Argus Waystone and Veiled Argunite Hotfix

Recommended Posts

Update: There's a new blue post detailing the decision even more and giving an estimated time the hotfix will go live to September 12th.

Blizzard LogoKaivax (source)

We have a hotfix in the works to the way Argus Waystones work for the weekly quest, Invasion Onslaught. This will likely be live with your weekly resets next week (if all goes well).

Early in 7.3 PTR, Argus Waystones were a requirement to enter Greater Invasion Points. We removed that requirement after hearing great feedback on it in PTR testing, but retained the waystones for Invasion Onslaught. Now we’ve seen that after Invasion Points opened up, players have a lot of these stones left over with nothing to spend them on.

Therefore, the weekly quest Invasion Onslaught will be changed from 'collect 15 Argus Waystones' to 'complete 3 Invasion Points'. Argus Waystones will no longer be obtainable in the game, and any Argus Waystones on your character will be automatically converted into Veiled Argunite.

We hope this simplifies the quest and also stops our over-achieving ethereal currency collector from spamming your mailbox each day.

Again, we're working to hotfix this with weekly resets in each region starting on September 12.

Thank you for the feedback!

There's a new hotfix coming up soon related to the dissatisfaction a lot of players have voiced over the Argus Waystones - more specifically their cap. It seems Blizzard decided just upping it wasn't really the best solution and decided to scrap the currency altogether. They also went ahead and raised the cap for Veiled Argunite to 2000 from 1500!

You can check out our Invasion Point guide if you're not sure what exactly all this means or haven't gotten around to doing them yet.

Hey all,

I wanted to give you a heads up that we are currently testing a hotfix aimed at addressing some player concerns with Argus Waystones and Invasion Points.

First, will be removing the Argus Waystone currency entirely. Players who currently have Argus Waystones will be compensated with a small amount of Veiled Argunite.

The weekly quests that previously required Argus Waystones will now require players to simply complete three Invasion Points.

We will also be increasing the cap on Veiled Argunite to 2,000 from 1,500, to make sure there are no issues with any of these changes - this will also act as a small quality of life increase for those of you seeing yourselves at the currency cap.

Thanks for all your feedback so far on Invasion Points, and we'll see you on Argus!

I honestly was hoping that they would add another vendor for the waystones, but none the less I love that they're compensating us for the currency is nice and all, but "" Players who currently have Argus Waystones will be compensated with a small amount of Veiled Argunite"  Small amount is a little disheartening, considering most of us farmed the waystones . so hopefully the turn around is good!

at least it's nice to know that I don't have to track five types of currency afterall.

I think waystones was total unnecessary idea at all as one more currency, so i'm happy to hear this will be removed. And about exchange.. ("..Small amount is a little disheartening, considering most of us farmed the waystones . so hopefully the turn around is good!...") it was just by-product of farming Veiled Argunite at Invasion Points.

Will everyone be capped out at compensation for 40 stones, I wonder? Or will all those ones that we farmed in our mailbox and then deleted get compensated for to?

DITTO.

Would have made more sense as just a quest item to complete weekly, imo.  But then just do 'quantity of invasions completed' like they are doing now and solve another item to track.

This is a good change.

Definitely. There was never a reason for them not to do this from the start, but at least we've got it now.

A new patch went live recently on the Beta, so we're breaking it down today to highlight what's new and we'll start with items, namely the new Heirloom set called Regalia of the Fabled Adventurers and its set bonuses.
Although the system has not been fully implemented yet on the Beta, Blizzard added new Heirlooms with the previously-mentioned set bonuses to the game.
The new Heirloom set is called Regalia of the Fabled Adventurers and consists of 7 armor pieces:
Heirloom Chestpiece Heirloom Cloak Heirloom Helm Heirloom Legs Heirloom Necklace Heirloom Ring Heirloom Shoulders Set Bonuses
2-Piece Set Bonus: Maximizing Rests - Rested experience consumed 30% slower. 3-Piece Set Bonus: Battlefield Resourcefulness - Increases your out-of-combat regeneration in the outdoors, normal dungeons and battlegrounds. 4-Piece Set Bonus: Flash of Brilliance - Gaining a level triggers Burst of Knowledge, dealing 2,167 Holy damage to nearby enemies and granting you 40% Primary Stat for 2 min. Defeating additional enemies can extend this effect. 6-Piece Set Bonus: Maximizing Rests - Rested experience consumed an additional 30% slower. Other Heirloom items added on the Beta include the following items that have no effects/stats thus far:
Heirloom Ring Heirloom Trinket Heirloom Trinket You can find more details about all leveling changes coming in Shadowlands in our guide.

