Trait

  • Dragonqueen
    • After 1.25 seconds, transform into a dragon and gain 500 Health. While Dragonqueen is active, Alexstrasza's Basic Abilities are empowered, her Basic Attacks deal 143 damage and heal allied Heroes for 43 in an arc in front of her, and the duration of incoming Slows, Roots, Blinds, and Stuns is reduced by 50%. Lasts 15 seconds.

Basic Abilities

  • Gift of Life (Q)
    • Sacrifice 15% of Alexstrasza's current Health, healing an ally for 150% of that amount.
    • Dragonqueen: Breath of Life cooldown greatly reduced and does not cost Health.
  • Abundance (W)
    • Plant a seed of healing that blooms after 3 seconds, healing nearby allied Heroes for 20% of their maximum Health.
    • Dragonqueen: Preservation heal area and amount greatly increased.
  • Flame Buffet (E)
    • Launch a fireball, Burning enemies hit for 75 damage over 5.5 seconds.Hitting enemies that are already Burning deals 125 bonus damage upon impact, Slows them by 40% decaying over 2 seconds, and refunds the Mana cost.
    • Dragonqueen: Wing Buffet damage and Knockback enemies in an arc.

  • Cleansing Flame (R)

Each fireball restores 300 Health to nearby allied Heroes, and deals 150 damage to nearby enemies.2 seconds after dropping all fireballs, Alexstrasza lands at the position of your mouse cursor.

AI

General

  • Made improvements to Battleground strategies used by Elite AI Heroes.
  • Several additional Heroes have received tactical AI improvements, including:
    • Greymane
    • Johanna
    • Ragnaros
    • Rehgar
    • Rexxar
    • Valeera
    • Zarya

Art

Heroes, Abilities, and Talents

  • Li Li has received updated visual effects to coincide with Talent changes.
  • Sgt. Hammer's Basic Attacks during Siege Mode now better convey area of effect damage.

Battlegrounds

Bloodlust Brawl

  • All Minions, Mercs, and the Dragon Knight now have permanent Bloodlust.
Developer Comment: When looking at this Brawl, we really love the Bloodlust buff. By powering up the Players and the Dragon Knight so much, the poor Minions really struggled to provide much value during the Brawl. In order to bring them up to speed with their Mercenary buddies, we’ve decided that all Minions could use permanent Bloodlust as well.

Ranked Battleground Rotation Update

  • Added to Rotation
    • Battlefield of Eternity
    • Infernal Shrines
  • Removed from Rotation
    • Haunted Mines
    • Garden of Terror
  • The full Ranked Battleground Rotation is now as follows:
    • Battlefield of Eternity
    • Braxis Holdout
    • Cursed Hollow
    • Dragon Shire
    • Infernal Shrines
    • Sky Temple
    • Tomb of the Spider Queen
    • Towers of Doom
    • Volskaya Foundry

User Interface

In-Game UI

  • Capture Points
    • Volskaya Foundry objective UI will now display “Contested” text when members of both teams are actively fighting over a capture point.
  • Core
    • Notifications that indicate when the allied Core is under attack have been made more apparent.
  • Talent Tier Advantage Callouts
    • In-game chat messages will now automatically appear for all players when a team reaches levels 10 and 20 in order to more clearly indicate when one team has a Heroic Ability or Storm Talent tier advantage over the other.
    • A follow-up message will appear when the second team reaches levels 10 and 20 to indicate that Heroic Abilities or Storm Talents are now available to both teams.

Damn, I was expecting they'd fix the Jaina art icon bug.

There is currently a bug where if you switch the positions of "Improved Ice Block" and "Icy Veins", "Icy Veins" will have the icon art of "Improved Ice Block" for the rest of the game.

Am I the only only saddened that they didn't add any new mounts or skins? I mean come on, I remember the time when In Development videos showed new mounts and skins, instead of lazy recolors and sprays

I am a bit too. I guess they've been on a tighter budget lately since 2.0. But now this may change since they're changing the politics of "Gems-only" launch skins. Which is worrying.

