Blizzard just unveiled the first Nexus-Born Hero, Orphea at BlizzCon and here's a trailer highlighting new content for Heroes of the Storm, including Janitor Leoric!

Orphea will be available for FREE to BlizzCon attendees and Virtual Ticket holders.

Heir of Raven Court Gameplay Update

The fate of countless realms hangs in the balance with Orphea, Heir of Raven Court and daughter of the Raven Lord, as one of the few poised and ready to risk everything in to put a stop to her father’s dark plans. Heroes of the Storm introduces its first Nexus-born Hero, and she needs your help. Will you stand with Orphea against the Raven Lord?

Orphea Spotlight

Rejecting the dark power her father had begun to consort with, Orphea tried to run away from the Raven Lord’s Influence. But after witnessing King’s Crest fall to his machinations, she was convinced she needed to stand and fight. She now vows to protect the innocent – as a Hero of the Nexus!

She is definitely looking like an anime character in the trailer. The theme of her abilities also points towards animes.

Regarding her kit, well , she seems packed with mobility and sustain. She will be op on release but this is a fact . I am concerned she is Gul'dan/Ming 2.0.

I was hoping to have a double hero announcement alongside or before Orphea, like Reinhardt and Saurfang, but this is still great. Introducing a Nexus born hero can lead to some interesting changes.

i mean, pretty interesting...but...where are the new specialists? where are the OW and SC chars? 😞

Bad news for you, but may be good news for everyone else: speicalists are going away. Not right now, but they said they plan to discontinue the role during 2019, with possibly reworking all such heroes into assasins, support and tanks.

I suspected this from their 2019 game plans and from specialists such as Azmodan, Nazeebo. They probably think: why create a hero designed to kill minions and structures when asassins can do that as well AND have teamfighting power.

The HotS devs header over to reddit today for another Q&A, and among other things it featured yet another possible tease for Deathwing, with 9 developers (of the 10 there) answering "Yes" to this very specific question: "Are there any heroes currently being worked on that were not in development prior to December 14th 2018? " - 9 letters being the big dragon's name. It's pretty thin, but hey, we'll take whatever we can get.
Other than that we heard about:
Definite new "different" heroes like Abathur, Murky and Cho'gal coming, with some pretty great community ideas like Vek'lor and Vek'nilash or 2 dark templars already coming in. Leech effects like Nano Infusion will affect summons eventually, they're getting to it. D.Va is in line for a talent refresh. The Chen rework is already looking good and might be in our hands "soon". No plans for HotS esports at BlizzCon. The devs focus right now is: Heroes, Reworks, Skins, Skin packs and more. Zagara has made things a bit complicated for future design because of the creep system. Brawls will remain on the current rotation system for a while, but there could be a new one coming. No plans to bring back Haunted Mines. No plans for a map editor. No new maps, but tweaks and overhauls to existing ones.
There's a lot more detail in the reddit post, as well as a whole bunch of "maybe, well see" responses to some great questions, so make sure to read the whole thing if you have the time.
