Patch 7.3.2 Legion Legendary Items Guide

In Patch 7.3.2, Legendary items can be upgraded to item level 1,000. Blizzard also added Legendary tokens and a ring that empowers traits from the Netherlight Crucible.

Upgrading Legendary Items

In Patch 7.3.2 Legendary items can be upgraded to item level 1,000. The Cursed Shard quest is started by looting Cursed ShardCursed Shard. The item has a variety of sources. It can drop in LFR or you can get it by doing the first Random Heroic Dungeon of the day. Once you bring it to Arcanomancer Vridiel in Dalaran, you will get 10 Wakening Essences. Collect 50 Wakening Essences to get Awoken Titan EssenceAwoken Titan Essence and upgrade a Legendary item to 1,000.

Sources

The Kirin Tor emissary bag did not reward any essences on PTR, but this can be random and needs further confirmation. Maybe they can only be collected from Argus faction bags. Antorus bosses drop a random amount of essences. Garothi Worldbreaker dropped 4 in LFR.

New Legendary Items

Two Legendary item will be added in Patch 7.3.2. The legendary ring will be available to players that defeat Argus the Unmaker on Normal difficulty or higher and the trinket is a drop from Argus the Unmaker. The ring's affix increases the effects of Light and Shadow powers from the Netherlight Crucible by 50%. You can find more information in our Netherlight Crucible guide.

Recently, Blizzard updated one of the Path of the Titans trinkets (Aman'Thul's WisdomAman'Thul's Vision) to item level 1,000 and now it is a Legendary item that does not count toward the 2 Legendary cap. Path of the Titans trinkets can be upgraded with Pantheon's BlessingPantheon's Blessing up to item level 1,000, so we're not sure yet, if all trinkets will be of Legendary quality after upgrading them to the maximum item level. Your spells and abilities have a chance to grant you 6,716 Speed, Avoidance, and Leech for 12 sec.

When empowered by the Pantheon, your Intellect is increased by 6,700 for 15 sec.

Drops from Argus the Unmaker. The item is not listed in the standard Legendary loot tables.
Insignia of the Grand ArmyInsignia of the Grand Army Increase the effects of Light and Shadow powers granted by the Netherlight Crucible by 50%. The Death of a Titan (Quest) - Defeat Argus the Unmaker on Normal difficulty or higher.

Legendary Tokens

Patch 7.3.2 adds new Legendary tokens to help keep gameplay on your main rewarding. Legendary tokens will start dropping when you collect ALL Legendary items on your class, in other words, on your main. Collecting ALL Legendary items designated for a single specialization won't suffice. Legendary tokens are BoA, so they can be sent to your alts (even when they are on a different realm). Use them to discover a random Legendary item.

FAQ

  • You can start collecting Wakening Essences right away when Antorus opens. You don't need to loot Cursed ShardCursed Shard or accept any quests first.
  • All Legendary items that drop after Antorus opens will have item level 1,000.
  • All crafted Legendary items will be of item level 1,000 by default when Antorus opens.
  • Awoken Titan EssenceAwoken Titan Essence is used to upgrade a single Legendary item to item level 1,000. You need to collect more Wakening Essences in order to upgrade additional Legendary items.
  • Legendary tokens won't drop unless you collect ALL legendary items on your class.
  • Blizzard mentioned in the latest Q/A that the team is closely monitoring the drop rate of Legendary items. Two legendaries are a standard for raiding, so they may increase the drop rate of the first few Legendary items on a character.
  • At the moment, Blizzard has no plans to increase the Legendary item cap to 3.

You can change loot spec without playing disc.
 

I am more curious as to how the tokens "transform". Let's say I have all legendaries for my DH and a token just dropped. Will it be a random class token that never changes or wIll it be a DH token that automatically changes into a DK token when I mail it to my DK alt?

It will still take forever though, especially with all-class/all-spec legendaries pushing down the drop rate. :(

My understanding is that it's the former.

The tokens are really pointless to work towards to, don't bother. They are for people who already have a main that has all legendaries for their class.

If you have an alt you really want legendaries for, you would be better served by just playing that alt directly.

Ouch..that seems kind of counter-intuitive, giving players a semblance of control through a random token...
Oh well, I suppose I don't have to worry about it, coz my main is a druid (4 specs to go through)  lolz~

Its not designed for that. Its literally just a way for players who have maintained the same main for the entire expansion to still get legendary rewards for playing without feeling like their time is wasted on their main.