Accordingly to the leak, Raynor would get a Viking-themed skin. But I assume they will save it for the Firebat patch, when he is supposed to have his rework.

They should stop to call it an Event when they are just showering us with useless things. That's disappointing for the players and embarrassing for the devs.

Eager to see Alex in action though :)

So you are trying to tell me, that finally there will be Firebat after Hanzo? That would be so cool, I really love that unit in SC, I know there were like two leaks or more and even when Malthael was leaked he was leaked to, so I hope finally we are going to get him.

They've been sneaky and put this rework Lili out there at the same time we have this big flashy dragon healer released, but I noticed, and I am disappointed. At first glance the rework has given her a bit of extra depth, but I already find myself looking for some number tweaks. A couple of key things to note; her healing ult stops her from using Cleanse, I'm not sure about Mistweaver and Safety Sprint however. This and the fact you can still easily interrupt her channelled ult with the gazillion forms of cc in the meta has long since lost it's comedy value as well. She can hold her own against a surprising number of heroes still, but they have definitely targeted her damage potential, particularly with the previous big power spike with Surging Winds at 13 which is still there but at half the buff and duration I believe.

Overall more squishy, less healing until much later on, power spike talents don't have the same impact as you would hope for, a lack of quests and skill cap severely limits one's ability to keep up with contemporary healers, clunky to use healing ult that's not consistent with other supports, less damage and less utility outside of Cleanse in a double support comp than her peers.

Edit for Alexstrasza: Her Cleansing Flame ult and her trait reset or ignore negative effects such as Tracer's Pulsebomb and poison stacks from Ana. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but it is unquestionably powerful.

The latest patch is now live with Orphea, visual updates to Dragon Shire, and new Hero bundles!
      Highlights
Orphea received additional tweaks today in the live version of the patch. The new Hero is available to all BlizzCon attendees and Virtual Ticket holders free of charge. Don't forget to check out our Orphea build guide (will be up soon). Alextrasza’s Life-Binder (R) and Rehgar’s Ancestral Healing (R) abilities are no longer cancelled under any conditions other than enemy abilities that remove the target from play. Stimpacks are now called Boosts and the 360 Day Boost is available at a 33% reduced price for the next two weeks along with new Hero Bundles. Blizzard released a new digital comic about Orphea yesterday. Blizzard (Source)
Our newest patch, featuring Orphea, is now live! Read on for a detailed breakdown of what’s new in the Nexus.
NOTE: Orange text indicates a change between the PTR and Live notes.
      General
Boost What was once called a Stimpack is now a Boost, and in addition to buffing your own experience and Gold gains at the end of a match, all players will receive 5% bump in experience for each player in their match who had an active Boost. That mean players can receive up to a 45% XP bonus if all 10 players in game have a Boost active! In addition to stacking Boost XP buffs, you’ll now be able to retroactively Boost your Gold and XP gains at the end of a match by applying a Boost from the Score Screen. Design
Channeled Healing Abilities Alextrasza’s Life-Binder (R) and Rehgar’s Ancestral Healing (R) abilities are no longer cancelled under any conditions other than enemy abilities that remove the target from play (Devouring Maw, Gorge, Cocoon.) Spell Power Modifiers The following abilities and talents have been updated to have any percentage-based spell power modifiers stack additively when calculating damage: (This is the default behavior for all other abilities and talents unless otherwise stated in the tooltip) Zul’jin’s Buzzsaw (R) talent Hanzo’s Dragonstrike (R) center damage effect Gul’dan’s Rampant Hellfire (Q) talent The following abilities have had their tooltips updated to reflect that percentage-based spell power modifiers will stack multiplicatively when calculating damage: Kael’thas’ Phoenix (R) ability Nazeebo’s Vile Infection (Passive) talent Li Li’s Lightning Serpent (W) talent Li-Ming’s Arcane Orbit (W) talent Battlegrounds
Experience gains from Mercenary Camp captures have been unified. All Mercenary Camps now grant all Experience on capture. Dragon Shire: Dragon Shire has received updated Battleground art (including an updated Dragon Knight) New Hero: Orphea (Assassin)
Rejecting the dark power her father had begun to consort with, Orphea tried to run away from the Raven Lord's influence. But after witnessing King's Crest fall to his machinations, she was convinced she needed to stand and fight. She now vows to protect the innocent – as a Hero of the Nexus.
      Trait
Overflowing Chaos (Trait) Hitting an enemy Hero with a Basic Ability grants 1 Chaos. Chaos can stack up to 3 times. While Orphea has Chaos, her Basic Attacks against Heroes consumes all Chaos, dealing 50% increased damage per stack, and healing for 100% of the damage dealt. Basic Abilities
Shadow Waltz (Q) After 0.5 seconds, deal 150 damage to enemies in a line. Hitting a Hero with Shadow Waltz sets its cooldown to 2 seconds and causes Orphea to dash a short distance upon moving. Chomp (W) After 0.6 seconds, deal 285 damage to nearby enemies in front of Orphea. Dread (E) Release a wave of dread that deals 85 damage to enemies hit. Dread erupts 0.75 seconds after reaching the end of its path, dealing 175 damage and Slowing enemies in the area by 25% for 2 seconds. Heroic Abilities
Eternal Feast (R) After 1.5 seconds, deal 210 damage in an area. Eternal Feast repeats every 1 second as long as it hits an enemy Hero. Crushing Jaws (R) After 1.25 seconds, pulls enemies in an area towards the center, dealing 275 damage and Stunning them for 0.75 seconds. User Interface

