As we already know the latest PTR brings us none other than Doomfist, but what else has it got in store for us? There's a lot of stuff from the previous PTR like the loot box changes and highlights additions, but we also get a lot more bug fixes for heroes, maps, competitive play and more.

PATCH HIGHLIGHTS

New Hero: Doomfist (Offense):

Equipped with charisma and ambition, Doomfist is a consummate tactician and one of the leaders of Talon: literally throwing down his gauntlet as he joins the fight. From his base in Nigeria, Doomfist is a commanding offense hero equipped with hard-hitting melee abilities. Driven by a belief that conflict is essential to humanity’s progress, he’s committed to advancing his vision of the future—even if the agents of Overwatch disagree with his methods.

Doomfist’s cybernetics make him a highly mobile, powerful frontline fighter. His primary attack is the Hand Cannon; this four-shot weapon fires projectiles from Doomfist’s knuckles one a time or in a single blast. With his secondary attack, Rocket Punch, he charges forward and delivers a devastating blow, knocking back any opponent it connects with and dealing extra damage if the enemy is hurled into a wall.

Seismic Slam smashes into a targeted area, knocking opponents toward him so he can deal further damage. His Rising Uppercut tosses enemies high into the air, while his passive ability, The Best Defense…, grants him shields every time he uses one of his abilities against an opponent. Lastly, his ultimate ability, Meteor Strike, causes him to leap high and drop into a targeted area, dealing massive amounts of damage.

Loot Box Updates

We always want the experience of opening a loot box to feel exciting and rewarding, and in our latest patch, we’re working to improve that experience in two key ways. First, we’re drastically reducing the amount of duplicates you will receive when opening loot boxes. Second, to compensate for this reduction of duplicate items, we’re also increasing the overall amount of credits you will receive from loot boxes. On average, you should be earning just as many credits, if not slightly more, from loot boxes as you did prior to these changes.

To help us test this update, all players who log in to the PTR this patch cycle will receive five (5) PTR Loot Boxes. These are standard loot boxes that will only be available on the PTR. Any items earned from loot boxes or unlocked via credits on the PTR will not transfer over to your live account.

New Highlight Options

Our highlights system has received several major updates:

  • The game will continue to automatically generate highlights for you based on your recent gameplay. These auto-generated highlights—now categorized as “Today’s Top 5”—will be surfaced on a daily basis and persist for a full 24 hours (or until the game client is patched, whichever happens first).
  • Players can now generate their own highlights! The ability to capture 12 seconds of your own gameplay has been added to the game, and can be bound to a single button of your choice (or a button per highlight slot) in the Options menu under “Request Highlight.” These player-generated highlights will be saved under a new section called “Recently Captured” and will persist until the game client is patched. Players can have up to 36 recently-captured highlights stored at one time.
  • With the above, players can now record any of their “Top 5” or “Recently Captured” highlights, exporting them as a video file to their gaming platform’s designated media library (on console) or directory (on PC). On PC, players will also have the option to select the quality at which these highlights are exported, supporting up to 4K at 60 FPS for Windows 8 or higher operating systems, and up to 1080p on Windows 7.

Winter is coming to Overwatch later today and we have 4 more skin reveals from the past few days, with some pretty amazing ones in there! The most recent (and probably best) addition is Junkrat Krampus, who just might set some (monogrammed) traps in a few chimneys, so Santa better look out:
Next we have two slightly less complex ones, but still pretty impressive, with Figure Skater Symmetra and Biathlon Widow:
And finally we have a great one, with Mercy becoming even sweeter as Sugar Plum Fairy Mercy:

The event starts tomorrow and lasts through January 2nd, so get ready for some wonder!

It's the holiday season in all Blizzard games and Overwatch is no exception, as Winter Wonderland returns next week, starting on December 11th! We're (at the very least) getting the usual two modes: Mei's Snowball Offensive and Yeti Hunt, as well as new cosmetics and some holiday themed maps, including the new Blizzard World:
The event lasts until January 2nd and we already have previews for two new skins, featuring Zarya and Lucio, with a decidedly furry look:
As usual with these returning events, we'll also be able to get last years' skins from loot boxes, as well as buy them at slightly cheaper prices. Here are some of the previous years' skins:

No new PTR patch this time around, but we are getting two character changes. Brigitte is still too good it seems, as another round of nerfs has arrived on the PTR, all but removing the damage of Shield Bash, but she also gets a slightly improved Inspire passive, with reduced cooldown, increased duration and healing. Doomfist also gets a mixed bag, with Seismic Slam losing more of it's CC ability, while Meteor Strike getting some inner/outer ring damage changes.
      PTR (source)
This post is to track further updates to the PTR as we make them. The following changes are planned for a PTR patch that will probably come on Monday.
      Brigitte
Shield Bash Damage reduced from 50 to 5 Inspire Passive Cooldown reduced from 1.5s to 1.0s Duration increased from 5s to 6s Total healing increased from 80 to 100 Dev Notes: Reduces Shield Bash’s damage reduces her total stun combo damage potential while still allowing Whip Shot and her basic melee attacks to retain their full strength. Brigitte is a hybrid tank/healer, and lately we’ve been reducing her effectiveness by reducing the power of her non-healing functionality, but we want to make sure she is still a viable pick so we’re increasing the uptime of her Inspire passive to help increase her overall healing output.
      Doomfist
Seismic Slam Victims no longer lose air control while being pulled in. Meteor Strike Inner ring damage radius increased from 1.5m to 2.0m. This is the ring where Meteor Strike deals its full 300 damage. Max damage outside of inner ring decreased from 300 to 200. This is the ring where damage falloff happens, which still reduces the damage down to 15 at max range. Dev Notes: The PTR Doomfist changes are all about trying to give his enemies more opportunities to effectively fight back, and these changes are no exception. The Meteor Strike changes will make it harder to secure a “free” kill on heroes without mobility such as Zenyatta or Ana, while still preserving its max potential damage when aimed well or when combined with other abilities such as Graviton Surge or Sleep Dart.
Overall we’re looking carefully at the amount of crowd control abilities (such as stuns and knockbacks that remove air control) and seeing if we can remove or reduce some of the effectiveness of some of these. Any further changes to this PTR will be posted in this thread as well.

