wow Patch 7.3: Artifact Knowledge Changes

In Patch 7.3, the Artifact Knowledge cap was increased back to level 50 and you no longer need to head back to your Order Hall for research.

Instead, you will automatically gain 1 AK level each week and all characters will start with Artifact Knowledge Level 41 when Patch 7.3 goes live. The focus in 7.3 shifts to the Netherlight Crucible and relic customization (Insignia of the Grand Army).

The multipliers are the same as they were when AK Level 50 was introduced back in 7.2's Build 23657.

I'm not sure what's meant by "relic talents", it is confirmed that you can now "customize" relics at an object called the Netherlight Crucible, what this entails specifically is unknown but it is likely that you can simply alter what traits it buffs. There are "crafting" materials for the Crucible called "Essence of Shadow" and "Essence of Light", likely used to fuel these relic "customizations". There's even a Legendary ring introduced in 7.3 that will increase the amount of those Essences you get by 50%.

 

This is - as far as I know - all the information we have regarding this new Netherlight Crucible feature.

 

To debunk what Stan said, there's actually a string in the ptr data that says:

ARTIFACT_RELIC_TALENT_AVAILABLE

A new trait is available at the Netherlight Crucible.

Rank 50 is simply 10x the amount of AP as rank 40. The AP elite mission token would only give you 1.25 billion AP, rather then the current 125 million. You need 200 TRILLION AP to get THE last trait - Not the entirety of Concordance, but the last trait itself. Thus, the AP elite mission token gives you .01% of the AP you need towards the last trait of Concordance. The entirety of Concordance is, what was it, 800ish trillion?

 

I think the figures was that even with rank 50, you would need several years in order to reach 50/50 Concordance. 30/50 is a more realistic goal with AK 50 though.

I don't mean to be Mrs Misery but, as someone with a lot of alts who has had to change my playstyle to keep up with the content, doesn't this  (lvl 41 AP instantly) make all the previous effort meaningless? I'm wishing I had just got mine to lvl 110 and left them to be honest.

I mean, the game has been out for a year. I don't think raising AK has been useless. This is the same as saying that you might as well level and never do any raids or dungeons, because you can wait 10-14 months and use the end of expansion catch-up mechanic with gear.
