Heroes of the Storm is heading to PAX East on April 5 and the devs plan to introduce one of the most unlikely Heroes from Blizzard's history to the game. Who will it be?

The next Hero to join the Nexus will be unveiled in just one week and Blizzard described the newest addition to the game as unusual in a post about the panel earlier today. I's probably not going to be a Hero from the existing franchises, but someone else - Blackthorne, anyone? The Heroes of the Storm PAX East Panel will be streamed on Twitch. You can find more details in the blue post below.

Could be Deckard Cain, maybe? He isn't much of a fighter in Diablo, so it could be they consider him unlikely to join in.

Might also be another creature like Brightwing and Murky. A zerg drone, NPC class robot like Probius, A furbolg, or something else like that.

Likely not going to be a major lore character that people want, like the prime or lesser evils from Diablo, the missing ones from the Angelic Council, Deathwing, Azshara, or something like that.

Overwatch character? I guess if they wanted to go that route, it could be one of their newer heroes like Moira, inatead of the classic ones not incorporated into HotS yet.

Many possibilities. Will be interesring to see who it actually ends up being.

Pls no heroes like probius or morales ! Somebody tell them to give us some of games main characters! I can't deal with it when I see they add a little guy without lore named probius while we had so many bosses from wow or Diablo or many OW characters or even some of other SC characters! I hope they don't mean such things again!

I think you guys are all off base. They said it's 'one of the most unlikely Hero's from Blizzard's history yet'. It's gonna be a race car from Rock N' Roll Racing :p.

But seriously, I'd LOVE it to be Blackthorne. But he doesn't seem that unusual as he's made for combat and looking badass. I think Deckard Cain is the best guess after that data mined background screen found about a month ago. It totally looked like a screen for Cain with all those books and the stain glass windows and all. And Cain would be pretty unlikely as he's about the furthest thing from a Hero made for combat.

OR They could mess with us since April Fool's day is Sunday. We might get a joke reveal hero first on Sunday. Then what seemed like a joke turns out on Thursday the 5th it's not a joke at all. I guess we'll all find out soon enough, right? :)

Extra thought: Hmm... I wonder if it could be the villain from The Lost Vikings, Tomator: Emperor of the Croutonian Empire. That would be a pretty unusual choice for a Hero too :). Even if he does just look like a giant Orc :p.

Maybe its something to do with the upcoming hearthstone release: the witchwoods?

No way:D they never added something from HS except that HS card mounts...if they wanted to add something from HS,it would be reno Jackson(which people asked for alot) but they didn't..so there's no chance for that

If they want make some of most unlikely Leeroy Jenkins fit the role as it's widely known but is more unlikely than probius as a hero.

I haven't played Starcraft but wasn't something like Mira Han leaked as another double hero?

Depends on how tight they want the reveal and release to be. I expect Nzoth to come out during the time of Battle For Azeroth (expected main villain in most credible theory-craft locations) as a cross over event. He would likely be similar to abathur in his map presence, but possibly more de-buff focused and could have some really interesting game mechanics.

In Storm League, rank is always updated by taking the change in rating and determining the equivalent number of rank points to reward. While the Heroes team is quite happy with how it turned out, the system is causing problems in Bronze 5.
In Bronze 5, players gain/lose far fewer points per game than players in other leagues and divisions. The underlying problem makes it harder to climb out of Bronze 5 and causes frustration and bad gameplay experience. The team is working on ways to improve it and provided an explanation of why this is happening.
      Blizzard (Source)
With the launch of Storm League season 1 we have seen a dramatic improvement in rank distribution. One of the primary changes in this release was in how rank is determined. In the past, rank and rating were two entirely different concepts, both of which were updated differently after each game. It was very common for a player's rank and rating to diverge throughout each season which could cause the matchmaking system to struggle to find games.
With the changes introduced this season, rank is always updated by taking the change in rating and determining the equivalent number of rank points to reward. This leaves very few ways rating and rank can diverge and results in most players being shown a number equivalent to their rating.
Overall, we are very happy with how the changes are looking; however, we are aware of the inconsistencies players are currently experiencing in Bronze 5. With the new design, players in Bronze 5 will gain/lose far fewer points per game than players in all of the other leagues and divisions. The reason for this is a bit technical but we wanted to take the opportunity to elaborate on what's going on.
Under the hood, matchmaking rating is simply a number on a bell curve. Every league and division encompasses a range of values on the same curve. For example, if the overall bell curve ranges from -10.0 to 10.0 and the range 1.0 to 1.5 maps to Gold 1, then a player with a rating of 1.25 will have the equivalent rank of Gold 1 & 500/1000 points. These numbers are intentionally made up as the real ones are always subject to change but the idea is the same.
The reason for the decrease in points awarded in Bronze 5 is that the range of ratings that maps to Bronze 5 is much larger than other divisions. The difference is that this much larger range of ratings still maps to the same number of rank points. As a result, despite being rewarded the same change in matchmaking rating, the rank points awarded may be lower. This is visualized by the graph below:
We understand that this inconsistency is a negative experience for players so we will be exploring some ways to improve it.
Thanks for participating in Storm League and providing your feedback!
