Recommended Posts

Players that haven't played the game for a while can now claim 7 days of free game time until April 30, 2018.

  • Open the Blizzard Battle.net desktop app.
  • Click the glowing Gift Button located next to your BattleTag in the upper right.
  • Click Claim. A notification will pop-up whenever you have new Gifts to claim.

We're not exactly sure how long must your account be inactive in order to receive the gift, but we'll update this thread when we find out! The game time can only be redeemed until April 30, 2018.

If you decide to activate your account now, make sure to check out what's going on this week in WoW!

It has to be at least 6 months, as my account has been inactive since early Oct and I don't have a gift sitting in that tab.

I had a break between cata/MoP - way longer than six months ago ;)

DARN STILL NO FREE TIME  -  DANG U BLIZZ!!1!

It might be that this gift (Or conditions to be eligible) are triggered when the servers reboot (Including login servers?). So if you're on EU, you may have the gift waiting for you in a few hours. I stopped in January myself and haven't received the gift yet either (EU).

Not correct. My GM has been inactive for 2 months and he got the game time today.

Always the same. If you are paying player you are fucked. Why does every company fuck the "loyal" player and only give "new" or not paying members of the community something. This is a fucking joke!

The whole purpose of the free time is to entice people back to the game. That's hardly necessary for current subscribers and totally understandable.

I stopped playing shortly before tomb of sargeras' raid opened, seen a bit of that new isle daily quest tower thing where everybody collaborates, done that chapel dungeon and that's decided to quit.

I received the 7 days free gift.

However, he is not wrong.
Take a look at the advertising of banks e.g.
A special offer with higher interest rates - only for "new" money, new accounts.
As a customer, you are already with a company - and that's why you are way less interesting then somebody else that the company MAY get as a new customer.

Sometimes it feels like a joke, I am quite with you there. You are with your bank for 20 years. Maybe even with quite some money. (Not millions, but let's say 50 000 or something like that. Sure, that's not much. But it aint nothing either.) And yet everyone who is a new client and who puts maybe 500 bucks into his account is better treated than you are.

Like I said, I understand the logic - why care about somebody who is already your client.
Nevertheless you definitly get the (correct) impression that you are not appreciated as a client. Which may even leads to looking for a change. (Which - ironically - will make you interesting for the company who didn't care about you for years.)

Well, I stopped playing a little over a year ago right as Nighthold released.  No free week received here yet.

Man, I must have stopped too late.  I stopped mid-tomb and I didn't receive it.

Edit: For those who did receive it, did you have the game installed still? I had uninstalled it.

I cannot find the "Gifts" tab

Never mind. No gifts waiting. Thought my third account might (about 3 years now). May not apply since it is linked to my active account.

Hi Stan I just registered to say thank you for sharing the event that happened in April. Do you know of any future free wow game time giveaways from Blizzard will be? I haven't played in a long time and want to start back but don't have any money right now :(

The Gallywix boosting community is pretty well known in WoW, featuring many players from top guilds engaging in gold boosts, but now it seems they've been dabbling in real money gold selling as well, and Blizzard isn't having it. As the actions are against the Terms of Service, Blizzard has started banning accounts related to the real money boosting activities. While the focus is on Gallywix, the investigation is still ongoing and might target other RMT boosting services as well. It is unclear whether the "ban" term used by Blizzard refers to permanent account closures, but that seem most likely.
      Gallywix Bans (source)
After performing a thorough investigation, we’ve identified that the Gallywix boosting organization has been taking part in gold selling for real money. Real money trading – also known as RMT – is a serious violation of our End-User License Agreement and is not tolerated, therefore we’ve begun taking action and have banned accounts in North America and Europe that were associated with this group and taking part in the real money trading transactions.
These actions have primarily targeted the Gallywix organization so far, but our investigations are ongoing and additional accounts involved with running this organization may be banned in the future.
Going forward, accounts may receive actions if they are found to be involved in future transactions with Gallywix or are actively advertising it.
      Thank you for your understanding.

Ivan Kuzkin is back with another mix , with a bit more focus on the PvE side of WoW esports, with Mythic+ getting a prominent chunk, followed by the Arena action similar to what's we've already seen, but featuring a brand new first-person outlaw Rogue PoV. This is all built with IKedit's trademark amazingly fluid animations and crazy armor effects any warrior would kill for (and kill with, as it happens).

Blizzard is constantly improving weather effects in WoW and here is how raining in Ardenweald, one of the new Shadowlands zones, looks like.

Yesterday, we previewed Great Vault, the new weekly chest of Shadowlands, but many players were confused about how the rewards from Mythic Dungeons will be calculated, so here's are some clarifications.
To unlock more loot choices in the Great Vault, you must complete the following objectives related to Mythic Dungeons:
Slot #1: Complete 1 Mythic Dungeon Slot #2: Complete 5 Mythic Dungeons Slot #3: Complete 15 Mythic Dungeons If you complete 15 Mythic Dungeons in a week, you will be able to choose from up to 3 items.
Your reward is based on the lowest level of your top 1 (Slot #1), 5 (Slot #2), and 15 (Slot #3) runs. Redditor zawyer90 posted an image and explained how the system works, so helping your friend with a Mythic +5 run will not affect your weekly item choices.

We have a bunch of retail and Classic hotfixes today, leaning heavily on the Classic side, with the Ectoplasmic Distiller fix and epic Draconic pages.
      July 31 (source)
      tems and Rewards
Corrupted Items Reverted the recent change made on the interaction between Fist of Justice and Ineffable Truth for Holy and Protection Paladins. WoW Classic
The Ectoplasmic Distiller quest item no longer generates threat. Developers’ note: Ordinarily we err on the side of authenticity when it comes to clever use of mechanics in Classic, even if we believe the original development team would have made a change given the same information we now have. The Ectoplasmic Distiller presents a rare exception mainly due to its severity: this new discovery of an unintended mechanic would completely trivialize most threat gameplay in raids for the remainder of Classic if left unchecked, including upcoming bosses in Ahn’Qiraj and Naxxramas. The pages for the quest “Draconic for Dummies” are now Epic quality. Developers’ note: We’re changing the item quality on "Draconic for Dummies" quest pages to Epic (purple) so that they'll be easier to distribute to the correct person in raids using Group Loot or Master Looter.
