We've rounded up some blue posts from the past couple of days on issues like Hanzo's Storm Arrows, changes to Horizon Lunar Colony, Symmetra's rework and the possibility of Winston buffs.

Hanzo's recent rework has made him quite powerful. Storm Arrows, which replaced Scatter Arrow, have proven as frustrating to play against as their predecessor. The Overwatch team has decided to lower the damage of each arrow in the next PTR build.

We’ve been testing some nerfs internally and have decided to make a change for the upcoming patch.

We’re reducing the damage per arrow from 80 to 70, which not only drops them out of one-shot territory for 200 hp heroes (w/ dmg boost), but also drops them out of one-shot range of 150 heroes such as Tracer and D.Va pilot.

The ability will still be very strong overall, but this change should help mitigate the most frustrating element of fighting against it. We’re looking at getting this change up onto the PTR soon.

Hanzo's Ultimate charge generation rate is also under scrutiny, but the team wants to see how the aforementioned changes affect the performance of the Japanese archer before tweaking him any further.

We’ve talked about this as well but changing a heroes damage already affects their ult charge. If it still seems too frequent after Storm Arrows lands in a good place we can look at it again. (source)

Jeff Kaplan popped in the forums yesterday to say that big changes are coming to the Horizon Lunar Colony map in a PTR build that will go live at the beginning of June. It's not clear whether this build will also contain the nerf to Hanzo's Storm Arrow or whether there 'll be another build before that.

We have big changes coming to the Horizon map. The changes will most likely hit PTR close to the beginning of June. We’ve fixed the Defender spawn room issue you noted on Point B (among other things).

After Hanzo's rework, the next hero in line is Symmetra. We already know that her rework is going to turn her into a Defense hero and Geoff Goodman shared some further insight onto some of the changes the team is experimenting on.

I don’t really have visuals to show you sadly, but we’re very much in progress working on her still. There have been a few changes to her as we’ve been play testing her since I last posted.

Firstly, her turrets are still projectiles, but they are now able to be destroyed while in the air. This makes it harder to throw them directly at people in a fight to force them to turn around to kill it. Now you have to be a little more sneaky where you throw them or just pre-place them.

Secondly, her teleporter ability now requires a button input to trigger, but the teleporter works both directions. This means you can do new tricks like tossing it into an enemy Zarya ult from far away and pull your team out to safety. We’ve also seen interesting strats where a Symm can baby-sit a friendly Ana/Zen and place a TP if they get jumped on, giving a mobility out to heroes that don’t typically have that option. There is a small cooldown before you can take the teleporter once you’ve used it, so you can’t just spam back and forth instantly.

Those are the biggest changes since last post, but there have been many small numbers tweaks to get her in shape. Hopefully we’ll have something reasonably soon for you guys to see/play!

Lastly, Jeff from the Overwatch team shot down the possibility of any Winston buffs for now.

Whaaat, no Winston buffs? Nothing new that a broken OW hero stays broken for at least 3 season. No wonder all my friends stopped playing month ago

What do you mean, Winston is almost overwhelmingly used on Overwatch League as is and one of the only two tanks with very strong mobility components.

Its a very high skill (more for team than the Winston himself even) floor hero though, but that's ok on principle imho. Also one of my favorite heroes :)

      While Winter Wonderland may be the big thing in this patch, some of the implemented Hero changes are almost as big - Brigitte gets a whole lot of changes, especially to Shield Bash, with its damage basically being removed and it no longer going through barriers; McCree gets a buff to his alt fire, which used to be very overpowered and problematic back at the start of Overwatch; Doomfist gets a whole bunch of changes as well; Ashe, Bastion and Torbjorn are also getting some tuning, but it's relatively minor compared to the three mentioned above. The rest of the patch holds just a very, very big amount of bug fixes so, enjoy:

      GENERAL UPDATES
      Audio
      An option to use Windows Spatial Audio is now available. This feature can be found in the Windows Start Menu under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Speaker Device > Spatial Sound Developer Comments: Since launch, we’ve supported Dolby Atmos for players who use headphones, and we’re now expanding this support to include the Windows 10 implementation for spatial audio. Spatial audio is configured in the Windows 10 sound settings and will take priority over the settings in the game client. This will allow for more options, including settings for Windows Sonic Headphones, Dolby Atmos for Headphones, and Dolby Atmos for Home Theater.
      HERO UPDATES
      Ashe
        B.O.B. Bob will now have a golden tint when Ashe equips her golden weapon Developer Comments: Our final technical audit on Ashe’s character package allowed us to implement a feature we talked about several times during Bob’s production. Making him part of Ashe’s golden weapon is a great way to celebrate our favorite Big Omnic Butler and let players show off their hard-earned Competitive Points each time they summon him onto the battlefield.
      Bastion
        Configuration: Recon Ammo increased from 25 to 35 Configuration: Sentry Weapon spread decreased by up to 33% while firing Developer Comments: Bastion could use a little bit of an offensive boost to balance out how vulnerable Configuration: Recon’s bulky size and Sentry’s stationary nature make it. As a reward for surviving in spite of these weaknesses, we gave Bastion a lower spread in Sentry mode to make it more effective at farther ranges than it was previously.