So another shit addition to an already shit system. Marvelous.

I care much more about most alt legendaries than I do the legendaries for my never-played specs such as tank.

Great news about essence, it will easy to farm it and boost that 2-3 legendaries what is the most important for raiding.

About tokens.. this is ridicoulos. I play on my new account since august, i have 450 hrs played gametime on my main warlock, what is i think a lot, and still don't have all legendaries for my main affliction spec after i do all emissary, clearing every week all actual and old content. So really?! I'm really hope this is not a final concept.

Lol, can't even imagine that. You get this token for a class you don't even have. You level it up only to find out that you got a bad utility Legendary :D.

Why so much hate for the legendary tokens?
I barely do anything and already have one legendary left to get on my main, those tokens are also still not coming right now. I get a legendary every ~1,5 weeks, which means I am gonna be more then ready to get the rest even before antorus...and as said, I am doing MUCH less than I SHOULD be doing, considering trying to get better in myth progress.
When it comes to "now I need to play [other specc] to get the rest".....no you don't.
You don't even need to change your lootspecc. When you have all legendaries for one specc, you just get the other specc legendaries when a new one drops, happened multiple times now.
(e.g. outlaw back and bracers when specced and lootspecced subtlety)

They are adding a feature to give your twinks legendaries...and there's still people complaining...

People are complaining because you MUST HAVE ALL LEGENDARIES FOR YOUR CLASS before these tokens will ever start dropping, which in my opinion, is a terrible idea. Just let them drop randomly like Unsullied tokens, albeit, at a MUCH lower rate. Problem fixed. Why Blizzard has to make everything as frustrating as possible is beyond me...

We complain because they do not fix the alt/new/returning player legendaries problem , it fixes a problem that doesn't even exist. A guy that has every single legendary on a character like you do is already playing a ton of hours so he won't really care that he needs to farm 2 legendaries to have another alt ready for raiding. A new/returning or casual player with alts though still needs to play RNG catch up with other raid members that already have their BIS legendaries while he doesn't have the time to farm on the side. Imagine i want to get back raiding in Legion and i have a generic legendary like sephuz while everyone else that was active has propably both BIS legendaries, i will never get a raiding spot until i farm and pray to RNG that i get my BIS and be able to match the dps of the other players.

I clean every raid on normal and heroic difficult every week (sometimes even LFR), do the dungeon world tour, a lot of WQs and some Mythic + runs, and I get one legendary per month if I'm lucky. 

This RNG garbage needs to go, and I hope this system won't be on the next expansion.

The hate is because as-is those tokens are completely unneeded. People have been asking for some way of catch-up for legendaries (and rightly so) so newer players could get into the game and compete more easily with those who have played 24/7 since the beginning of expansion, or to make rerolling/re-speccing less punishing.

Instead they ignore that completely and give more stuff to the 1% who definitely does not need more.

They wanted to massively increase the drop rate for the first two legendaries for a character and that's a step in the right direction if it makes both legendaries show up within the first week at 110, but that completely ignores the fact 95% of legendaries for your class suck compared to your BiS. Get unlucky with two bad legendaries? Better bring out your wallet and pay $60 for a 100 boost so you can quickly reroll that character and get it back to 110 and hope that one gets better legendaries, because every moment you spend more without your BiS is wasted. But maybe that's what they want.

 

Instead of recognizing the problem with legendaries they just keep giving more and more additions that only really benefit those who have already been lucky to begin with. Remember spec-specific BLP? Oh you got Prydaz and Roots as your first two legendaries? Well too bad, your BLP is shot for all specs. Got your two BiS spec-specific legendaries as your first two? Congrats, now you also get to have your first two legendaries for your off-specs easier.

It would make more sense if legendary tokens started dropping when you already collected them all in one spec. That way if you did have them all for that spec, you'll still have a chance to get a legendary item for other specs or classes you play regularly especially when you need to keep your loot specialization set for a boss's item that can only drop for that spec (such as a trinket for dps spec vs healing trinks vs tank trinks). As it stands now, it's a slap in the face for the token system players have asked for since the inception of legendary items, including me. This is very disappointing and I hope everyone will take the time to let Blizzard know, civilly.

