Developer Comment: We’re making a few changes to Chromie to reduce the frustration when playing against her and to reduce her wide power variance between games. A number of these changes are designed to increase counter-play when playing against Chromie, like reducing her range on her abilities and letting enemies see Dragon's BreathDragon's Breath shortly after it has been cast. In exchange, Chromie’s Sand BlastSand Blast has a shorter cast time, and she will now have a modified version of Bronze Talons baseline, where she can weave in auto-attacks for hitting enemy Heroes with her abilities. The reason we decided to give her the additional Bronze Talons trait is so that Chromie players are encouraged to interact more with their opponents. We’re rewarding them for getting into more dangerous positions with the possibility of increased damage output. This also lets us redistribute her damage away from her high burst, long range abilities, and more into something her opponents have a better opportunity to play around. We like Chromie’s unique place in our game as a long-range, artillery mage that requires enemies to pay attention to their positioning but over time we found that she simply had too much range and burst for players to feel like they had an engaging experience when playing against her. While we’ve had a blast with these changes, we’ll continue to keep an eye on her going forward and are prepared to make additional tweaks as needed.

BUG FIXES

General

  • Fixed a number of typo and tooltip errors across several aspects of the game.
  • Fixed an issue causing some abilities to repeatedly automatically cast if right-click was held.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from responding to whispers from other players with the “Only allow friends to send me messages” option enabled.
  • Quick Cast: Fixed an issue causing some vector targeted abilities to behave as if quick cast was always enabled.
  • Quick Cast: ‘On Release’ commands are now immediately fired when the hotkey for another ability is pressed. This should prevent some ‘lost keypress’ issues when firing abilities in rapid succession.

Sound

  • Increased the volume of Alarak’s announcer pack.

Art

  • Diablo: Fixed an issue with the geometry of Diablo’s tail.

Battlegrounds

  • Alterac Pass: Fixed an issue that could cause the Cavalry’s aura effect to fail to display on low settings.

Heroes, Abilities, and Talents

  • Abathur: Fixed an issue causing Abathur’s Monstosity to fail to gain damage when nearby enemy Minions are slain.
  • Chromie: Fixed an issue that could cause Chromie’s next attack after landing a Sand Blast hit to fail to gain the Bronze Talons effect if she was attacking from maximum range.
  • Hanzo: The Target Practice quest tracker will now differentiate between targets that have been hit 3 times and those who haven’t been hit at all.
  • Jaina: Fixed an issue that allowed the Water Elemental’s attacks to progress the Frostbite quest progress against unchilled targets.
  • Leoric: Fixed an issue causing the visual effect seen on Heroes affected by Ominous Wraith to fail to appear.
  • Lt. Morales: Healing Beam will no longer heal units affected by Time Stop.
  • Medivh: Medivh the Black’s raven has been updated to match the theme of the skin.
  • Medivh: Medivh can now be selected while in Raven Form when attempting to view his target info panel.
  • Medivh: Portal Mastery portals can now be affected by cooldown reduction.
  • Stukov: Fixed an issue that could prevent Virulent Reaction from rooting targets if the Poppin Pustules talent was chosen.

Damn, I was expecting some minor buffs to Whitemane. While she is extremelly powerful in the right circumstances, the lack of out of combat heal really hurts her, more than it does for Auriel. Sure, you can pick ClemencyClemency (which in my opinion should be baseline), but even that isn't enough, since InquisitionInquisition has a quite lengthy cooldown, as well ZealZeal only healing through damage against Heroes.

While I see what you mean I disagree. Her Q is viable outside of combat. If you’re looking to save mana, then you can use it similarly to Li-Li’s Q. Q is her only ability to cost mana don’t forget and management of it isn’t all that difficult.

of course, getting some real games may change my opinion on this, but currently I don’t think she really needs a numbers buff, at least on Q of out of combat healing.

As a Disc Priest in WoW, I must say it feels... odd to see Sally's basic kit be more in depth and fun to watch and play than the 8.0 version 🙂

Maybe not. From mid to end game, you can usually heal with Q twice every 4 secs even when out of combat without compromising your mana. I say she is like Yrel, we need more time to learn how to play her and manage her manapool.

Divine Plea don't heal enough; I wouldn't even call viable. And her damage output is not strong enough to top the entire team with her trait. Whitemane is not a bad character (I've been doing twice of any healer in the enemy team so far in the few matches I had with her), but I feel she is really undertuned at the moment.

Considering that she is at her best when paired with another Support is strong sign they need to buff her; either her direct heals or her damage (or both).

Maybe it is just because I expected much more from her, but I don't know... She feels very weak to me.

