Retribution Sim/pawn questions

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm kinda new to using simcraft and pawn to help with itemization so hopefully you guys can answer some stuff for me. When I run the simcraft addon in WoW and copy the data from the pop up window and paste it into the simcraft program and run it, I take the pawn string from the results and plug it into pawn. Now I know our stat priorities, and I don't know if it's because I've been upgrading from like ~850 ilev pieces and pawn is suggesting upgrades based mostly on the str increase, but my haste has fallen to abysmal levels, like 15%. I'm assuming once I catch up to where upgrades are not so much about straight item level (str) increases, pawn will be suggesting upgrades based on secondary stats. Here's a link to my armory. Thank you for any suggestions.

Im a similar item level to yourself 889, your haste as far as I know should be at least 20%, I'm currently at 26% crit (which i find low), haste 21% and mastery at 28%.  Again your mastery seems really high at 36%.  Have you just concentrated on equipping the highest ilevel items you get?  I have tried to concentrate on haste and crit, but using simcraft it always tells me that my highest stat weight at the moment is mastery and vers.

Don't know how much this helps but thought I'd let you know what ive experienced recently

Basically I've been trusting Pawn. I sim myself a few times a week, especially after getting upgrades because I know that my weights can change slightly at different times. Basically if an item drops, and pawn says it's a significant upgrade (10% or more) I'll equip it. If it's less than 10%, I'll equip both and sim with both to compare. But because I've only been 110 on this toon for maybe a month, a lot of items that drop are a major upgrade, like 20+ ilev and I've been taking those upgrades rather than cherry picking stats. I don't have access to them right now, but according to logs, I generally make 75th or higher percentile for my item level bracket on most fights, so I know I'm basically performing ok, I'm just concerned because the other ret in the guild has like 36% haste and she's acting like I need more, but because I've been listening to pawn for upgrades, my haste has suffered.

Edit: On straight single target fights, I maintain right about 400k-410k as an idea for comparison.

      Hi everyone,
I, like many others, are trying to maximize DPS for their respective classes, mine in particular being ret paladin.
In general, it seems like there are several sources of information for dps for each class.
Icy Veins Mr Robot Raidbots (Simulation Craft) Warcraft Logs Each with its own set of criteria as to what determines high dps. And I find inconsistency when bouncing between the different sources. I want to understand what am I missing when it comes to each. I will lay out what I currently understand, and would like some feedback as to what I may not be considering in each as well as some advice as to what other options I could be exploring (resources) to further the insight into whats applicable for my current state.
      Icy Veins
For Icy Veins, in particular, the stat weights, are mostly vaguely determined. From the ret guide:

If I am reading this right, its Mastery >= Haste > Ver >= Crit = Str
      Mr Robot
I use the addOn and I subscribe for the Best In Bags function. When I plug in my information in, the site recommends that I go with my 2pce t20 and balance around my legendaries with a focus on haste pieces (haste gems are emphasized).
      https://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/simulator/report/a42136294c7f40b2b7ee78023306d786
Stat weights as listed in MrRobot:
      MrRobot Stat Weights
From what I am seeing, Crit is most emphasized, and the one crit gem + ring crit enchants were originally recommended by MrRobot here. Also another notable thing here is haste being way behind crit's potential.
      RaidBots (Simc)
For RaidBots, I use the addOn, and play around with various items I hoard, and use the stat weights functions. Generally the feedback I get here are to stick with the current gem setup and with regards to stat weights, emphasize at my current setup with crit. It also says I should drop some of my high ilvl pieces (935 head, and 960 chest) for 4pce (915 head, lfr 890 chest)
      Gear simc:

      Stat Weights:
      https://www.raidbots.com/simbot/report/6NkVYwEaTW26FxD4wBwey4
      Vers -> crit -> mastery -> haste -> str
      (versitality first?)
      Warcraft Logs
I mostly use Warcraft Logs to check what the top dps players (ret pallys) are hitting and what setups are they running. I don't want to specifically link player armories in here, but upon some investigation, you'll find most are just stacking haste
      ---
I understand stat weights are relative, however it seems like everyone has different priorities, one says mastery, another vers, another crit, another haste?
      Help me understand.
      Thanks,
      Exploit

When I started playing again after several years off, I chose the wrong weapon/artifact chain for my Ret Paladin.  I choose Truthguard instead of Ashbringer.  So I am at 105 with Truthguard now and I was told by Bliz several levels ago that I could swap weapons at some point although I was not told how or when. I don't use Truthguard in play now just a normal weapon and seem to do ok. What must I do?
From Blizzard -  "I understand you are contacting us about your starting artifact weapon! I know it would be frustrating wanting to use Retribution and the Ashbringer and getting the Truth Guard by mistake. I made this same mistake on my Shaman. I was anxious to get the Doom Hammer and didn’t realize I was required to use the Enhancement spec. I do have some information to share with you.
The bad news is, once an artifact is selected, there’s no changing that. Luckily, you’re not stuck with this forever. You’ll need to go through some of the story line with the Truth Guard, but once you hit level 102, you’ll be presented with the option to pick up the other 2 artifact weapons. From there you will be able to use any one you’d like. ^_^"

Can anyone provide a sim sheet, so I can see the DPS differences between legendaries in combination, like:
Waist and Back = ??? DPS
Shoulders and Back = ??? DPS
Shoulders and Waist = ??? DPS
Reason is, I have Shoulders and Back, but I'm curious to see what a Back and Waist combo DPS would be in comparison. Wanting to know if the numbers are small or large.

      Howdy howdy!

Requisite armory link: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/aggramar/Mayo/simple Requisite most recent parse: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/rankings/character/93755/latest Am I following the Icy Veins rotation? Yup, for the most part, unless I have a brain fart. With that out of the way, I want to start by saying that I’m not unsatisfied by my DPS, but I know that I can do more / do better.
I’ve got two of the best legendaries (Ashes to Dust & Chain of Thrayn), two of what I think are the best trinkets. I’ve got the Claw of the Crystalline Scorpid (880) and the Entwined Elemental Foci (890) but don’t use them currently because my sims are showing Convergence of Fates (895) & Might of Krosus (895) being ~7-10k higher, but I’m very open to hearing if maybe the sims aren’t as accurate as I’d like to think they are.
I’m just... stuck on how to get there. I was hoping that I could get some sage advice from other paladins in here.
All of your thoughts are most appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Mayo
