Survival hunter Pet

Recommended Posts

Hey all, Im new to survival hunter, i used to play bm/mm before, and with them i never really worried about what pet to use. With bm i just went with a random spirit beast and with mm i run the Lone WolfLone Wolf talent. I get that the whole point of choosing a pet in survival is which will give to more procs of Mastery: Hunting CompanionMastery: Hunting Companion. Here's my question. Does a carrion bird's Bloody ScreechBloody Screech and a tank pet's ThunderstompThunderstomp have a chance to proc an addition charge of mongoose bite? and would ThunderstompThunderstomp be more effective than Ferocity spec's Spiked CollarSpiked Collar in procing mongoose bite?

As far as I know the mastery effect only procs from auto attacks or claw/bite. None of the pets special attacks will proc it, so you want to use a ferocity pet. A Moth for Battle-Res or a Nether Ray for Bloodlust are still the best choices overall.

Depends on the fight really. Any pet is fine for SV - but since your pet doesn't do much damage compared to your regular abilities, it's better to have it in tenacity with Thunderstomp turned ON. SV is completely different to BM in that it will actually contribute to more procs with Thunderstomp - especially on AoE; each target hit by Thunderstomp has a chance to proc your mastery.

Any other ability outside of Thunderstomp will not affect your proc rate.

Are you sure about that? I didn't know Thunderstomp would proc it but the guides I've read say that Mastery is the worst stat for Survival Hunters, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to prioritize that. I checked some of the top logs on Goroth and Mistres Sassz'ine, but their damage sources don't have Thunderstomp listed, so it's safe to assume that the best Surv Hunters don't use it and you shouldn't either.

Been that way since launch - it's mostly for AoE that it's apparent on, but with the way SV mastery and proc rates have changed it's probably inconsequential really. Just do whatever you want with your pet - whatever you like the looks / feel of most. It barely makes any difference to your dps as SV so just go with what you like the most.

I want to make sure I understand something correctly.
      From the guide:
"Cast  Serpent Sting to consume  Viper's Venom procs when the DoT is about to expire. Without  Viper's Venom, you should only refresh  Serpent Sting when  Coordinated Assault is not active."
I take this to mean that sometimes we just let the Viper's Venom proc expire. It only lasts 6 seconds and the Serpent Sting dot is 12 seconds, so if we get a proc shortly after applying Serpent Sting, we'll be outside the pandemic window when the proc expires. It seems like outside of Coordinated Assault periods we can almost ignore Viper's Venom because we're only refreshing the dot within the pandemic window anyway. Is that right?

      Hello everyone ! ?
I recently return to BFA and i have a question about the hunter BM rotation.
My concern is about refresh Frenzy and cast "Kill command" on cooldown. Indeed, many times i have to face the dilemma to choose either loose my stacks of Freenzy or delay "Kill command".
So is it worth to slighly delay "Kill command" in order to refresh Frenzy ?
Sorry for my approximative english !