      Some Mythic+ news today, as the new seasonal affix, Corrupted, has gone up on the PTR and is available to test, but we also got word of some additional changes to another affix come the nest season. Quaking is getting a revamp, as it will no longer be able to damage the player affected, but the damage to nearby players will be increased.

      The new seasonal affix has an additional benefit, as when you enter Ny'alotha and fight the lieutenant, you can kite him to wherever you want in the dungeon and exit there when you've killed him, allowing you to skip a whole lot of trash (since you can move around the dungeon while in Ny'alotha, as you're phased out from the regular mobs etc).
      Season 4 M+ Affixes (source)
      With today’s update to the Visions of N’Zoth PTR, testers can now experience the new affix coming to Mythic Keystone dungeons in Season 4.
      When a Mythic Keystone dungeon is Corrupted, players will find obelisks throughout the dungeon that allow you to enter Ny’alotha and confront powerful servants of N’Zoth. With each obelisk, players must make a terrible choice, as all servants that are not killed will join the final boss encounter.
      In order to test this quickly, PTR-only Keystone vendors have been placed Boralus and Dazar’alor. They sell customizable Keystones and scrolls that can be used to set the level and affixes of the Keystones.
      Notably, Season 4 also has a change that we’re making to the Quaking affix. Now, players can no longer damage themselves with this effect, and damage to nearby allies is increased from 20% to 40% of maximum health.       The alternative to Titanforging has been revealed on 8.3 PTR! Items from Ny'alotha will drop with random Benthic-like effects and a +Corruption stat which grants side effects. Higher Corruption increases the number of side effects and their strenghts and alters the appearance of your character.

      Same Item Level, Still Too Much RNG-Based
      Ny'alotha comes with Corrupted gear with Benthic-like effects and side effects. The Benthic-like effects on the items will still be random and the amount of Corruption an item can have varies too. Primary/secondary stats and item level currently don't change on 8.3 PTR.
      Here are three different versions of one item. They rolled with +6, +14, and +24 Corruption and random Benthic-like effects. Ideally, you want an item with the least possible Corruption and the best effect. The Benthic-like component varies too. We've seen one item increase our Leech by 2% where another one increased it by 4%, so there's still a lot of RNG involved.



      Your Corruption, Resistance, and Total Corruption are displayed in the Character Panel.

      Side Effects
      A total of four side effects (debuffs) activate and grow in power at various levels of Corruption.
      Grasping Tendrils (10+ Corruption) - Taking damage has a chance to slow your movement speed for 5 sec. The magnitude of the slow increases with further Corruption. Corrupted Zone (20+ Corruption) - Your spells and abilities have a chance to create a corrupted zone at your location, dealing Shadow damage to you every 2 sec. The size and damage of the corrupted zone increases with higher Corruption. Grand Delusions (40+ Corruption) - Taking damage has a chance to summon a Thing from Beyond, which pursues you for 10 seconds. Its speed increases with further Corruption. Creeping Death (60+ Corruption) - Damage taken increased by 10% and healing reduced by 10%. At Corruption Level 106, damage taken is increased and healing taken reduced by 56%.       The character grows darker and pulses with Void energy based on the level of Corruption.

      Cleansing Corruption
      Heart of Azeroth will have an infinite progression slot to aid you against N’Zoth’s corruption at max level in Patch 8.3. New 8.3 Essences reduce Corruption by 10. In addition to that, we found some global strings associated with cleansing Corrupted items, which is in line with our theory that you will be able to use a currency to get rid of their side effects in Visions of N'Zoth: ITEM_CORRUPTION_BONUS_STAT - +%d Corruption CORRUPTION_CLEANSER_TOOLTIP_TITLE - Cleansing this item will REMOVE the following effects: CORRUPTION_TOOLTIP_TITLE - You are Corrupted!       Visions of N'Zoth is Battle for Azeroth's final major content patch, where we take the battle to N'Zoth himself and visit Ny'alotha. Our hub covers everything you need to know about Patch 8.3 and helps you stay on track if you haven't been playing the game for a while.
      Patch 8.3 Release Date
      While nothing has been officially confirmed, we think the patch is going to hit live servers on December 2019. Datamined sound files suggest that Ny'alotha, the Waking City raid, might be delayed until Patch 8.3.5 and not open immediately when Visions of N'Zoth goes live, which would delay the new Mythic+ Season as well.
      Game Director Ion Hazzikostas talked about Visions of N'Zoth in the latest Content Preview on October 7. We learned pretty much everything about the new patch, and in the following section, you're going to find its main features:
      Assaults
      Invasions return to the game once more, and this time, they're called Assaults. The Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Uldum will be periodically under assault by N'Zoth's forces, and your goal is to drive them back by completing quests and interacting with various objectives to complete the "emissary." Blizzard uses technology and everything they've learned from Mechagon and Nazjatar in this new iteration of Assaults to ensure dynamic replayability. Assaults are mandatory if you want to enter Horrific Visions.
      Initial Preview of Assaults in Visions of N'Zoth Horrific Visions
      Described as alternate realities where N'Zoth's power is ascendant, these are 1-5 player "scenarios" of Stormwind and Orgrimmar, where you need to complete various objectives for rewards. Horrific Visions revolve around a new mechanic called Sanity, which starts draining as soon as you enter a Horrific Vision. Your goal is to complete as many side objectives as possible and defeating the mini-boss before your Sanity is completely depleted.
      To help you with that, we've got Wrathion with a new Legendary Cloak and a Titanic Research Archive for Horrific Visions with perks that gradually trivialize the feature.
      Ny'alotha, the Waking City
      We will be facing N'Zoth in Ny'alotha, the new twelve-boss raid located in Uldum. It comes with a raid skip quest after you defeat the first boss and new sets up for grabs:

