i appreciate the "invasion can typically get you one level" (slightly paraphrased) part. I'm typically a raging altaholic but I can't bring myself to level this time around. I think its the whole nature of the world quests, you are literally doing the story quests 1000 times but when doing it on an alt you just can't blow up half of the map and be on your way. it takes more time.

so hopefully this knowledge will help me tend to my neglected alts XD.

Having invasion leveled 3 characters now one important thing to note is that mobs scale with level but your gear is staying the same which gets....painful on non pet classes after a while.

There is something that might be confusing on the order of your post without clarification.

For your first character surpassing 25, you have to do the Quest line to unlock 26-40.  On any other Alt, you can just skip straight to 40.

Have done this myself on some of my Alts, but the ordering of how to deal with AK for Returning/Alts does not clarify this fact for others.

I'm not sure about invasions being the fastest way to level.  I mean sure it gets you about a level every time, however, in the course of a day I can get from 100 to 110 without invasions, having 9 110's trust me... I've done it both ways, with invasions, without, invasions only, and only leveling in spare time.  To me the truly fastest way is just to put on some music put your head down and just grind through it invasions or not.  Although, the extra nethershards are nice for when you hit 110.

So after doing some math if you don't sleep and click the button to start your next AK level it will take you approximately 53 hours and 42 minutes (my minute to decimal conversion is probably terribly off please feel free to correct me)  That's clicking straight through, without sleep, being at the AK trainer at exactly the moment you can start the next one.  So I'd say it'll take the average player to get from 26-40 in approximately 4 to 5 days, maybe even a week for the more casual returning players.  I still personally disagree with this, however, you can see my disagreements in a different post.

For returning players taking advantage of the reduced AK research time I would very STRONGLY suggest using the Legion Companion App.  Just set a clock timer for 3 hours and 35 minutes while you're not logged in and just hop in the app grab the AK start the next one.

I get that Blizzard currently doesn't want us wearing more than two legendaries because of the power spike it can cause, however, with the amount of legendaries in this expansion and the fact that they are just random drops from chests, bosses, and other things it's kind of taking the fun/achievement from obtaining them.  I mean you go from "OMGOMGOMOGMGOMGOMGOMGOMG LEGENDARIEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS YAYAY I FINALLY DID IT."  to "oh cool another legendary I wonder where it ranks compared to my others."

I'm a bit concerned that they went over the top on some things trying to compensate for past low points.  All in all they are doing quite a job preparing for returning players and alts.

I thought this explained it pretty well.  The way you worded it about skipping straight to 40 on an alt is a bit confusing and misleading if people don't understand that it requires what Stan said of reaching AK 40 on your main first.

"Legendary" - It's beginning to look more like a item icon color change than a rarity identifier.

Exactly... IMO it went down hill from MoP and on.... They should have made "ancient epics" or whatever, and i would have been so much happier... Last legit legendary was the rogue daggers from dragon soul.

so as they have added

if you run invasions until 110 then upgrade AK to 40, you can go back through all the zones and get maximized AP from all the zone quests and have you weapon maxed in no time.

i did this with a recent 100-110 booted and maxed AP within a few hours of getting to 110. so make sure to do the broken shores quest line to open up the new AP weapon system

Uldir Race Day 8: 4.1% G'huun Lives to the Second Week - Method get the boss down to 4.1%, Limit may have extended their lockout and we get World First and second Mythrax kill videos.

Uldir Race Day 5: Limit World First 7/8 - Limit head to the top and take a strong lead with their Mythrax the Unraveler World FIrst.
Uldir Race Day 4: Zul Down, 6/8 by EU and US - Method get the World First on Zul, Reborn and Limit catch up to them quickly.
Uldir WF Race Day 3: US 5/8, Devourer Down - Limit grab the World First after some more hotfix nerfs to Fetid Devourer.
Uldir Mythic WF Race Day 2: Fetid Devourer Endboss - EU guilds catch up but no one can get past the 5th boss, Fetid Devourer and 8 guilds are stuck at 4/8.  Uldir Mythic WF Race Day 1: 4 Bosses Down - Big Dumb Guild and Limit get 4 bosses down before EU servers come up, Blizzard nerfs Fetid Devourer and we get to see three WF kill videos. ____________________________________________________________________
The gates of Mythic Uldir have opened and the US and OC servers are coming up after maintenance. Now it remains to be seen who will go in early and grab those World Firsts before the EU an Asian guilds have had a chance to enter the first raid of Battle for Azeroth. As always, we'll have summary posts for each day early in the EU morning.
Of the possible contenders on the US/OC scene we have Wildcard Gaming, formerly Easy, who have already taken a WF in Heroic, with their G'huun kill, and seem eager to get their new name heard, so they might just be the leading US guild. On the other hand, Limit has been a dominant presence in the US/OC scene for a long time now, grabbing most WFs and being the only real competition to the EU and Asian guilds in the endgame. We also have SNF and Big Dumb Guild who have gotten some World Firsts in the past, and have been known to raid early, so the competition for those first few kills should be high. Blood Legion also seem to have returned after a long hiatus, as they will be raiding "semi-competitively" in BfA, but it remains to be seen what exactly that means.
As always, we'll be using Method's raid progress coverage for our own summaries and you can head on over to their site to follow the race live, both today with the usual updates and tomorrow with the guild itself streaming the race live. For other streams of the progress race, head on over to twitch's WoW page and you'll be sure to find tons of players showing off their journey through Uldir.
We'll also be using this article as a hub for all the race summary posts.

The race is about to begin and you can check out all of our coverage right here.

A lot of Azerite trait talk today as Blizzard have announced a second round of tuning, focusing on tanks and healers, coming with the next reset. We also got a blue post commenting on the imbalance in the traits and the Mythic+ problem with Azerite armor not being available.

There's also some PvP class tuning coming next week which you can check out here.
      Trait Tuning (source)
With scheduled maintenance next week, we intend to make some targeted adjustments to Azerite Traits for tanks and healers. Here's what that currently looks like:
Blessed Sanctuary bonus increased by 10%. Burst of Life healing increased by 20%. Craggy Bark bonus increased by 15%. Dauntless Divinity block increased by 20%. Depth of the Shadows healing increased by 20%. Ephemeral Recovery mana increased by 15%. Gory Regeneration healing increase increased by 15%. Judicious Defense absorption increased by 10%. Masterful Instincts bonuses increased by 10%. Permeating Glow bonus increased by 15%. Reinforced Plating Strength increased by 10%. Revel in Pain absorption increased by 20%. Savior trigger threshold increased to 50% health (was 35%). Soothing Waters healing increased by 10%.
You'll see the final adjustments in our hotfixes update post on Tuesday.

      Trait imbalance and M+ (source)
      Couple things:
We agree that the trait imbalance is a real problem right now. We made a bunch of tuning adjustments last week, and have more planned for the very near future (primarily focused on buffing underperforming traits). We see this as the source of most of the frustrations with the system; if the delta between your best and worst traits wasn't so big, it'd be less frustrating when a piece of Azerite armor doesn't have your best trait on it.
We also agree that the Mythic+ Azerite Armor situation isn't ideal. However, we need to be careful with how we award Azerite Armor through M+. Right now, easier access to Azerite Armor is one of the main advantages that raiding has over gearing exclusively through Mythic+, and we want to keep some additional benefit there as compensation for the extra effort and coordination needed to organize a raid team. That's is why we're hesitant to do something like add a guaranteed piece of Azerite Armor to the weekly chest - it'd be too lucrative.
But like I said, we do agree that the current setup can be frustrating. We're looking for better options.
