Upcoming Nerfs to the Zandalari Troll Regeneratin' Racial

Recommended Posts

KpBCSsq.jpg

Yesterday, we previewed Kul Tiran and Zandalari Troll racials. The Zandalari racial Regeneratin' Regeneratin' truly stood out, because the current iteration heals for 25% every second for 4 seconds on a 1.5 min cooldown and the cast is not interrupted by taking damage. Blizzard already announced upcoming nerfs to the racial, and the channel should be interrupted by damage.

The values are obviously not final and we can expect racials to be updated multiple times until Patch 8.1.5 launch.

I got on the PTR and copied and race changed my Horde paladin to Zandalari troll, and tried out the racials. The new Regeneratin’ racial is ridiculously OP compared to others. Every 1.5 minutes you can heal to 100% via a 4 second channel that can be used in combat and does not get interrupted by damage.

It’s worth noting:

  1. These values are not final.
  2. The aspect of this where it is not interrupted by damage is unintended.
  3. We’re discussing it.

Thank you.

Cute. But what about paladin's Bubble or priest's Holy Word: Shield? It needs to be nerfed waaaay more than just make it interruptable by damage

They also said that the numbers aren't final, so I expect them to be lowered quite a bit as well.

Still weird how they even considered trying it out like this, even if only on PTR. It's quite obviously too strong as it is now. Not that I am complaining, as I am intending on having a Zandalari Paladin myself! 😄

it's like they have a bunch of chimps as their testers who gave this BS a green light in the first place

Hmmm, if its interruptable in combat by taking damage, doesn't it render it effectively useless, since if you are close to dying when out of combat, i just sit down and eat some food and heal up that way, i mean sure it happens in 4 seconds instead of 24 seconds or so, but when resting, 4 seconds or 24 seconds is irrelevant.

Having a 1.5mins cooldown is enough of a balance and being able to heal completely once per 1.5mins is a nice thing that all classes should have, even have it on a 'once per combat'.

Yes, basically useless if only viable out of combat. However might be still very strong on paladins and priests, if it can be channeled under immunity or shields.

Blizzard internal:

"Ok, we need to make these racials OP enough to get people to pay for race changes with real money.    But if we make them too OP it'll stand out as an obvious money grab...balancing is sure hard."

My thoughts exactly. I see, it might be a problem in PVP. Then again, there should always be some form of hard CC available to break the channel, at least in Arenas.  That, however, does not hold true for shields, should channeling under immunity be possible - which quite frankly I see no reason why it shouldn't be in the current state of the game. Are there any abilities that change behavior while under an immunity effect?  Instead of Bubble Hearth it's going to be Bubble Reg 🙂

Guys please, we're talking about a racial trait here lol

What happened to that design philosphy that racials shouldn't be so relevant when you're choosing the race of your toon? Zandalari have this one, free slowfall (which is only avaiable by default for like, 3 or 4 classes in the game) and a set of buffs to choose from whenever you want.

This is too OP especially when compared to other racial traits, like Gift of the Naaru that just heals 20% of max health on a 3-minute cooldown. This is too much health on a ridiculously low cooldown. Imagine this *filtered* on PvP if it weren't interruptible by damage. lol

At least Zandalari healing racial is getting a nerf. I am of opinion that racials should have been made non-combat. They removed specific bonuses from professions long time ago, yet still kept racials for some reason, which in the past contributed into faction imbalance. Racials need to be cosmetic and non-combat only. Stuff like summoning a mole machine or banker is fine, but these giving a some stat ot beneficial effect aren't, so remake them into comestic only (like void elf one would have been just a purple glowing effect, but without a buff).

Are you forgetting that Zandalari can also be paladins and priests? So Bubble/Holy Word Shield + free Lay on Hands every 1,5 minute will be a thing. Now imagine meeting one in PvP.
See my point?

Anima of Life and Death is a Tank Essence gated behind Dungeons in Mythic Season 3. Check out our Heart of Azeroth Class Essence guides for more details on 8.2 Essences.
Note: Some tooltips may be inaccurate right now as WoWDB is working on updates. We tested Anima of Life and Death Rank 3 on 8.2 PTR. The Tank Essence comes with a major power which deals 10% of your max health AoE damage and heals you for up to 50% of your max health. The minor power increases your max health and heals you at 10 stacks. The effect is lost when you fall below 35% health.
      Essence Ranks & Sources
The following section contains useful information about the Anima of Life and Death Essence, including how it changes based on rank.
Rank 1 (Fetish of the Dark Caverns)
The initial rank of the Essence can be obtained from Mythic 4+ End-of-Dungeon Challenger's Cache in Season 3 or later.

Rank 2 (Fetish of the Deep Dungeons)
The first upgrade is obtained from Mythic 7+ End-of-Dungeon Challenger's Cache in Season 3 or later.

With Patch 8.2 live it's time to look at undocumented Rise of Azshara changes that were not present in the official Patch 8.2 notes.

/Dance animation for Spectral Raptor form granted by Glyph of the Spectral Raptor has been added. Items
Underlight Angler's movement speed bonus is no longer retained while in combat. Mage
Conjure Refreshment Table received a brand new model. (Source)

As usual it didn't take long for the Wowsecrets discord to come up with a solution to one of the game's mysteries. And while this particular one wasn't that complex, it's still impressive how fast they got it done. Fabious , the underwater mount from Nazjatar appears to be a very vain seahorse and requires a lot of attention. Luckily, Zenkass/Kassidi of Proudmoore US figured out that what he really wants is his picture taken with the player and he'll join them in their quest!
To obtain this mount, you simply go to Bloodfin Village in Nazjatar (around 25,29), hope he's there and use your S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera MkII on him. If you do find him you should be quick about it, as once he spawns he runs around for 2 minutes and then is gone again. Luckily though, anyone that's there while he's moving around can get the mount in this manner, so it's not limited to 1 player per spawn.
Thanks to Vyndoriesh over on r/WoW for the explanation!

"He emerges from the water, fins swaying lazily in the breeze, sun-kissed scales glittering. He is... Fabious."

We have three short blue posts today covering a recently fixed bug from the PTR regarding a quest reward item level getting reduced, a second clarifying how the ranks for the new essence system work and a third on the mobile app getting updated as we speak.

First off, it seems an early Nazjatar quest reward weapon has had it's item level drastically reduced from the PTR version (415 to 370), as the old version was bugged and had an unintentionally high one:
      Quest Reward (source)
      Hello.
I can confirm that there was a bug in the PTR that was causing this reward to generate at an unintentionally high item level, and the bug was finally fixed just before the content update went live.
So you’re seeing the intended power of the reward, and it should be consistent with other rewards that come from similar activities.
Secondly, there's a tweet clarifying the requirements for higher rank essences:
And finally, the mobile app isn't functioning for some players as it's currently being updated and should pop up at slightly different times for different users:
      Mobile App (source)
There is an update to the app that came today with Rise of Azshara/8.2. It may take a while for the update to propagate out but we have confirmed that people are receiving it. Keep an eye out for updates on your device and you will be able to use the app again soon.
      Thanks all!