      Rewards Updates

      Another pair of Allied Races will become available in Visions of N'Zoth. Alliance players will be able to recruit Mechagnomes, and their Horde counterpart are the Vulpera of Vol'dun.

      Goblins and Worgen received new models and animations in Patch 8.2.5, but no Heritage Armor, which is added in Patch 8.3.

      The Auction House will be completely revamped. No more lag caused by the system being clogged with single stacks. Stackable items are no longer purchased or sold in stacks; copper is no longer displayed in the Auction House, but used for calculations.       Ion teased the removal of Titanforging in Patch 8.3 through something more "twisted and corrupt." We found some interesting Corrupted Rings from Ny'alotha with various Kiss/Curse Effects.
      Based on datamining and game assets, we found out that 8.3 items have a +Corruption stat and based on your Corruption level come various side effects which can be cleansed.

      Allied Race & Pandaren Death Knights
      We found encrypted sound files of Bolvar and Mograine together with Death Knight creature textures for Allied Races and the Pandaren, and new Death Knight Swords of the Ebon Blade.
      We think Allied Races and the Pandaren will be able to roll Death Knights in the near future, and there is at least a partial revamp of the Death Knight starting area planned now that Bolvar is the Lich King. Given that the files are encrypted, it's likely that this bit will be unveiled at this year's BlizzCon.
      New Mounts
      As usual, with every content update, multiple mounts are coming with placeholder descriptions, sources, and whatnot.
      Alpaca Mounts - Presumably, new reputation mounts available for purchase at Exalted. Chalcedony Cloud Serpent - A new recolor of the existing serpent, possibly tied to the Assault on Vale. N'Zoth Serpent - New Stormsong Valley Rare Mount from the Adherent of the Abyss. Aqir Flying Mount - Mythic N'Zoth mount, maybe? Ny'alotha Allseer - Ahead of the Curve reward? Island Expedition Vendors
      In Patch 8.3, you will be able to purchase Island-specific and Invasion-specific crates for Dubloons.

      Blizzard is adding three new world bosses to the game, which drop item level 445 loot.

      I’ve updated the Affliction section in the OP with recent new changes. It now reads:
      Warlock Affliction Deathbolt now deals 20% of the total remaining damage of the Warlock’s damage over time effects on the target (was 30%). Drain Soul damage increased by 50%. Nightfall now increases the damage of Shadow Bolt by 50% (was 25%), and now activates 33% more often. Developers’ notes: One of the key concepts about Affliction Warlock is spreading damage over time spells on a number of different targets. While Deathbolt keys off these types of spells, it provides more-than-expected burst damage and outperforms the other two talents in every situation. In addition to reducing Deathbolt’s effectiveness, we’re improving the other two options to give more options to Affliction Warlocks.

