Yrel & Alterac Valley Coming to the Nexus Soon

Recommended Posts

The official Hero and Battleground reveal is scheduled for June 4, but YonManShow posted two screenshots on Twitter that depict Yrel and Alterac Valley well ahead of time.

It seems that the next Hero to join the Nexus is Warcraft's Yrel. We can expect some sweet skins as well. Spirit Healer Auriel, Orc Johanna, Goblin Junkrat, and more.

The second screenshot shows off a mountain giant boss on the Alterac Valley Battleground that's likely going to be revealed Monday.

While we cannot confirm the original source of the leak, it seems to have been posted by a Brazilian Gaming Site first according to reddit.

Yrel felt really forced to have a female Draenei protagonist in Draenor. And there are much more impactful Draenei Paladin than her, like Maraad.

While Draenei in general have a lackluster roster of notable characters, besides Velen, Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden, I think that Maraad would probably be a better fit for that role (except there is something unique about Yrel, which he can't have in HotS).

Velen would have been good but there’s already been a Light based WoW character.

You could do a lot with both Kil’Jaden and Achimonde but I think they’re likely to be saved since which expansion viersion would you use?

This is the first WoW character I won’t be familiar with since I quit during MOP.

I fell in love Yrel in Draenor, I loved watching her character grow throughout the expansion and it really struck home when I thought of the fact that in our own timeline/reality she wasn't alive. I was really hoping they'd put her in eventually and honestly I'm always a fan of some female characters and if she plays with avenging wrath that's going to be fantastic!

I know nothing about WoW, but that map looks pretty pretty!

Yrel was supposed to be a prominent character in the Warlords of Draenor expansion of WoW but due to several cuts made to prepare the Legion expansion, her character arc was never completed properly and was left unfulfilled.

There is also new development for Yrel in the upcoming Battle for Azeroth expansion. It's... Not pretty.

Just know if you end up on the 'horde' side of the map you're going to lose 99% of the games.

Maybe they are not gonna have the infamous bridge! A bit sad we are not getting Korrak the Bloodrager as a boss on the map, it would be so fitting.

Interesting - to me it was always the other way around 🙂 Lok'tar ogar! But I guess we won't be getting any epic 12 hour vanilla Alterac Valleys 🙂 TBH I'm quite interested as to which (omg "the Bridge") features they did decide to carry over into Heroes.

As for Draenei - I wouldn't even consider Archimonde and Kil'Jaden Draenei anymore - they are Eredar. But apart from that, I agree: Draenei, although there is a lot of lore, seem to be centered around Velen. Apart from that, there are not that many notable ones. You named pretty much all of them; Maraad and Yrel. There are some bad ass Lightforged though, like Fareeya, which got quite  some screen time recently. But I guess they are far too young, seeing them implemented only in 7.3 (IIRC).

Can't even spell Draenei...

Wonder if her alternate skin will be as the Lightbound. I imagine her going "NOBODY EXPECTS THE DRAENEI INQUISITION" XD

Also, another Johanna skin? I mean what about someone like Falstad? Are they just making skins for the currently popular heroes?

I had hoped for something like Reinhardt, but let's see how Yrel will play before passing too much judgement. Might be interesting.

Personally, I hope that her release skins will be bad, since it will make it less of a letdown when you see that you need to pay something like 2k gems to get them, and can never get them in boxes. The rest of the skins I look forward to, though the recipients of said skins looks pretty dumb.

Johanna recently got a skin. and Auriel have both a legendary and epic with special effects, making another to the mix kinds strange, when you consider the huge amount of characters who have not gotten skins in a while, or ever. Ragnaros is begging for something new, and so are Ana, Brightwing, TLV, and so on. There are far more needed characters who have such a small amount of skins to chose from it's ridiculous.

I mean hell, even a recolor to the long suffering ones would be something. A poorly done cop-out rather than putting some actual work into it, but it would still have been something.

Sometimes it is also just a matter of which character you have cool ideas for skins for. It might be that they just have a lot of fun ideas for Johanna and not so much for other characters, which I feel is only logical (in the sense you get a bunch of ideas for a single character at once).

Sure it doesn't make sense to introduce them in quick succession, but it does reveal that in the end the art design is only human.

And Blizz rick-rolls everyone again.. D.Va reveal when everyone expected Deathwing, anyone? Sombra you said? Naaah. Ecksdee. Tho, leaks have proven untrustworthy in the past (Belial, Varimathras, etc) one should keep a doubt in the back of his head until the official reveal. Excited about the new Battleground, hopefully it'll be something new and refreshing and Azeroth offers many opportunities for that.

About who gets a skin and who doesn't I'm afraid it's mostly "money talks" ie popularity. For example, Pudge/Devourer in DotA/HoN have aplenty. Lux in LoL of Legends etc and in all of those there are also characters who haven't had a new skin in ages. Since skins are one of the main (if not THE main) sources of income in a freenium model, they probably won't make many/frequently skins for someone who hasn't got a big player base/gets played a lot (which guarantees the sales will be good). The few and devoted of a particular Hero may get lucky when they release skin sets tho (Nova hasn't got a new one in a while and they used to pump out an awful lot of her- I love her but even I thought this was a bit too much. Maybe she has declined in popularity, which wouldn't surprise me).

Yrel? I don't see any prove for this. I mean, look at the screenshot: It's only a regular artwork with no hots connection (No other hero visible). The Angle in the background isn't Auriel, it's the one from the graveyard.

Depends what side you're on!

It's not pretty if you're on the side of common sense. If you're not, well...

Also, one of the dullest characters even by WC standarts. Anyone from the Frostwolf clan would be more in theme with the battleground.

Maybe they are not really releasing all those skins, it might just be teasing us just like those cool skin ideas we get as simple sprays.

Actually, you do have a point here. The first picture has no absolute connection to HotS, only the second. And the second one does not have Yrel in it.

The Picture is literally Orc Johanna, a Goblin Junkrat, a Field Marshal Muradin and a Spirit Healer Auriel Skins.

With what looks to be a Human vs Orc at the front to represent the Warcraft Conflict and will likely be the Minions.

Some have said Retri Paladin, which is essentially just an offense. It'd be better to make her a multiclass honestly, since paladins can be healers, DPS or tanks in WoW, but I have doubts that's more than hope.

It’s really funny to me how Blizzard designers are petrified to try and rebalance/redo AV in WoW but will make a new one for a different game.

It was one of the greatest BG’s they ever made and just hope they fulfill half my expectations.