There's a whole lot of Hero changes in today's PTR patch, as well as a new option for Windows Spatial Audio and the usual bug fixes. Only two nerfs this time, but the first one's a biggie, with Brigitte no longer being able to stun through barriers with Shield Bash, making Reinhardts everywhere rejoice! The other nerf comes courtesy of Doomfist as his Seismic Slam range has been reduced, but at least he also got a buff to Rising Uppercut. Everything else is buffs all round, as Bastion, McCree and Torbjorn get some upgrades.
      PTR November 14 (source)
      GENERAL UPDATES
      Audio
[PC] An option to use Windows Spatial Audio is now available. This feature can be found in the Windows Start Menu under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Speaker Device > Spatial Sound Developer Comments: Since launch, we’ve supported Dolby Atmos for players who use headphones, and we’re now expanding this support to include the Windows 10 implementation for spatial audio. Spatial audio is configured in the Windows 10 sound settings and will take priority over the settings in the game client. This will allow for more options, including settings for Windows Sonic Headphones, Dolby Atmos for Headphones, and Dolby Atmos for Home Theater.
      HERO UPDATES
      Bastion
Configuration: Recon Ammo increased from 25 to 35 Configuration: Sentry Weapon spread decreased by up to 33% while firing Developer Comments: Bastion could use a little bit of an offensive boost to balance out how vulnerable Configuration: Recon’s bulky size and Sentry’s stationary nature make it. To address this, we increased the ammo he receives in Recon mode and gave Bastion a lower spread in Sentry mode to make it more effective at farther ranges than it was previously.
      Brigitte
Shield Bash No longer can travel or stun targets through barriers Developer Comments: Brigitte’s Shield Bash is a strong ability that often feels difficult to counter. This change will offer new options for counter play, enabling shield tanks to better protect themselves and their teammates.
      Doomfist
Rising Uppercut Loss of air control duration lowered to 0.6 seconds from 3 seconds Seismic Slam Maximum range reduced from 20 meters to 15 meters Developer Comments: Doomfist’s high mobility allows him to engage and disengage from extremely long ranges. Decreasing the range of his targeted aerial version of Seismic Slam requires him to get closer before engaging an enemy and makes it slightly harder for him to escape from combat. The loss of air control on Rising Uppercut was a frustrating mechanic for players, but it allowed Doomfist to set up combos. We’ve found a decent middle ground by limiting the time Doomfist has to line up his next move.
      McCree
Peacekeeper Alternate fire damage increased from 45 to 55 Developer Comments: McCree’s Fan the Hammer wasn’t as reliable of an option against higher health heroes as it should be. Increasing its damage will make it more potent in close-range engagements where it is intended to be most effective.
      Torbjörn
Molten Core Damage increased from 130 to 160 per second Developer Comments: While the Molten Core damage pools were intended to provide players with tools for area denial, they weren’t proving threatening enough to deter enemies for a significant amount of time because their damage was too low.
      BUG FIXES
      Heroes
      General
Fixed a bug that prevented a landing exertion visual effect from playing when a hero impacted a slippery surface before landing Fixed issues that could cause the client to miscalculate projectiles Fixed an issue caused enemy players to appear to have jittery movement at framerates over 100 Ashe
Fixed a bug that caused Ashe’s Dynamite to create a second small explosion visual effect a few moments after the first explosion Bastion
Fixed a bug that caused Bastion’s Tank mode treads to continue moving while stunned during Configuration: Tank Fixed a bug that caused Bastion’s colored outline to include squares floating above him while in Configuration: Tank D.Va
Fixed a bug with the Lying Around Highlight Intro that caused Cruiser D.Va’s hair to clip into the mech McCree
Fixed a bug that caused McCree’s Deadeye’s animation and sound effects to play twice if it was canceled quickly Reinhardt
Fixed a bug that prevented Reinhardt’s Earthshatter from traveling over certain terrain Sombra
Fixed a bug that caused Sombra to hear the detect sound effect when entering stealth or teleporting Symmetra
Fixed a bug that caused additional sound effects to play while viewing Symmetra’s Creation victory pose in the Hero Gallery Fixed a bug with Symmetra’s teleporter where it would play its self-destruct sound effects when viewed in the Hero Gallery Widowmaker
Fixed a bug that allowed Widowmaker’s Venom Mine to reveal enemy barriers through walls Maps
      Control
Fixed a bug that caused the Assemble Heroes countdown timer to remain at 29 seconds UI
      Colorblind Options
Fixed a bug that caused a player’s UI to appear as the enemy color during FFA Deathmatch games Fixed a bug that prevented colorblind set team colors from appearing on the tab and victory screens
