Executive Producer Allen Adham and Principal Game Designer Wyatt Cheng confirmed at BlizzCon's Diablo Immortal press conference that many of Blizzard's best developers are currently working on new mobile titles across all IPs.

Highlights

  • No autoplay is planned for the game right now.
  • Diablo Immortal does not have the Witch Doctor. The six classes have been chosen to represent a variety of playstyles.
  • The game will have content updates over time and the plan is to release additional classes in the future.
  • In terms of Blizzard's approach to mobile gaming, they have many of their best developers now working on new mobile titles across all IPs. Some of them are with external partners like Diablo Immortal, many of them are being developed internally only and they'll have information to share in the future.
  • They have more new products in development today than they've ever had in their history and the future is "very bright".
  • Diablo Immortal is being designed so that everybody can play it from all ages. The game won't be mature-rated.
  • The level of fidelity on mobile is becoming very close to the kinds of games we can see on PC and console. There are some key differences in play sessions and play patterns.
  • The reason why they're bringing Diablo to mobile is to introduce the game to a much broader audience.
  • Netease has been Blizzard's partner in China for almost 10 years.
  • Skepticism demonstrates intellectual curiosity and what people saw at BlizzCon did not really meet their expectations.
  • Allen Adham repeated that the company is currently working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects for die-hard PC fans.

Does Stan not sleep?

Probably not. These people pour themselves into their jobs then get railed at by man children.

I wouldn't want their job.

  • Thanks 1

Yes, because the first thing that pops into mind when thinking back to Butcher's room in Diablo 1 is "family-friendly".

I don't need blood and gore in all my video games, but you could at least try to keep the atmosphere in tact, and I don't think that is possible with a PG Diablo.

Honestly they might as well switch out all levels and enemies to Whimsy Shire lol

Just need to make sure there's no blood or gibs (or have "plushy gibs"), because Whimsy Shire is a gore fest. Cute or not.

Oh, just replace the blood with cotton filling and we should be good lol. But yea I agree, even Whimsy Shire was a complete blood bath despite the cutesy atmosphere.

Personally, I don't dislike the idea of D3 on my phone. Mobile games are a cheap thrill while your on the can, waiting at the doctors office, etc. They NEVER replace PC/console games for me.

Having said that I think the BIGGEST uproar about Diablo Immortal was it was Blizzards BIG Diablo franchise announcement for the last Blizzcon. It was just really underwhelming news when we all had such high hopes.

Imagine paying to go to a Nintendocon expecting to see some awesome new stuff and the BIG announcement was Super Mario Run 2.

Blizzard games like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Overwatch 2 might soon make a comeback in China, thanks to Blizzard reportedly teaming up again with NetEase.
The news comes from Core Esports, which suggests Blizzard's game services could be back by the end of March or the beginning of April.
After 14 years of partnership, Blizzard and NetEase hit a rough patch in 2022, leading to failed negotiations. Consequently, when the licensing agreement concluded on January 23, 2023, Blizzard's game services were suspended across mainland China.
