enveloping Breath - While active, Yu'lon and Chi'Ji heal nearby targets with Enveloping Breath when you cast Enveloping Mist, healing for [ 30% 180% of Spell Power ] over 6 sec, and increasing the healing they receive from you by 10%. Tear of Morning (Legendary Power) - Renewing Mist applies Extended Life to the initial target, instantly healing them for 145% of Holy Spell Power and increasing all healing done to them increases your healing done to the target by 15% for 12 seconds. When you heal with Enveloping Mist or Vivify, 50% of the heal is also applied to targets within your Extend Life effect. 25% of your Enveloping Mist and Vivify healing is also applied to all targets with Tear of Morning. Windwalker
Haste now affects the periodic of Crackling Tiger Lightning. Energizing Elixir (Level 45 Talent) has been moved off the global cooldown. Blizzard has fixed a bug where Rising Sun Kick and Whirling Dragon Punch weren't contributing to Xuen's Empowered Tiger Lightning. Rising Sun Kick (Rank 2) restored. Increases the damage of Rising Sun Kick by 70%.

The latest Mage class changes from Shadowlands Beta revolve around Venthyr Covenant Ability and Legendary Power tuning.
      Mage
Mirrors of Torment has been updated to grant you Brain Freeze, Fire Blast cooldown reduction, or Mana when a mirror is consumed, based on your current specialization. It can now proc from auto-attacks, but can only occur once every 6 seconds.
Mirrors of Torment (Venthyr Covenant Ability) Arcane: Conjures 3 mirrors to torment the enemy for 20 25 seconds. Whenever the target attacks, casts a spell or ability, a mirror is consumed to inflict (75% 60% of Spell Power) Shadow damage and their movement and cast speed are slowed by 15%. The final mirror will instead inflict (198% 151% of Spell Power) Shadow damage to the enemy, Rooting and Silencing them for 4 seconds. Whenever a mirror is consumed, you gain 4% mana. Fire: Arcane: Conjures 3 mirrors to torment the enemy for 20 25 seconds. Whenever a mirror is consumed your Fire Blast cooldown is reduced by 4 seconds. Frost: Arcane: Conjures 3 mirrors to torment the enemy for 20 25 seconds. Whenever a mirror is consumed you gain Brain Freeze. Fire
Fevered Incantation (Legendary Power) - Each consecutive Critical Strike you deal increases Critical Strike damage you deal by 2% up to 10%.

He's at it again... This time around it's a ridiculous amount of healing, but only outside of Kul Tiras and Zandalar, and only for Alliance players. The main ingredient for this particular crazy stunt is the Gently Squeezed Toad, which you can summon every few seconds, then attack for over a million damage due to the damage aura that makes you deal more damage to low level mobs. And that's it, you just need some amount of leech to get crazy healing very often, with 500K individual heals and around 50-60K HPS with about 30% leech in Rextroy's specific example! The only problem is, this only works for Alliance, as the toy is only sold by Old Loola in the WoD Ally garrison and is BoP, so Horde need not apply.

Check out the full video for the details, especially focusing on the World PvP uses:
Here are more details on the technique, including a useful macro!
