Honorbound/7th Legion & Faction Change Clarifications

Recommended Posts

37119-blizzard-talk-class-development-du

If you decide to change factions, your Honorbound or 7th Legion reputation will convert into the opposite faction equivalent. You will still need to complete the War Campaign in the new faction to unlock that Allied Races.

Blizzard clarified today that you won't need to farm the War Campaign reputation all over again if you decide to switch factions. This only applies to factions, not achievements.

Let's assume you've completed the Alliance War Campaign (Ready for WarReady for War), unlocked Dark Iron Dwarves and reached Exalted with 7th Legion. The achievement won't transfer over to the Horde equivalent (Ready for WarReady for War) and you must still complete the Horde War Campaign in order to unlock Mag'har Orcs, but you will be Exalted with Honorbound after the faction change. The campaign should be immediately available given that you won't need to farm reputation for it to unlock. Check out our reputation guides for more details!

If you Faction Change your Honorbound or 7th Legion reputation will convert into the opposite faction equivalent.

Keep in mind, however, that faction-specific quests and achievements won't be converted to their counterpart in the new faction. As a result, you will be required to complete the War Campaign in the new faction.

Hope this helps. ?

So wait, I I complete the War Campaign and unlock the DI dwarves, do Mag'har orcs get unlocked as well, but do I have to complete the opposite faction's War campaign?

Only if you faction change your Alliance character into Horde. If it's simply on another Horde character, then you have to grind your rep with Honorbound.

Let's assume you're an Alliance char Exalted with 7th Legion who has unlocked Dark Iron Dwarves (Ready for WarReady for War). You'd like to transfer that specific char to the Horde. How this is worded, I think you should be automatically Exalted with Honorbound after the faction change, but you'll still need to complete the Horde War Campaign (Ready for WarReady for War) in order to unlock Mag'har Orcs. Shouldn't take long if you're Exalted with the War Campaign faction.

Yeah, unlike these 4 from Legion, which had reputations available for both factions, these are separate. It's probably going to be the same with Kul Tirans and Zandalari, likely 2 more factions with separate grinds (even if storywise it doesn't make sense, since they are already as reps in game, like Proudmoore Admiralty etc.).

Does this mean that, if I faction change, the whole War Campaign is reset? So do I need to get the Outposts etc again?

Yes I think so.

I dont know how they could require the war campaign, which part s to set up the areas to quest in, while leaving them set up for you to begin with.

I guess they did it with teleporters in legion, though.

So far I follow this. But if you, after faction change and unlocking of opposite faction allied race (Mag orc/DI dwarf), faction change back to original faction again (where you started and had it all) will your previous ach then be reset so you have to do them one more time? Have 18 alliance and 17 horde char, and really want both sides allied races, but using one main.

It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