        Shield Bash No longer can travel or stun targets through barriers Damage reduced from 50 to 5 Inspire Cooldown reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1 second Duration increased from 5 seconds to 6 seconds Total healing increased from 80 to 100 Developer Comments: Brigitte’s Shield Bash is a strong ability that often feels difficult to counter. This change will offer new options for counter play, enabling shield tanks to better protect themselves and their teammates. Reducing its damage reduces her total stun combo damage potential while still allowing Whip Shot and her basic melee attacks to retain their full strength. Brigitte is a tank/healer hybrid, and lately we’ve been reducing her effectiveness by lowering the power of her non-healing functionality. We want to make sure she is still a viable pick, so we’re increasing the uptime of her Inspire passive ability to help improve her overall healing output.
      Doomfist
        Rising Uppercut Loss of air control duration lowered from 3 seconds to 0.6 seconds Seismic Slam Maximum range reduced from 20 meters to 15 meters Targets no longer lose air control while being pulled in Meteor Strike Inner ring damage radius increased from 1.5 meters to 2.0 meters Outer ring maximum damage decreased from 300 to 200 Developer Comments: Doomfist’s high mobility allows him to engage and disengage from extremely long range. Decreasing the range of the targeted aerial version of Seismic Slam requires him to get closer before engaging an enemy and makes it slightly harder for him to escape from combat. The loss of air control on Rising Uppercut was a frustrating mechanic for players, but it allowed Doomfist to set up combos. We’ve found a decent middle ground by limiting the amount of time Doomfist has to line up his next move. The Meteor Strike changes will make it harder to secure easy eliminations on heroes without mobility abilities, such as Zenyatta or Ana, while still preserving its maximum potential damage when aimed well or when combined with other abilities such as Graviton Surge or Sleep Dart.

      The seasonal event is here and we have snow and holiday decorations everywhere! In addition to the usual new holiday cosmetics added we have Blizzard World, Black Forest, King's Row and Hanamura all decked out with holiday cheer, as well as the two modes from last year making a comeback. There's also a new Hammond Highlight Intro and Torbjorn and Genji emotes, in addition to the new skins!

      Yeti Hunter
      This 6-player brawl sets five Meis against one Yeti player who uses Winston’s abilities. The Yeti must gather meat to unlock a powerful Primal Rage ability, making him immune to Mei’s freezing abilities and granting other more powerful bonuses to eliminate the hunters. Mei players have a new tool in their arsenal, too: a “Yeti Trap” ultimate ability to root their quarry in place. Yeti players must survive long enough to eliminate enemy Meis before they take him down. Which side will emerge victorious from the snow?
      Mei’s Snowball Offensive
      In this brawl, Mei's Endothermic Blaster has been modified to fire a single, super-powered snowball. Taking down an enemy only requires one hit, but a miss can be costly. Once your weapon is empty search for the nearest snow pile to reload. When the battle starts to heat up, you can activate Mei's Ultimate, which turns her blaster into an automatic snowball launcher, allowing you to fire continuously as your enemies scatter.
      Collect New Festive Gear!
      The new seasonal items can be found in Winter Loot Boxes filled with new skins, emotes, highlights, player icons, sprays, voice lines, and more. You can also purchase items you missed from last year's event with credits at a discount. But don’t wait too long—these Loot Boxes will disappear faster than holiday desserts.

      Winter is coming to Overwatch later today and we have 4 more skin reveals from the past few days, with some pretty amazing ones in there! The most recent (and probably best) addition is Junkrat Krampus, who just might set some (monogrammed) traps in a few chimneys, so Santa better look out:
      Next we have two slightly less complex ones, but still pretty impressive, with Figure Skater Symmetra and Biathlon Widow:
      And finally we have a great one, with Mercy becoming even sweeter as Sugar Plum Fairy Mercy:

      The event starts tomorrow and lasts through January 2nd, so get ready for some wonder!

      It's the holiday season in all Blizzard games and Overwatch is no exception, as Winter Wonderland returns next week, starting on December 11th! We're (at the very least) getting the usual two modes: Mei's Snowball Offensive and Yeti Hunt, as well as new cosmetics and some holiday themed maps, including the new Blizzard World:
      The event lasts until January 2nd and we already have previews for two new skins, featuring Zarya and Lucio, with a decidedly furry look:
      As usual with these returning events, we'll also be able to get last years' skins from loot boxes, as well as buy them at slightly cheaper prices. Here are some of the previous years' skins:

      No new PTR patch this time around, but we are getting two character changes. Brigitte is still too good it seems, as another round of nerfs has arrived on the PTR, all but removing the damage of Shield Bash, but she also gets a slightly improved Inspire passive, with reduced cooldown, increased duration and healing. Doomfist also gets a mixed bag, with Seismic Slam losing more of it's CC ability, while Meteor Strike getting some inner/outer ring damage changes.

      This post is to track further updates to the PTR as we make them. The following changes are planned for a PTR patch that will probably come on Monday.
      Brigitte

      Seismic Slam Victims no longer lose air control while being pulled in. Meteor Strike Inner ring damage radius increased from 1.5m to 2.0m. This is the ring where Meteor Strike deals its full 300 damage. Max damage outside of inner ring decreased from 300 to 200. This is the ring where damage falloff happens, which still reduces the damage down to 15 at max range. Dev Notes: The PTR Doomfist changes are all about trying to give his enemies more opportunities to effectively fight back, and these changes are no exception. The Meteor Strike changes will make it harder to secure a “free” kill on heroes without mobility such as Zenyatta or Ana, while still preserving its max potential damage when aimed well or when combined with other abilities such as Graviton Surge or Sleep Dart.
      Overall we’re looking carefully at the amount of crowd control abilities (such as stuns and knockbacks that remove air control) and seeing if we can remove or reduce some of the effectiveness of some of these. Any further changes to this PTR will be posted in this thread as well.