The Great Vault aka the new weekly chest had received a lot of criticism lately, specifically for its Mythic+ and PvP requirements. In its previous iteration, while ranks 1 and 2 seemed fine, you had to successfully complete 15 M+ runs to get the 3rd rank, compared to 10 raid bosses downed and a measly 250 Conquest Points.

In today's beta build these numbers have been heavily modified, as the M+ ranks have become easier, while the PvP ones much harder:
      Mythic+:
      Rank 1: 1 M+ (unchanged) Rank 2:  4 M+ (1 less) Rank 3: 10 M+ (5 less) PvP:
      Rank 1: 125 Conquest (25 more) Rank 2: 350 Conquest (200 more) Rank 3: 875 Conquest (625 more) Raids:
Unchanged And so unlocking the third choice from M+ has become much easier, while all three in PvP are harder, with the third being a lot more demanding. Also remember, these are just additional choices, you will still only receive 1 piece of loot per week.

Today's beta update brings the character wipe, a workaround for the DK, DH and Allied Race creation issues, some DHs might have facial feature issues and the recently announced heirloom changes are not yet implemented.
      August 5 (source)
The character wipe is complete, the Beta has been updated to the latest build, and testers can now resume.
      Known Issues
On first logging in, testers will not be able to make a Death Knight, Demon Hunter, or Allied Races character. Until this is fixed, you can make a level 50 template, log in to that character, and then log out. You should have full access to create any classes or race. After doing a character copy, you should begin with the quest “A Chilling Summons” to avoid potential difficulties. Some Demon Hunter player-characters may have missing facial features. This may be fixable by going to a barber shop and changing your tattoos. Forthcoming adjustments to heirloom bonuses are not yet implemented.

We just found out the new heirloom set bonuses, and while they did seem a little lackluster, we couldn't quite be sure of their effectiveness. So we decided to go to the reigning expert on all things leveling, the 49-max-level-warrior having, speed leveling, charity-supporting, 4-hour to level 50 in Shadowlands madman, DesMephisto, to find out what was really going on here. He took a look at the bonuses and evaluated their usefulness, as well as suggested some alternatives of his own, so let's see what he has to say:
You can always catch DesMephisto over on his twitch, and he's having two special charity events this weekend (Saturday for Horde, Sunday for Alliance from 3PM PST to 5PM PST - for AOTC this week we're gonna start supporting Autistic Self Advocacy Network) as well as some possible mount giveaways with help from Jaina Buddies!

The WoW Engineering Team is celebrating a special milestone today, as they committed the millionth change to the World of Warcraft code repository!
      (Source)
      Hello!
The WoW Engineering Team would like to celebrate a special milestone with you.
First, here’s some quick background. Whenever we want to make a change, implement a feature, or fix a bug in the World of Warcraft code, we author the change on our local computer, have it reviewed by our peers, then commit the change to the World of Warcraft code repository. Each commit is given a sequential and unique ID, which allows it to be referenced and tracked as it works its way into an expansion, patch, or hotfix. These IDs have been increasing, from the number 1, since the moment the very first lines of code were committed to the fledgling game project that would eventually become World of Warcraft.
We are excited to share that we recently committed the 1,000,000th change to the WoW codebase! In addition to being an awesome decimal landmark, this puts us within striking distance (only 48,576 commits away) of being able to report WoW’s total code changes in mega-commits *.
(* This is almost certainly a made-up measurement that no one uses for source code repositories.)
As we celebrate our millionth commit, we can’t help but reflect a bit. For all of us, being an engineer on World of Warcraft is the best job on Earth. It combines the challenges of a massive, highly complex, and ever evolving software project with the creativity, whimsy, and magic that is bringing a world to life.
It’s because of you that we’ve had the privilege of calling Azeroth home for over 473 billion milliseconds. We are honored and humbled by your support, your stories, and your feedback, and we can’t wait to see what the next million commits have in store for us.
      For Azeroth!