Oh my gods, Yes! Thank You! I really hope this has fixed the problem I've ALWAYS had using Quick Cast 'On Release' vs 'On'. If you press and release the key too fast, nothing happens. Or use another one too soon it would just not cast one or the other or both. So HOPEFULLY this 'bug fix' will fix this issue that has always been a problem with On Release that made it near unusable on many heroes abilities. Especially in a rapid casting situation like team fights. So I'm gonna have to test it out on many of the heroes (like Jaina, Ming, Stitches) that I would prefer to be using 'On Release' with. So I'm hopeful, but we'll see. 🙂

Like you, I’ve seen her get consistently higher healing than other people, I don’t think pushing those numbers is the key there. If you’re seeing her getting twice the healing of others, don’t you think that maybe healing isn’t her problem. It takes most heroes a significant amount of time to top people off and lots of resources. She needs a weakness to her healing like everyone else does and having no escapes doesn’t count for double healing numbers. Whitemane’s Q is definitely viable, with it she can counter burst damage obsurdly well and still have healing off cool down. Perhaps her out of combat healing isn’t superb, but again, double healing numbers is ridiculous.

My mistake, when I said not a bad character I was only thinking of her healing. I feel I need to wait to personally judge her good or bad.

I don't know. I still think she needs a tweaking. So far I don't think she feels as impactful as other healers. She is kinda just there. Eh, maybe I just suck with her. Hahaha.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I didn't imply

Well, she doesn’t really bring any cc to the table and has abysmal waveclear. She has no disengaging tools and yet needs to be aggressive. She requires your allies to make sure to fill in a lot of gaps which isn’t good on a main healer. I feel she needs some sort of ice block talent but Blizzard seems to hate those. Maybe an ice block that removes desperation and heals people with zeal. Or perhaps more than one talent with harder cc I don’t know.

In other news I love the new chromie! I love how easy her W is to dodge. I really feel like I can bully that dam little girl more. Now maybe I won’t have to see her or waste ban slots so much.

I'd rather them pumping her damage. If she has little utility, that should be compensanted by making her more of a threat. Because Kharazim can play pretty agressively even with TranscendenceTranscendence and still deal respectable damage.

I don't play Chromie, but I have a friend who mains her, and he is crying a lot. He says she is completely ruined now, and is pissed that she got that treatment while "Azmodan is dealing eye-watering damage with that sludge bomb", hahaha.

I can agree on the damage increase, she has nothing else going for her so she should be pretty good at it.

Edit: Your friend should burn, the chromie infestation onto the nexus made me rage more than rush hour traffic. 😉

I like tge new healer. Can get top healing and damage compared to healers and assassins alike in one game. But like Azmo that is due to uptime.

Q build only sees top healing. W build is risky. E build can miss. All in all I like her balance in talents even if she can't really diversify and must choose 1 of 3 locked in talent sets.

Blackheart seeks revenge against the Commodore in this week's attack/defend battleground! Everyone starts at level 10, no other talents besides that are available. There's a small chance of all players being the same Hero. Play two games to earn a Loot Chest.
      Blizzard (Source)
Assist a salty revenge-fueled pirate in his other-worldly quest to destroy the docks, or send him to a watery grave with the aid of some spectral cannonballs. This week’s Heroes Brawl is Blackheart’s Revenge, and no matter which side you take, it’s sure to be an explosive match!

      Rules:
Choose from one of three randomly selected Heroes before entering the Docks. Be quick about it though, you only have 30 seconds to choose! Everyone will begin the round at level 10 and will be asked to choose a Heroic Ability. No other talents will be available. You will either be placed on the Attacking or Defending team and will be responsible for aiding Blackheart in his quest for revenge, or preventing the destruction of the Docks Attackers will be responsible for preventing Defenders from firing Cannons at Blackheart’s ship Defenders will gather Cannonballs and fire them at Blackheart’s ship via Cannons placed around the Battleground After the first round, teams will switch sides and the displayed health on Blackheart’s Ship will be adjusted to show the amount of Cannonballs the defending team must fire to beat their opponent’s score and win the round. The team to fire the most shots at the enemy ship will be victorious, unless both teams fire zero or the maximum of 5 Cannonballs, which will result in ties. Rewards:
Complete two matches of the Blackheart's Revenge to earn a Loot Chest! Find out more about the new Heroes Brawl game mode on our Heroes Brawl site; and as always, you can find more information on this week’s Brawl by clicking the Brawl Info button at the bottom of the play screen when preparing to queue for the Brawl game mode.