Thanks for paying such close attention! Heroes, Abilities, and Talents

Stukov: Fixed an issue preventing Lurking Arm from revealing damaged targets if they were at the edge of its area of effect. The fourth Heroes of the Storm comic coincides with the release of Orphea, Heir of the Raven Court.
      Issue #4
We find out that Orphea's mother abandonded them when she was a child. The Raven Lord told Orphea that only he can contain the Dark Nexus, but she has her doubts.
"Why build a prison when no one is to be freed?"
      Orphea
Orphea always tries to solve problems in a destructive manner, but she's told to try thinking like her mother for once. She confronts her father who calls her an ungrateful brat.
"Just like your mother you fail to recognize that sacrifices must be made to save this impermanent world."
      The Raven Lord
Orphea defeats the Raven Lord at the end of the comic, but she knows it's not over yet.
If you missed any previous Heroes of the Storm comics, you can check them out below.

Our Meta Tier List has been updated for the latest patch!
Welcome to Icy Veins's once-again-belated Meta Tier List for the October 16 patch, which also takes the latest October 31 patch into account. The goal of this list is to try and detail game's current metagame state. The prime goal of such lists is to inform players regarding popular and trending team composition drafting strategies (i.e. the drafting metagame). Although tier listings are generally the product of balance, many factors come into play when discussing the relative perceived strengths of heroes, including player regions, maps, play style, skill level, and, of course, personal perception. As such, any tier list—including this very one—should never be interpreted as gospel, but rather, as a guide to better grasp what to expect with regards to typical drafting experiences. One useful application of such lists is to allow you know which heroes to look out for in terms of practice and counterplay, ultimately improving your knowledge of the game.

Meta heroes define the metagame. They are very often banned or picked right away, as they generally dictate the pace of most drafts and matches.
Generalists form the core of your team and are generally picked after Meta picks have been distributed. They tend to work on most maps, and as part of and against most team compositions. Since this group includes most heroes, I elected to split it into three tiers. High-tier rankings are a result of performance (i.e. win rates) and popularity (i.e. pick and ban rates). This means that heroes with high win rates can be set in low tier; the opposite may also be true.
Situational picks shine on specific maps or as part of specific team compositions.
Our twenty-fourth Heroes of the Storm Meta Tier list for the month of November is here!