      In our next major content update, Visions of N’Zoth, we’re working on some tuning updates to a few specs that are under- and over-performing in various ways.
      Developers’ notes: Specs which excel at DoTs on multiple targets have, over the course of many tiers of content, generally had very high performance on the average. Their DPS advantage in raid encounters that play into their multi-target strength (which are relatively common) is not balanced by a comparable disadvantage in other areas. A small reduction in damage on these specs will leave them noticeably strong in the situations in which they’re strong (albeit slightly less than before), and give other specs more opportunity to stand out at other times. At the same time, a few of the Essences added in Rise of Azshara are not performing as well as we would have liked, so we’re increasing the effectiveness of some parts of them to help keep them competitive with the other Essences available.
      With the first build of the update on our Public Test Realm (PTR), you will see the following changes:
      Classes
      Druid Balance Moonfire damage and periodic damage reduced by 10%. Sunfire damage and periodic damage reduced by 10%. High Noon (Azerite Trait) damage increased by 11%. Power of the Moon (Azerite Trait) damage increased by 11%. Mage Frost Ice Lance damage increased by 20%. Developers’ note: Ice Lance damage hasn’t kept up with Icicles scaling, making builds that ignore Ice Lance possible. The intent of this change is to give Frost Mages a better incentive to use Ice Lance within their rotation, as a DPS net gain. Monk Brewmaster Stamina bonus reduced to 30% (was 35%). Stagger percentage reduced to 90% of Agility (was 105%). High Tolerance now increases the effectiveness of Stagger by 5% (was 8%). Developers’ notes: Brewmaster’s extremely high effective health against Physical damage meant that they are rarely in danger against spike damage that threatens other tanks. This should still be a strength of Brewmaster, but not by such a wide margin. Fixed a bug causing Gift of the Ox orbs to spawn too often for players with high amounts of Stamina. Mistweaver Rising Mist healing increased 30%, and now extends Heal-over-time effects by 3 seconds (was 2 seconds). [Coming in a future PTR build] Developers’ note: This talent is currently overshadowed on its row, and we want to make sure it’s competitive enough to make its unique playstyle a viable option. Life Cocoon now absorbs for 55% of the caster’s maximum health (was 1100% of the caster’s spellpower). [Coming in a future PTR build] Developers’ note: This ability had gotten weaker compared to player health pools since the start of the expansion, and this will help it better maintain its value. Windwalker Rising Sun Kick damage increased by 25%. Blackout Kick damage increased by 10%. Developers’ note: These changes are intended to help Windwalkers perform better in single-target fights. Paladin Holy Glimmer of Light (Azerite Trait) may now be applied to a maximum of 8 targets. Developers’ notes: Over the past year, builds centered around this trait have steadily pulled ahead of all other Holy Paladin playstyles, and to some extent all other healers in high-end content. This change is meant to preserve the gameplay of the trait, but limit the ability to increase its value drastically by stacking every possible bonus that reduces Holy Shock cooldown. Priest Discipline Atonement healing reduced to 50% (was 55%). Mastery: Grace effectiveness increased by 12%. Developers’ notes: Discipline’s ability to contribute both damage and healing is slightly too high for what one character can bring to a group composition. At the same time, we’re making their Mastery stat slightly more attractive. Schism now increases damage done from Priest spells and abilities only. Developers’ notes: This is intended to be consistent with other class cooldowns. Shadow Auspicious Spirits damage bonus reduced to 25% (was 50%). Fixed a bug causing Spiteful Apparitions (Azerite Trait) to be increased by 75% if you do not have Auspicious Spirits talented. Developers’ notes: The multiplicative interaction between Auspicious Spirits, Spiteful Apparitions, and Chorus of Insanity has specifically been a big part of Shadow’s damage scaling somewhat out of control at high target counts. Chorus of Insanity critical strike bonus reduced by 25%. Shadow Word: Pain damage reduced by 8%. Vampiric Touch damage reduced by 8%.       Worldvein Resonance Major rank 1, when used, now additionally causes you to gain +50% bonus to stats from Lifeblood Shards for 10 seconds. Vision of Perfection Proc rate increased by 12%. Unbound Force Major rank 1 damage increased by 40%. Minor rank 1 duration increased to 4 seconds (was 3 seconds). Minor rank 3 increase of duration increased to 2 seconds (was 1 second). Purification Protocol Major rank 1 damage increased by 15%. Major rank 2 now has the potential work on targets that are part of raid and dungeon encounters. Vitality Conduit We’ve rebuilt the way this Essences works, and it should be visually more impactful, as you will now see healing on your targets. As always, changes like these are a work in progress. We are likely to make further adjustments for testing throughout the PTR.