AI Heroes: Fixed multiple cases of AI-controlled Heroes incorrectly using their abilities. Spell Power: Fixed an issue where Spell Power would no longer affect a Hero’s abilities after they died. (For example: Jaina’s Blizzard will now continue to deal bonus damage if she received increased Spell Power but died before the second and third waves.) Statis/Time Stop: Fixed an issue where player created terrain could move Heroes affected by Stasis or Time Stop. Battlegrounds
Garden of Terror: Fixed an issue where all three Garden Terrors could spawn in a single lane. Minions/Mercenaries: Fixed an issue where Heroes could block the movement of Catapults, preventing them from passing through intact gates. User Interface
Fixed an issue where a space would appear before the player’s name in a Whisper. Heroes, Abilities, and Talents
Ana: Fixed an issue where Ana’s Shrike healing was not accurately reflecting her damage done (via Spell Power or her target’s Armor). Chromie: Fixed an issue where Temporal Loop’s return location would appear incorrect if a movement ability was used by the target. Diablo: Fixed an issue where Diablo would not be displaced by knockback and similar effects while casting Overpower. Gall: Fixed an issue where not all cases of Damage Reduction would work on Gall. Gul’dan: Fixed an issue where Darkness Within’s bonus Spell Power would not increase the healing of Drain Life. Kharazim: Can now Radiant Dash to all allied units, including Mercenaries, Creep Tumors, and Toxic Nests. Li-Ming: Fixed an issue where Tal Rasha's Elements would grant bonus damage to Calamity after being twice in a row. Murky: Egg Hunt’s Slime no longer benefits from Slime talents. Sylvanas: Targets of Mind Control will now clear their move orders when affected by the ability. Uther: Fixed an issue where Holy Fire’s damage was affected by Spell Power. Alan Dabiri announced that he's leaving his current position as Game Director for Heroes of the Storm and he's moving on to another project at Blizzard.
Alan Dabiri has been Game Director ever since Dustin Browder stepped down in December 2016. He thinks the game is in the right hands right now, as developers continue to deliver interesting new Heroes and events. He's transitioning to a new team within the company. We wish him success in all his future endeavors.
Here's the message he left on the official forums:
      Blizzard (Source)
In my 20-plus years at Blizzard, I’ve had the privilege of working on many awesome Blizzard games in roles ranging from software engineer to technical director to game director. Across my many roles and games, my experience working on Heroes of the Storm ranks among the best of my development career. I’ve witnessed Heroes’ evolution from a StarCraft II mod to the amazing game you see today. Heroes’ development has been fueled by the shared excitement of our team and all of you in the community, and the game we’ve built together is the game I play almost every night.
One of the best things about developing Heroes is the fact that this team is not afraid to try new things while always striving to learn and grow. It’s been part of our DNA from the very beginning, and it’s through years of experimentation that we’ve hit our stride both as a development team, and as a game. This is possible because Heroes has an exceptional development team of both Blizzard veterans and fresh faces who are all highly engaged with the game we’re making, and the players we’re making it for.
It’s in this spirit of trying new things that I want to let everyone know that a few months ago, I accepted an opportunity to transition off my role as Heroes’ game director to heed Blizzard’s call and begin a new adventure elsewhere within the company. The game director has always been one part of the overall leadership team that drives Heroes forward and it’s been a privilege to work among some of the best game developers at every level on the team all the way up to our production director, Kaéo Milker. Leaving a team and game that I love is incredibly difficult, but seeing the steady strength, creativity, and commitment that Kaéo and the design, engineering, and art leadership teams consistently bring to Heroes has given me more than enough confidence to make this decision. I trust that the game is in the very best hands and their work these past few months has only reinforced my belief.
They’ve released awesome new heroes like Yrel, Whitemane, Mephisto, and now Mal’Ganis, while building on the themed content drops that let the team do fun things that only Heroes can do. They brought the smackdown (plus my favorite mount, the Luchihuahua!) with Nexomania, finally brought an epic slice of Azeroth into the Nexus with the Alterac Pass Battleground, and joined the Raven Lord’s forces with the Fall of King’s Crest. On top of that, the team has also released awesome reworks like Raynor and Brightwing while adding exciting updates like third ban and Team League improvements. With so many awesome content and feature updates, you can see why I believe that the team has brought us the best year of Heroes of the Storm so far.
And they’re not done yet. Heroes has one of the most passionate and dedicated development teams I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and they have a ton of exciting new content in development. I can’t wait for you all to see what they have in store for the rest of this year and beyond. You can bet that I’ll be right there enjoying it with you as it’s released, too. I’m sure you’ll agree when I say that Heroes is in a great place and I promise that it’s in the hands of the best possible people to continue driving it forward. Kaéo and the Heroes team are people who play almost every night who also happen to get to work on making the game what it is today. With our continued input and support, they’ll keep doing what they do best by making Heroes of the Storm the most awesome game it can possibly be.
I just want to sign off by saying thank you to all of you. I’ve had an incredible time working on this game and seeing you bring the battlegrounds to life every day. I’m so grateful for the enthusiasm you’ve brought to Heroes and all the changes you’ve encouraged us to make. I know the team deeply appreciates the feedback you share, so please keep it coming—and as always, I’ll see you in the Nexus!
