Patch 7.3: Validated Doomsayers Event

Recommended Posts

WbSke5P.jpg

In the latest 7.3 PTR build, Validated Doomsayers now appear in Dalaran giving players various pamphlets heralding Azeroth's demise, citizens are dazed, can't be cured or talk gibberish.

The event is very similar to Cataclysm and those creatures are obviously a Hearthstone reference (Validated Doomsayer). Concerned and Scared Citizens are curious about what's going on. Terrified Citizens are affected by fear (FrightenedFrightened), other citizens do not feel well (Inexplicable FeelingInexplicable Feeling).

Some interesting conversations from Dalaran:

Validated Doomsayer yells: The Light has forsaken us!

Validated Doomsayer yells: Our time ends, the cleansing is nigh!

Dalaran Citizen says: They say it's all in your head, but this... this is different. I swear!

Olisarra the Kind says: Pretty soon, we'll have to send people off site for help. I just don't think we have the resources here to maintain any semblance of order.

Dalaran Citizen says: Is it normal to see stars?

Are these the same pamphlets that could award an achievement just prior to the launch of Legion if you got all of them?

No, they are new.

for 7.3?  I wonder what the tie in is?

Just having Argus in the sky I suppose would be enough to destroy many peoples' semblance of safety.

It's probably tied to the new Magni quest Whispers of a Frightened World that went live in yesterday's build. Maybe we're looking at the 7.3 pre-launch event.

Tl;dr:

  • You travel to Scholazar to complete a short scenario and hear what Azeroth has to say
  • At the console you find out that your destiny awaits on Argus.

It should have put pretty much the entire continent underwater (again).

It had so much promise...  Ended up being confusing and still really linear.  so much unused space.

Yeah, it could have been something amazing. As it was implemented, though, I absolutely hated it. To the point of doing it once for loremaster at 85 and never, ever returning on any character.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.
      (Source)
      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
